I remember one year asking for a new pillow (singular regular one) for Christmas because I was then in age to understand we were pretty poor and wanted to spare my parents' finances for more essential things. When Christmas came, there were 2 presents to my name from them and I was confused. They told me they appreciated that I was trying to help by asking for very little, but that we were doing better then usual this year. They did get me the pillow I asked, but also a brand new sewing machine, knowing I had been wanting one for years and never asked for as I saw them as too costy to ask for. ;-; I feel blessed to have them
Dont spoil your kids, they probably have grandparents and aunts for that I spoil my niece and nephews sometimes but because im not their mom they are all well behaved
We are a middle class family. Bought our 16 year old daughter a car for her birthday. Granted it was an older car but in great shape, low mileage and affordable. She hated it and after a few weeks of grumbling and refusing to drive it, We sold it and she had to hoof it for the next three years. She now (many years later) admits that she was a spoiled little brat and apologized.
Dude, inheritance person is lucky they won’t have to PAY for their parent’s care. That’s what happens to lots of people. My husband’s dad was a drug addict that cleaned up his life and worked hard for 15 years - then he died of cancer (liver due to the drugs.) we had to help pay for care and funeral. Which you should do for family. Parents are family, not flesh bags of money.
My great grandmother had so little left at the end of her life that what little inheritance there was BARELY covered the funeral costs. Selling the house included. Everything had gone to paying for her health care costs and the nursing home.
Despite both being veterans, thus ensuring burial costs themselves were covered, the cremation costs and associated costs were not, so many years before, they both got interest-bearing insurance to cover the costs that the VA wouldn't cover. Everything was covered, and there was a small amount that was split up among the surviving family. It wasn't that much, but they actually hadn't had it long enough to have any real money left. It did help for some household expenses, though. Actually, I'd rather have them back with me, but that can't be.
My kid broke a TV playing Wii bowling and was so upset. He offered the entire contents of his piggy bank to his dad to help replace it. I can't imagine how hard it is to parent so poorly that your kids end up like the ones in this video.
In our family my parents did one thing terribly that turned the baby of the family into an entitled monster....PLAYING FAVORITES, those of us who weren't the favorite in our family are like your kid, the baby of our family is an evil monster. Because he saw that even in identical situations that rules applied differently to them. So it wasn't all their parenting that was terrible, but one major component screwed up one kid for the rest of his life.
@@lm9327 Definitely an accident. He's 9 and he wasn't wearing the strap and he let go by accident during his swing. He was at my sister's and wanted to play Wii. My sister said "you have to wear the strap because I know 2 people who broker a TV" and he laughed and said "oops, I was one of them".

To be fair, your children didn’t ask to be born, so them thanking you for raising them shouldn’t even be a thing. That was the job you signed up for when you decided to keep and raise a child. That doesn’t mean you can’t raise your children to be polite and appreciate what is given them, just do not Expect that you should be thanked for raising your kid by your kid. It makes your child feel as if they owe you for being alive…how messed up is that? Help out after a full adult? Then yes, they better thank you if they want help again.
I would amend that to, "Being a parent can be a thankless job." Over the years I have made a point of thanking my parents for what they have done for me. As a kid I didn't always like what they did, but even then, I knew that I was lucky to have parents who loved me, loved me enough to risk their lives for me. My mother gave up a career to raise my sibs and me. She says she has no regrets. Now she volunteers and is having the time of her life. Dad isn't as chatty about that stuff, but I don't have the impression he regrets the choices they made either. FYI, I was one of two planned children. I have two sibs. The other planned child was stillborn. Both my brother and sister were surprises. Mom was advised to abort both of them. Obviously she didn't. She says her only regret child-wise is that my little brother didn't live. It's true that children don't ask to be born, however most people find life pretty habit forming. I think if parents give their all to raising their kids, it is appropriate to thank them. They could have chosen to be a**holes instead. If parents choose to be a**holes, that is obviously different.
At the time when the kid(s) are being raised, it can seem that way, but very often the thanks comes years later. If you teach your kids to be thankful for what they have, while they are growing up, it can come sooner. That, however, is not the reason it should be done... to get thanks. it should be done because it's the right thing to do.
We had a wonderful childhood filled with everything we could ever want and then my Dad broke his back and is paraplegic. Everyone (my mom.and 4 kids) ended up working at a potato farm and sometimes not even having enough to make a meal. Those hard time built character and brought us closer. Working together to take care of our family. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Sometimes it happens. We were same, had plenty of money, blah. Then my husbands job went kapoot, and we were broke. Lost our nice home. We went to an empty house that was off grid, (we weren’t squatters, it was my mother’s) and nothing was working. No electric, no nothing. We did have a water tower that we paid to bring a load of water. 300 gals. It ran on gravity. No gas for a couple months. We cooked on a camp stove, and used the fireplace to stay warm with wood we scavenged. Our nearest neighbor was one mile away,the mailbox, 5. It sucked. Seriously. But we learned a few lessons, and one was that other people struggling will help you as much as they can, and vice versa, and that you never know about folks, or their story. . My husband worked fence lines so we could eat. The nearest store was 20 miles away, and it was a struggle to just get a few gallons of gas, when our car worked. Thank the lord that is all in the past, but I see things differently now, that’s for sure🙃

Wowzer. That “inheritance” kid is beyond the pale. She doesn’t seem to care her dad is DYING and wants to make the most of what time he has left. If I had anything left after I did what I! Wanted to do for myself finally, I’d leave the rest to animal welfare. And that kid who broke the fish tank would have absolutely no social life at all until he paid for what he broke. I’d have the cleanest house/yard/garage in town, and then some.
Part of me wonders if maybe that dad was absent due to building his business, and their relationship was based on him giving money instead of love and attention? Not that it makes it any better... I've just seen that dynamic before, and it's terrible.
If my son did what that girl with the Mac did, I'd make him work until he repaid me the one he gave away and if he wanted the other model he'd have to pay for it himself. Also, I'd need therapy to try and understand how the f*ck I'd failed so miserably as a parent.

When my son was little (quite a few years ago) he asked for a Playstation for Christmas. We told him no because at the time they were pretty expensive and we thought he was too young. He took it really well and then spent ages making his own pretend Playstation out of cardboard boxes and then played pretend Playstation. We got him a Playstation for Christmas, you should have seen his face. Happy memory.
I sometimes see elderly parents that give their children $1 in their will and the rest to charity. (edit)The 1 dollar is so they can't sue/contest saying the parent "forgot" them in their will. LOL.
Smart. I wonder if that is why my grandma gave each grandchild $1k in hers, 3 of them are lawyers by trade. She also added a clause that says anyone who contests the will forfeits their portion.

I simply hired a lawyer who specializes in elder law / estate work to draft my estate. I have to trust her to draw up documents that will be enforced. Not just upon my death either. I provided for the possibility I could be unable to make my own decisions, either due to an accident or dementia. If I'm that far gone, it won't be hard to establish conservatorship over me. If somebody is looking for a cash grab by seizing my assets, they'll be SOL.

But 1 daughter had passed, so that third went to that daughter's surviving spouse (and their one child, who helped take care of said daughter for 17+ years before she had passed away) I think grandma worried that someone might feel some type of way. Like one of the living daughters thinking that they should have split the 3rd daughter's share rather than it going to that daughter's family or something. 🤷
at 9:20 I 100% agree with the kid. you don't tell someone to give up their seat. they either extend you the courtesy, or you ask nicely. I've noticed that old people, pregnant people, and disabled people often take the kindness and pity that they're offered as their right, and it isn't
It is not only Karens and other entitled people who create these monsters, decent parents can also create them by PLAYING FAVORITES. The favorite child literally grows up seeing that even in identical situations that the rules apply differently to them. This happens even if the parents do everything else right and all their other kids are normal. Playing favorites does more than just hurt the ones who aren't the favorite.
Literally happening to me rn. My sister is almost 19 and all she has to do is stomp her feet and cry like a baby to get what she wants. She’s the only child who got a car. Or help with college. Or a dorm. Parents co-signed a 19k loan after she got a car and she’s not even finished with her first semester and wants to drop out.
I literally know someone who refused to put their elderly mother into a proper care facility because he didn't want to lose inheritance. He literally said that. His mom had dementia and was a danger to herself and he refused to live with her. It wouldn't have even made a dent in her money. She definitely would have lived longer, and not suffered as she did, if he actually cared for her.
As long as he states in the will to my daughter I leave nothing she can’t fight it 🤣. It’s his money and he should do what makes him happy if a cruise will do that then that’s what he should be doing.
Whenever my kids and now grandkids asked to buy something, I would tell them not to thing of how much money it cost, but how long they would have to work to pay for it, especially at minimum wage. I think it made an impact on the value of things.
That's how I relate it to my kiddos when they want something. (6, 4 and 3) daddy has to work this many days (or hours) to buy that. So we either want him to work over time that much or we want him home to play games and go outside with us. They typically choose dad time. 🤣😍🥰
If kids / young adults turn out this entitled, they were raised wrong. Babies aren't born entitled or racists or sexist. They're made this way, being influenced by their environment.

I can't even feel bad for the parents who created this enviroment . As for inheritance...people work hard for their money, they should be able spend their money as they want before they die. Getting an inheritance is nice but is not a deserved thing.

My mum keeps worrying that she's spending our inheritance but my sister and I tell her everytime that it's HER money she deserves to have the extension on her house that she needs for her health or that puppy that she desperately wants after losing our family dog last Christmas. I appreciate her worrying about us but she needs to think of herself more!
Seriously, I am grateful that our family philosophy has always been that an inheritance should be memories not money. Grandma worked hard for her money and she should get to spend it all.

Now with the grandchildrens coming they are worried about spending THEIR money. My sister and I keep encouraging them to travel, doing house renovations and enjoy the money they worked so hard for 😍

That inheritance kid actually makes me sick. I lost my mum to cancer when I was 4 (20 years ago), and was left a pretty sizeable amount of money that I can access when I'm 25. I'd rather have my mum than have any money. I literally don't understand what goes through some people's heads sometimes.
I grew up really poor. I had a single mother trying to support me. I'm also a grown up goth kid and at the time buying that kind of stuff was REALLY expensive. Anytime my mom bought me something (even just necessities like tampons,ect) I was very grateful. Anytime she got me shoes or cloths I took really good care of my stuff. One time she bought me a pair if converse All Stars cuz I wanted them soooooo badly. I made those shoes last for 5 years and they still looked brand new. Like I'd never worn them. Even with holes in the bottom and my feet would get wet they still looked brand new till you saw the bottom of them anyway. My point being I took care of my stuff cuz I understood from a very young age that money is hard to come by and if I got anything bought for me from my mom and best friend (R.I.P) to take care of what I got and to not take it for granted. I may have grown up poor and maybe I didn't get what I wanted all the time I appreciated all the hard work my mom had to do to make sure I had cloths on my back, food in my belly, and a roof over my head. She died of cancer 8 years ago and there's nothing I wouldn't give to have her back for just 5 minutes.

The problem with the entitled kids is their parents won’t do anything about it most of the time, so they let them continue to get away with the behavior.
They're lazy parents. Some kids are hard work, it must be said. Consistency is the key. Same rule yesterday, same rule today, same rule for everyone all the time. Change the rules for one, then you'll get chaos and you'll deserve it too. Fairness, consistency, no favourites amongst the kids if you have more than one. Make sure they know you love them. After that, it's up to them how they turn out.
All these remind me of a Facebook post I saw in the week: a full grown ass house dad had set up a gofundme so he could have a night out...as he hadn't been out for a few months. THE AUDACITY. Meanwhile I'm over here raising to special needs teenagers as a single mum and no had a night out in years.

My brother had the same speeches by my mom before going to any store, and I gave those to him going to Disney! Lol I had passes every year so I would take him, he is much younger than I. It works!!!

Currently have a 2003 Subaru Outback. I was sideswiped by a guy in a trailer when he merged into me and it luckily didn’t kill me or injure me but it REALLY fucked the car up. My back left door currently is jammed shut and actually shows as open on my dashboard. My drivers door as long as my window works I can roll the window down and pop it from the outside, though the window has recently started acting up so through the passenger door I go. It is not fixable without redoing everything and the rust this thing has will kill it if it doesn’t. Me and my folks got lucky and found a really nice manual transmission that is basically the same thing I have currently with a few minor differences. I’m using my beat up one to get back and forth to college until I learn to drive the manual so I’m not taking it on a highway with potentially crippling driver’s anxiety coming back to haunt me when I barely know how to handle it. I might bitch about what happened to my current car but I put up with it because at least right now it’s drivable and I won’t be taking a manual on the highway until I’m ready. I feel very lucky and would never do something like what that guy did. Oh, side note, I was fucking devastated finding out I would lose my first car to this jackass side swiping me. Literally a nearly 20 year old car that I fucking loved. And there’s people out there who bitch about getting the wrong color or an older year. Sorry about the rant. Good on you for treating your car so good and being appreciative though!
My parents did smother me with presents and gifts as a kid, but I'm so happy I was that one kid that hates getting gifts because I feel guilty when I get them and need to get people gifts in return. If I ever have kids, I'm gonna be open with them and have them pick their top 3 things every year I'll get them (within reason) and if they get good grades, I'll pay them so they can buy what they want until they get a job.
I can’t believe kids would do things like this! I have a nice computer, not because I demanded it, but because I learned how to type on an old laptop and worked almost every day walking my neighbors dogs and babysitting. I did chores every single week and searched for good deals. When I finally could afford it, they didn’t have the color I had originally wanted, they had a deeper grey than the other ones. I was really happy with this and started to cry from joy. I grew to like my color more than the one I originally wanted. I use my laptop every day now to work on school work, work on my novels I am writing, etc. Some people don’t realize you sometimes have to work for what you want.
my kids already know that i don't have the funds again this year to get them anything for christmas. their dad on the other hand, buys them basically everything just to rub it in my face and say that i'm a worthless excuse for a mother. my kids say that yea, the stuff from dad is cool and all, but they'd rather just be able to spend time with me. plus, most of the stuff they do get from dad, they end out sharing with me in some way anyway. i do feel bad because i can't get them something, but they know i would if i could. having a place to live is a little more important than having the newest game console.

Maybe he should be paying more in child support or working with you on gifts to make Christmas about the love, giving, and family that it should be. (I also believe in the religious aspects). It's rather heartless of him to do that to you and extra awful to put your children into that position. I am the one that would be paying him child support but he never asked for it in the divorce so i don't have to pay it. But he still calls me pathetic and worthless because i can't support myself or the kids financially. Every time i try to get a job, or start writing on my novel, he tells me it is not a real job, or i won't keep the job for very long. 11 years now. I have been trying to save money to move away, but then i am accused of abandoning my kids. My kids know i need to move away to be able to work on feeling happy and getting things to a better place.

Wow, and I thought I was entitled when my saint of a dad actually asked me for permission to pass away because he didn't want to stress me out with a new baby. Some people don't deserve good parents, and this world certainly didn't deserve my dad. I'd definitely trade the roof over my head to just have one more meal with him.

So true....the other way it happens if the parents aren't entitled is if they play favorites with one, because even though their parents may have been decent people, they legit grew up seeing that the rules didn't apply the same to them even in the exact same situation, with people who should have gotten the same treatment. So there are 2 ways, the baby out of my siblings is one, although the others of us aren't, cuz we learned early on we don't always get what we want and life just ain't always fair.
Fortunately my kids were taught the value of a dollar, how good that paycheck can feel knowing you earned it. They never had tantrums in public (well not after the first time). My sister worked 3 jobs in bad health to make sure she could get her daughter what she liked to eat, video games, etc. Guess which kids earned scholarships, are fully self-sufficient, and wonderful to be around?
Exactly right. No public tantrums AFTER that first one. And if you train your kids to expect you to give up your very life so they can have all the things, watch them gather around your death bed, just waiting for the inheritance. But the base character the child comes in with also impacts how they go through life too. It's not ALL a parents' fault.

I broke something inside the house when I was well old enough to know better. My parents didn't have to say anything. I fixed what I could fix with a little tlc with my dad, and purchased (with a little bit of borrowing from my parents) new what was too broken. I knew better, and instead of getting mad at me my parents used it to teach me a powerful yet positive lesson.
How you end up with entitled brats like this: 1) spoil your children without boundaries 2) play favorites (THIS is also important. Its not just rich parents, regular families can by casting favorites and they are usually super obvious about it and its awful)

German cars are my favorite. I always wanted a VW Beetle, a classic VW Beetle. It is so unfortunately that it is hard to find one that isn't deteriorating within (rust and the like). BMWs are very classy too.

Me too. i have always been frugal and getting any needed retail therapy in the dollar store. i often found after buying things i did seldom used the item after the initial rush...i find i am relative well off compared to many people with 2 or 3 jobs and well insulated from the covid economy. i feel secure despite certain people trying to get me splash out just because the the dozen neighbors bought this or that. it is very easy to lose a million in a day and very hard to make a million in your lifetime.
and here I thought getting my son a PS4 for his birthday was spoiling him! He got a few other things to but at least his reaction was better then those! I STILL get hugs and squeals of "thank you" and his birthday was in June (and he's 17 and has a side job where he pays for his own games, I'm super proud of him! SORRY NOT SORRY proud mama moment)
My first car was an all black 2002 Ford Taurus, I loved that car, my sister gave it to me but I lived up north in Illinois at the time and she lived in Texas then so I had to drive 6 hours with my dad to go pick it up, fun times though 😎 My sister was awesome (RIP Jenny)

My kids are adults, and always have understood gratitude, because that is how they were raised. If they acted like these kids, it would not last long, because the gift would be gone, with no replacement.

A little thing on the dinner thing with the whole mushrooms and all that stuff. As someone who deals with something called a fissured tongue there are certain foods that irritate my tongue. For those who don’t know what a fissured tongue is it is when the tongue has grooves or fissures in it (hence the name). Because of the grooves especially if they’re deep, certain foods with texture like mushrooms getting stuck in a groove can cause a lot of irritation to the tongue. So some food like mushrooms green peppers onions asparagus and sometimes spicy foods irritate our tongue. As someone who has a tongue with grooves forming I have dealt with certain foods that I can’t eat because my tongue gets so irritated from them. I’ve gotten better with spicy foods but mushrooms or bell peppers irritate my tongue so bad.
The poster didn't mention having a fissured tongue. The impression was that s/he just didn't like that food . Either eat what's for dinner or do without. Your choice.

I am autistic, have hypersensitivity and wasn't diagnosed until I was 19 years (even though I was under psychological care since I was 6, but psychology in my country is behind). But my symptoms always were with me. My parents learned that I am very picky with food and always made sure that I will be fine with dinner or have something else to eat. For example: I hate cheese and fishes. Even smell make me want to throw up. If I suddenly feel their taste I have to split it out or force myself to swallow. When my parents want to eat fish in cheesy sause, they also cook macaroni and meat-tomato sause for me before they start making their dinner. It's my ill will or something. I just physically not able to eat some things.
I stayed out one night when I was sixteen and worried my mother. I did feel guilty but she said I hope you have 10 kids and they all act like you. I am now a mother I said I only needed one to get the point I'm blessed with 4 . They all act like me 😆 🤣 😂
When we were children and my mom said that curse about having kids just like us....I looked at my brothers and myself and thought, oh God no, I am never having kids...ever. I am too weak for that.
My mom did the same thing! I can't remember what the offense was but she said, 'I hope you have 7 kids and I hope they're just like you' Never forgot it! I was blessed to carry 1. She's ten now and a whole lot like me. My mom told me another thing when I was growing up, that love, affection hugs, etc.. can never spoil a child, it's not hearing no, and feeling like the world owes you something that spoils people. I love them both and try my best.
I guess I was a blessing and a curse at the same time. I was a blessing, because I never gave my mom problems when it comes to tantrums or disobeying as a kid growing up. I was cursed with disabilities and ASD, so I was difficult to teach in the sense that I had a hard time understanding what she wanted. I was the quite baby and later quite kid. I didn't want any fuss. My mom told me to sit and wait, I sat and waited. That I knew very well, but other things that took over five steps were rough. I think if I had children they would all be born with Autism or other disabilities, so I am not risking that shit. 😂However, I also think they would be mild like mines, properly have the high IQ aspects of the family, but with influence to actually using that IQ and act quite... too quite. I scared my mom many nights. She thought I was dead on many occasions, because of my silence and I suffer from low blood pressure. Even doctors almost diagnosed me with a heart disorder and told my mom not to get too attached to me because very few babies survive from it (this was back in early 1980s). 😱
My parents did well...that is until they started playing favorites, the favorite turned into one of these monsters, the rest of us are "normal" contributing members of society. So congrats on doing well, and good luck staying the course. 👍
I know my son is so much like me because he rang me the other day very excited to say that he just got a fantastic winter coat for £5.00 from a charity shop! These kids need a lesson on how life really works.
I love it when my son calls me about his bargains too. I found a brand new pair of Vans in a store in his size and called him said that he was fine with the ones he had since they "look" good when they are ratted up so i bought them anyway rubbed them in dirt and gave them to him he loved them@
I do not think I have ever watched a video of Charlotte's, before this one, which made me so furious that I could spit diamonds. These kids need to work on a farm or ranch for at least a week so they can get an attitude adjustment!
What just one week?! hell no try working on a farm/ranch during haying season. I'm a doctor's daughter. Did I get a fancy ass car on my 16th birthday? NO. Did I get pampered and/or spoiled rotten? Probably up to about age 5. Then, no. Yes, I got riding lessons (on a leased horse) at a very prestigious barn in my teens. BUT...I also worked up to 14 hrs during hay season. tossing hay onto wagons and stacking it 5 bales high, then tossing it off the wagon and onto the hay elevator. All while having hay fever lol, which is the only way I did not end up stacking it in the haymow. Work experience like that all through my life helped define me and now I am in my mid-50s and all who know me, even if they don't like me, sure as hell respect the fuck out of me. I've proven myself as a strong, self-sufficient, independent woman so often in the last 3 decades or so that literally nobody messes with me.
I got even with my spoiled brat sister once. I had my own apartment. My mom asked me if she could come over and use my oven cuz hers broke. I was like sure but I'll be at work. So they came over while I was at work and my mom used my kitchen. Her and my sister went in my fridge and got into a plate of food that I made for a party later that day. Not only did they make there own food using my oven but also they took my plate of food for the party home. Also while I was gone I got 3 slices of birthday cake from my work... they took it too. My sister while my mom was cooking trashed my room and left DVDs everywhere and soda everywhere. I came home to find my food missing and my room full of aunts. I was pissed! I asked my mom why the mess and where is my missing food. Her and my sister ate the 3 slices of cake while waiting for there food to be done and took my plate of food cuz they thought It was leftovers and i didn't want it. Also she let my sister play in my room while she was cooking. It took me over 2 hours to clean the mess my sister left. We are almost 12 years apart. So a couple of days later. I was at my moms house and she wasn't home she was out doing some shopping. I found a letter in my moms name for my sister who is a kid saying that she won a gift card to a store. It was $100 on the gift card. I took it and left a note on why I took it. I put on the note that this covers the damage to my room and pays for all the missing food. My mom got pissed I told her i think it's fair for the amount of time i had to clean up after my sister trashed my room and lol i had video of it cuz i accidentally left my new camera on cuz i was trying to learn how to work it. Also on tape saw my mom take a few dollars off my dresser. I told her to drop it or I'll take the video to the cops. She never said anything about it again
As a single mother with two great (now adult) children . I can only say that I am glad I was NOT able to spoil them because of our financial situation. There have been times I wished I could have done more and then heard these posts...no regrets now!
My parents learned this the hard way with the baby of the family. He was the favorite and was spoiled rotten as a kid, he became evil and legit turned on my parents and treats them insanely awful. Like literally calling just to verbally abuse them. My mom died with broken heart syndrome actually written in her chart (takosubo). 💔 they are creating monsters when they spoil kids
Yeah the first one. If my child ever do that I would 1. make a list off all their favorite/most expensive things 2. Then sell all favorite/expensive things 3. Then give my child the list, and tell them if they want all their stuff back then they have to find a job so they can gradually work towards buying all the stuff I sold. I won’t be a very strict parent but I’d be mad if that ever happened to me.

Nah you didn't miss out. The baby of our family was spoiled, our parents played favorites, and he is super entitled, but because of it he has problems holding down jobs, and getting new ones, and even in a field he has worked in for many years now can't get hired because he can't pass the hands-on portion of his licensing test because he legit thinks he does everything perfect and that they just must be being mean to him. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 when he is clearly doing something that is actually dangerous to do in his field of work during the tests, stuff that gets companies sued and shut down, but he refuses to accept that he could do anything wrong. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 so now because he got spoiled as a kid, his life as an adult is quite rotten.
My son never wanted a car because he figured in insurance and maintenance etc. He went to college without one. He could concentrate on his studies and not have to work part time like his classmates to pay for it. The bus ran every three minutes. He gets a good job out of college, finally gets his license. Even HE in his 20's, buys a cheap car because he doesn't want to ruin a new one. He buys a new car a year later, he was accident free in his beater. Hits a deer with the brand new one 😪

Some didn't enforce boundaries or tell their kids no. Others, even though they parented some of their kids correctly, if they played favorites, the favorite turns into one of these monsters, because they legit grew up seeing that even in identical situations that the rules don't apply the same to them.
I would love to go to Disneyland again. Just went once when I was like 10. I'm in my 40's now and don't live in a country with a Disneyworld, and I MISS the place. That kid doesn't now what they're having.

I remember one year asking for a new pillow (singular regular one) for Christmas because I was then in age to understand we were pretty poor and wanted to spare my parents' finances for more essential things. When Christmas came, there were 2 presents to my name from them and I was confused. They told me they appreciated that I was trying to help by asking for very little, but that we were doing better then usual this year. They did get me the pillow I asked, but also a brand new sewing machine, knowing I had been wanting one for years and never asked for as I saw them as too costy to ask for. ;-; I feel blessed to have them

We are a middle class family. Bought our 16 year old daughter a car for her birthday. Granted it was an older car but in great shape, low mileage and affordable. She hated it and after a few weeks of grumbling and refusing to drive it, We sold it and she had to hoof it for the next three years. She now (many years later) admits that she was a spoiled little brat and apologized.
I would have told the kid she’s not going to the mall OR to Disneyland. She would’ve been grounded for sure.
At least until she's thirty! :)

Dude, inheritance person is lucky they won’t have to PAY for their parent’s care. That’s what happens to lots of people. My husband’s dad was a drug addict that cleaned up his life and worked hard for 15 years - then he died of cancer (liver due to the drugs.) we had to help pay for care and funeral. Which you should do for family. Parents are family, not flesh bags of money.
My great grandmother had so little left at the end of her life that what little inheritance there was BARELY covered the funeral costs. Selling the house included. Everything had gone to paying for her health care costs and the nursing home.
Despite both being veterans, thus ensuring burial costs themselves were covered, the cremation costs and associated costs were not, so many years before, they both got interest-bearing insurance to cover the costs that the VA wouldn't cover. Everything was covered, and there was a small amount that was split up among the surviving family. It wasn't that much, but they actually hadn't had it long enough to have any real money left. It did help for some household expenses, though. Actually, I'd rather have them back with me, but that can't be.
My kid broke a TV playing Wii bowling and was so upset. He offered the entire contents of his piggy bank to his dad to help replace it. I can't imagine how hard it is to parent so poorly that your kids end up like the ones in this video.
In our family my parents did one thing terribly that turned the baby of the family into an entitled monster....PLAYING FAVORITES, those of us who weren't the favorite in our family are like your kid, the baby of our family is an evil monster. Because he saw that even in identical situations that rules applied differently to them. So it wasn't all their parenting that was terrible, but one major component screwed up one kid for the rest of his life.

I would amend that to, "Being a parent can be a thankless job." Over the years I have made a point of thanking my parents for what they have done for me. As a kid I didn't always like what they did, but even then, I knew that I was lucky to have parents who loved me, loved me enough to risk their lives for me. My mother gave up a career to raise my sibs and me. She says she has no regrets. Now she volunteers and is having the time of her life. Dad isn't as chatty about that stuff, but I don't have the impression he regrets the choices they made either.
FYI, I was one of two planned children. I have two sibs. The other planned child was stillborn. Both my brother and sister were surprises. Mom was advised to abort both of them. Obviously she didn't. She says her only regret child-wise is that my little brother didn't live.
It's true that children don't ask to be born, however most people find life pretty habit forming. I think if parents give their all to raising their kids, it is appropriate to thank them. They could have chosen to be a**holes instead. If parents choose to be a**holes, that is obviously different.

We had a wonderful childhood filled with everything we could ever want and then my Dad broke his back and is paraplegic. Everyone (my mom.and 4 kids) ended up working at a potato farm and sometimes not even having enough to make a meal. Those hard time built character and brought us closer. Working together to take care of our family. I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Sometimes it happens. We were same, had plenty of money, blah. Then my husbands job went kapoot, and we were broke. Lost our nice home. We went to an empty house that was off grid, (we weren’t squatters, it was my mother’s) and nothing was working. No electric, no nothing. We did have a water tower that we paid to bring a load of water. 300 gals. It ran on gravity. No gas for a couple months. We cooked on a camp stove, and used the fireplace to stay warm with wood we scavenged. Our nearest neighbor was one mile away,the mailbox, 5. It sucked. Seriously. But we learned a few lessons, and one was that other people struggling will help you as much as they can, and vice versa, and that you never know about folks, or their story. . My husband worked fence lines so we could eat. The nearest store was 20 miles away, and it was a struggle to just get a few gallons of gas, when our car worked. Thank the lord that is all in the past, but I see things differently now, that’s for sure🙃

Wowzer. That “inheritance” kid is beyond the pale. She doesn’t seem to care her dad is DYING and wants to make the most of what time he has left. If I had anything left after I did what I! When my son was little (quite a few years ago) he asked for a Playstation for Christmas. We told him no because at the time they were pretty expensive and we thought he was too young. He took it really well and then spent ages making his own pretend Playstation out of cardboard boxes and then played pretend Playstation. We got him a Playstation for Christmas, you should have seen his face. Happy memory.

I simply hired a lawyer who specializes in elder law / estate work to draft my estate. I have to trust her to draw up documents that will be enforced. Not just upon my death either. I provided for the possibility I could be unable to make my own decisions, either due to an accident or dementia. If I'm that far gone, it won't be hard to establish conservatorship over me. If somebody is looking for a cash grab by seizing my assets, they'll be SOL.

She had 3 daughters who each got their third of grandma's estate. But 1 daughter had passed, so that third went to that daughter's surviving spouse (and their one child, who helped take care of said daughter for 17+ years before she had passed away)

It is not only Karens and other entitled people who create these monsters, decent parents can also create them by PLAYING FAVORITES. The favorite child literally grows up seeing that even in identical situations that the rules apply differently to them. This happens even if the parents do everything else right and all their other kids are normal. Playing favorites does more than just hurt the ones who aren't the favorite.
Literally happening to me rn. My sister is almost 19 and all she has to do is stomp her feet and cry like a baby to get what she wants. She’s the only child who got a car. Or help with college. Or a dorm. Parents co-signed a 19k loan after she got a car and she’s not even finished with her first semester and wants to drop out.

I literally know someone who refused to put their elderly mother into a proper care facility because he didn't want to lose inheritance. He literally said that. His mom had dementia and was a danger to herself and he refused to live with her. It wouldn't have even made a dent in her money. She definitely would have lived longer, and not suffered as she did, if he actually cared for her.

Whenever my kids and now grandkids asked to buy something, I would tell them not to thing of how much money it cost, but how long they would have to work to pay for it, especially at minimum wage. I think it made an impact on the value of things.
That's how I relate it to my kiddos when they want something. (6, 4 and 3) daddy has to work this many days (or hours) to buy that. So we either want him to work over time that much or we want him home to play games and go outside with us. They typically choose dad time. 🤣😍🥰
If kids / young adults turn out this entitled, they were raised wrong. Babies aren't born entitled or racists or sexist. They're made this way, being influenced by their environment.

I can't even feel bad for the parents who created this enviroment . As for inheritance...people work hard for their money, they should be able spend their money as they want before they die. Getting an inheritance is nice but is not a deserved thing.

That inheritance kid actually makes me sick. I lost my mum to cancer when I was 4 (20 years ago), and was left a pretty sizeable amount of money that I can access when I'm 25. I'd rather have my mum than have any money. I literally don't understand what goes through some people's heads sometimes.
I grew up really poor. I had a single mother trying to support me. I'm also a grown up goth kid and at the time buying that kind of stuff was REALLY expensive. Anytime my mom bought me something (even just necessities like tampons,ect) I was very grateful. Anytime she got me shoes or cloths I took really good care of my stuff. One time she bought me a pair if converse All Stars cuz I wanted them soooooo badly. I made those shoes last for 5 years and they still looked brand new. Like I'd never worn them. Even with holes in the bottom and my feet would get wet they still looked brand new till you saw the bottom of them anyway. My point being I took care of my stuff cuz I understood from a very young age that money is hard to come by and if I got anything bought for me from my mom and best friend (R.I.P) to take care of what I got and to not take it for granted. I may have grown up poor and maybe I didn't get what I wanted all the time I appreciated all the hard work my mom had to do to make sure I had cloths on my back, food in my belly, and a roof over my head. She died of cancer 8 years ago and there's nothing I wouldn't give to have her back for just 5 minutes.

They're lazy parents. Some kids are hard work, it must be said. Consistency is the key. Same rule yesterday, same rule today, same rule for everyone all the time. Change the rules for one, then you'll get chaos and you'll deserve it too. Fairness, consistency, no favourites amongst the kids if you have more than one. Make sure they know you love them. After that, it's up to them how they turn out.

My first car was an absolutely beat up, old rusty Mazda that my parents bought for a few hundred dollars when I was 17.
I absolutely LOVED it.
Washed it & vacuumed it every weekend and took such good care of it.
Currently have a 2003 Subaru Outback. I was sideswiped by a guy in a trailer when he merged into me and it luckily didn’t kill me or injure me but it REALLY fucked the car up. My back left door currently is jammed shut and actually shows as open on my dashboard. My drivers door as long as my window works I can roll the window down and pop it from the outside, though the window has recently started acting up so through the passenger door I go. It is not fixable without redoing everything and the rust this thing has will kill it if it doesn’t. Me and my folks got lucky and found a really nice manual transmission that is basically the same thing I have currently with a few minor differences. I’m using my beat up one to get back and forth to college until I learn to drive the manual so I’m not taking it on a highway with potentially crippling driver’s anxiety coming back to haunt me when I barely know how to handle it. I might bitch about what happened to my current car but I put up with it because at least right now it’s drivable and I won’t be taking a manual on the highway until I’m ready. I feel very lucky and would never do something like what that guy did. Oh, side note, I was fucking devastated finding out I would lose my first car to this jackass side swiping me. Literally a nearly 20 year old car that I fucking loved. And there’s people out there who bitch about getting the wrong color or an older year.

My parents did smother me with presents and gifts as a kid, but I'm so happy I was that one kid that hates getting gifts because I feel guilty when I get them and need to get people gifts in return. If I ever have kids, I'm gonna be open with them and have them pick their top 3 things every year I'll get them (within reason) and if they get good grades, I'll pay them so they can buy what they want until they get a job.

I can’t believe kids would do things like this! I have a nice computer, not because I demanded it, but because I learned how to type on an old laptop and worked almost every day walking my neighbors dogs and babysitting. I did chores every single week and searched for good deals. When I finally could afford it, they didn’t have the color I had originally wanted, they had a deeper grey than the other ones. I was really happy with this and started to cry from joy. I grew to like my color more than the one I originally wanted. I use my laptop every day now to work on school work, work on my novels I am writing, etc. Some people don’t realize you sometimes have to work for what you want.

my kids already know that i don't have the funds again this year to get them anything for christmas. their dad on the other hand, buys them basically everything just to rub it in my face and say that i'm a worthless excuse for a mother. my kids say that yea, the stuff from dad is cool and all, but they'd rather just be able to spend time with me. plus, most of the stuff they do get from dad, they end out sharing with me in some way anyway. i do feel bad because i can't get them something, but they know i would if i could. having a place to live is a little more important than having the newest game console.

I am the one that would be paying him child support but he never asked for it in the divorce so i don't have to pay it. But he still calls me pathetic and worthless because i can't support myself or the kids financially. Every time i try to get a job, or start writing on my novel, he tells me it is not a real job, or i won't keep the job for very long. 11 years now. I have been trying to save money to move away, but then i am accused of abandoning my kids. My kids know i need to move away to be able to work on feeling happy and getting things to a better place.

I want to feel sympathy for the parents of these kids but I've found that entitled awful kids learned that crap from their entitled awful parents.

So true....the other way it happens if the parents aren't entitled is if they play favorites with one, because even though their parents may have been decent people, they legit grew up seeing that the rules didn't apply the same to them even in the exact same situation, with people who should have gotten the same treatment. So there are 2 ways, the baby out of my siblings is one, although the others of us aren't, cuz we learned early on we don't always get what we want and life just ain't always fair.
When someone uses your credit card without your permission, that is theft! That sort of behavior needs to be nipped in the bud.
Fortunately my kids were taught the value of a dollar, how good that paycheck can feel knowing you earned it. They never had tantrums in public (well not after the first time). My sister worked 3 jobs in bad health to make sure she could get her daughter what she liked to eat, video games, etc. Guess which kids earned scholarships, are fully self-sufficient, and wonderful to be around?
Exactly right. No public tantrums AFTER that first one. And if you train your kids to expect you to give up your very life so they can have all the things, watch them gather around your death bed, just waiting for the inheritance. But the base character the child comes in with also impacts how they go through life too. It's not ALL a parents' fault.

I broke something inside the house when I was well old enough to know better. My parents didn't have to say anything. I fixed what I could fix with a little tlc with my dad, and purchased (with a little bit of borrowing from my parents) new what was too broken. I knew better, and instead of getting mad at me my parents used it to teach me a powerful yet positive lesson.
How you end up with entitled brats like this:
1) spoil your children without boundaries
2) play favorites (THIS is also important. Its not just rich parents, regular families can by casting favorites and they are usually super obvious about it and its awful)

Me too. i have always been frugal and getting any needed retail therapy in the dollar store. i often found after buying things i did seldom used the item after the initial rush...i find i am relative well off compared to many people with 2 or 3 jobs and well insulated from the covid economy. i feel secure despite certain people trying to get me splash out just because the the dozen neighbors bought this or that. it is very easy to lose a million in a day and very hard to make a million in your lifetime.
and here I thought getting my son a PS4 for his birthday was spoiling him! He got a few other things to but at least his reaction was better then those! I STILL get hugs and squeals of "thank you" and his birthday was in June (and he's 17 and has a side job where he pays for his own games, I'm super proud of him! SORRY NOT SORRY proud mama moment)
My first car was an all black 2002 Ford Taurus, I loved that car, my sister gave it to me but I lived up north in Illinois at the time and she lived in Texas then so I had to drive 6 hours with my dad to go pick it up, fun times though 😎

A little thing on the dinner thing with the whole mushrooms and all that stuff. As someone who deals with something called a fissured tongue there are certain foods that irritate my tongue. For those who don’t know what a fissured tongue is it is when the tongue has grooves or fissures in it (hence the name). Because of the grooves especially if they’re deep, certain foods with texture like mushrooms getting stuck in a groove can cause a lot of irritation to the tongue. So some food like mushrooms green peppers onions asparagus and sometimes spicy foods irritate our tongue. As someone who has a tongue with grooves forming I have dealt with certain foods that I can’t eat because my tongue gets so irritated from them. I’ve gotten better with spicy foods but mushrooms or bell peppers irritate my tongue so bad.
The poster didn't mention having a fissured tongue. The impression was that s/he just didn't like that food . Either eat what's for dinner or do without. Your choice.

I am autistic, have hypersensitivity and wasn't diagnosed until I was 19 years (even though I was under psychological care since I was 6, but psychology in my country is behind). But my symptoms always were with me. My parents learned that I am very picky with food and always made sure that I will be fine with dinner or have something else to eat. For example: I hate cheese and fishes. Even smell make me want to throw up. If I suddenly feel their taste I have to split it out or force myself to swallow.
When my parents want to eat fish in cheesy sause, they also cook macaroni and meat-tomato sause for me before they start making their dinner.
It's my ill will or something. I just physically not able to eat some things.
I stayed out one night when I was sixteen and worried my mother. I did feel guilty but she said I hope you have 10 kids and they all act like you. I am now a mother I said I only needed one to get the point I'm blessed with 4 . They all act like me 😆 🤣 😂
When we were children and my mom said that curse about having kids just like us....I looked at my brothers and myself and thought, oh God no, I am never having kids...ever. I am too weak for that.
My mom did the same thing! I can't remember what the offense was but she said, 'I hope you have 7 kids and I hope they're just like you' Never forgot it! I was blessed to carry 1. She's ten now and a whole lot like me. My mom told me another thing when I was growing up, that love, affection hugs, etc.. can never spoil a child, it's not hearing no, and feeling like the world owes you something that spoils people. I love them both and try my best.
I guess I was a blessing and a curse at the same time. I was a blessing, because I never gave my mom problems when it comes to tantrums or disobeying as a kid growing up. I was cursed with disabilities and ASD, so I was difficult to teach in the sense that I had a hard time understanding what she wanted. I was the quite baby and later quite kid. I didn't want any fuss. My mom told me to sit and wait, I sat and waited. That I knew very well, but other things that took over five steps were rough. I think if I had children they would all be born with Autism or other disabilities, so I am not risking that shit. 😂However, I also think they would be mild like mines, properly have the high IQ aspects of the family, but with influence to actually using that IQ and act quite... too quite. I scared my mom many nights. She thought I was dead on many occasions, because of my silence and I suffer from low blood pressure. Even doctors almost diagnosed me with a heart disorder and told my mom not to get too attached to me because very few babies survive from it (this was back in early 1980s). 😱
I tell my kids these stories, and they laugh and tell me, you would have not given us anything, if we acted like that. Thats about right

What just one week?! hell no try working on a farm/ranch during haying season. I'm a doctor's daughter. Did I get a fancy ass car on my 16th birthday? NO. Did I get pampered and/or spoiled rotten? Probably up to about age 5. Then, no. Yes, I got riding lessons (on a leased horse) at a very prestigious barn in my teens. BUT...I also worked up to 14 hrs during hay season. tossing hay onto wagons and stacking it 5 bales high, then tossing it off the wagon and onto the hay elevator. All while having hay fever lol, which is the only way I did not end up stacking it in the haymow. Work experience like that all through my life helped define me and now I am in my mid-50s and all who know me, even if they don't like me, sure as hell respect the fuck out of me. I've proven myself as a strong, self-sufficient, independent woman so often in the last 3 decades or so that literally nobody messes with me.
Or a customer service job so they have to deal with other entitled people

I got even with my spoiled brat sister once. I had my own apartment. My mom asked me if she could come over and use my oven cuz hers broke. I was like sure but I'll be at work. So they came over while I was at work and my mom used my kitchen. Her and my sister went in my fridge and got into a plate of food that I made for a party later that day. Not only did they make there own food using my oven but also they took my plate of food for the party home. Also while I was gone I got 3 slices of birthday cake from my work... they took it too. My sister while my mom was cooking trashed my room and left DVDs everywhere and soda everywhere. I came home to find my food missing and my room full of aunts. I was pissed! I asked my mom why the mess and where is my missing food. Her and my sister ate the 3 slices of cake while waiting for there food to be done and took my plate of food cuz they thought It was leftovers and i didn't want it. Also she let my sister play in my room while she was cooking. It took me over 2 hours to clean the mess my sister left. We are almost 12 years apart. So a couple of days later. I was at my moms house and she wasn't home she was out doing some shopping. I found a letter in my moms name for my sister who is a kid saying that she won a gift card to a store. It was $100 on the gift card. I took it and left a note on why I took it. I put on the note that this covers the damage to my room and pays for all the missing food. My mom got pissed I told her i think it's fair for the amount of time i had to clean up after my sister trashed my room and lol i had video of it cuz i accidentally left my new camera on cuz i was trying to learn how to work it. Also on tape saw my mom take a few dollars off my dresser. I told her to drop it or I'll take the video to the cops. She never said anything about it again

My parents learned this the hard way with the baby of the family. He was the favorite and was spoiled rotten as a kid, he became evil and legit turned on my parents and treats them insanely awful. 1. make a list off all their favorite/most expensive things
2. Then sell all favorite/expensive things
3. Then give my child the list, and tell them if they want all their stuff back then they have to find a job so they can gradually work towards buying all the stuff I sold.

The baby of our family was spoiled, our parents played favorites, and he is super entitled, but because of it he has problems holding down jobs, and getting new ones, and even in a field he has worked in for many years now can't get hired because he can't pass the hands-on portion of his licensing test because he legit thinks he does everything perfect and that they just must be being mean to him. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 when he is clearly doing something that is actually dangerous to do in his field of work during the tests, stuff that gets companies sued and shut down, but he refuses to accept that he could do anything wrong. 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦 so now because he got spoiled as a kid, his life as an adult is quite rotten.
My son never wanted a car because he figured in insurance and maintenance etc. He went to college without one. He could concentrate on his studies and not have to work part time like his classmates to pay for it. The bus ran every three minutes. He gets a good job out of college, finally gets his license. Even HE in his 20's, buys a cheap car because he doesn't want to ruin a new one. He buys a new car a year later, he was accident free in his beater. Hits a deer with the brand new one 😪
