  • Thailand's rainy season (May-October) brings a ton of rain, raining almost daily. Bangkok is a sinking city (sinks below sea level about 2cm per year). In this video, I show you what the rain situation is like in my area / neighborhood.

Dang dude. I'm glad your house was okay. Reminded me of our time in Malaysia.

Water still found a way to seep in through the floor, but very little versus the water outside. Sept 7 last year was the worst storm/flood in Pattaya for over 50 years . The water level was 20 cm higher than the previous worst storm / flood a few weeks before and another one about six years ago.

I have a one inch steel frame and galvinized sheet steel and foam around the edges for a good seal. I put this in front of my gate. I also have a 30 cm wall at the front door, tiled of course, and we have screw-in caps on the bathroom drains in the floor. If you would like fotos to replicate them, let me know.

Let me know. Believe me, it gives a lot of piece of mind being able to look at water in the street and having a wall as protection. It helps to sleep at night. And it will come up through the floor drains as well.

@@dksharron Not an issue for me. As you saw in the video, my floor is raised high enough. Also, that sounds miserable having to constantly keep removing a steel wall. Also, all those walls ruins the aesthetics of the house. Appreciate the suggestions though. And I'm not worried about the interior drains because I have a safety check valve in the pipe where water can only exit my home and into the city sewer (but cannot come in the other direction).

@@DeanBKK OK. I put the steel wall ( 15 pounds) up only a couple of times / year. It takes only a couple of minutes. Some neighbors have built one as well, and in some areas of Pattaya, entire villages could benefit from it.
Look forward to seeing your car finished.

Is it worse or better in September usually?

Probably the same, with October being the wettest month I think. November is much nicer.
