That’s James Jamison Jr on Bass. His dad was one of the finest bass players ever at Motown Records. Jamison Sr and My Uncle Wilton played bass on lots of early Jackson5 Hits. Just a little bit of trivia from the family inside secrets. Lol

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for posting this! I had this vinyl album when it was first released in 1978. This was a song I put on cassette before I went off to college and it was one of my absolute favorites. I never could locate the album and it is unfortunate this album was never re-issued on CD. This is an overlooked classic that deserves attention.

Just found this 12 inch promo mint on eBay, and the lp is there too. This was a solid record in 1978. My college years. Good times!

I'm a (Jazz) Crusaders fan since The Thing. I have this album and never played this song. Love it. Is it Funky Jazz or Jazzy Funk? Thank you for posting.

    • @GROOVEULTD

Thanks to you for taking the time to write, I guess you can call it Jazz-Funk, there was a lot of crossover between genres in the 70s/80s and fusion is one of them. Many Jazz players started to open their way of writing to different kind of music (ie Miles Davis: rock Herbie Hancock: Funk and dance music) and produced some cool sounds! These guys (the Crusaders) were top session men, Larry Carlton was the Steely Dan go to guitar player on many records. Thanks again!

It's not about the time it took, its more about whether or not the poster is breaking any rules (I've had a number of tracks knocked back or removed...to the point where I don't bother anymore).
