      That's a great suggestion! We'll definitely work in it. For now, you might be interested in our 3 past tense narrations (we have separate videos with the same story in the present). This one is about an encounter with a kid in a park - th-cam.com/video/W1bTgvVGwr8/w-d-xo.html
      This one is about things falling out of a backpack th-cam.com/video/NHXgKHhM4zA/w-d-xo.html
      This one is about an encounter with a hungry horse - th-cam.com/video/qg0wTrdVwU8/w-d-xo.html.
      The stories are narrated completely in the past, so it's a great way to hear verbs repeated in context.

    I just read where you are thinking about putting in English subtitles. Would that be optional? I'd love Spanish subtitles for the sake of spelling. But I'm loving no subtitles. It challenges me to listen. I know you can't please everyone. I'm just grateful for the format. Great job all of you.

    • @SpanishPlayground
      @SpanishPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We're working on adding English subtitles, but they will be optional. We agree that using any subtitles is problematic in terms of learning. It's not easy to process speech and read simultaneously, especially in a language you don't speak well. The videos are designed to support the content with props, gestures and repetition, so the way you are watching them is what we would recommend. Of course, everyone learns differently, and Spanish subtitles seem to be useful to some viewers. On Amazon Prime Direct, they require the English closed captions to be burned in, so if you see our videos there, there is no option to remove them, but here on TH-cam you can always take them off. 😊

    • @gabychats
      @gabychats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpanishPlayground Yes I agree that subtitles can get in the way of learning but often I watch your videos first with Spanish subtitles and then I re-watch them with no subtitles and I hear the words better since I am anticipating and already understand the story. I really try to avoid english subtitles except for the odd word that I don't know and can't figure out, and then I turn on auto translate english for just a sentence. I think you guys are great. Thank you for all your hard work.

    At 3:57 you say, "Pongamosla aqui atras" I would have thought this should be "La pongamos aqui atras" as I thought that you only put "la" after the verb in cases like "Podemos ponerla aqui atras". Could you explain? Thank you ,

    • @SpanishPlayground
      @SpanishPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a great question! You're right that pronouns can attach to the end of infinitives, or go before the conjugated verb. However, they also *must* be attached to the end of positive commands. This is a "let's command" - formed by using the nosotros form of the present subjunctive. So, the direct object pronoun attaches to the end, the same way it would with an informal tú command like Dámelo (Give it to me) or an formal usted command like Mírelo (Look at it). If the commands are negative, then the pronouns go before the conjugated verb. No la pongamos aquí. No me lo des. No me mire. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have questions!

    Por que “el” agua? Es masculino?

    • @SpanishPlayground
      @SpanishPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Such a great question! "Agua" uses the masculine article because it starts with a stressed "a". It's a question of making the pronunciation clearer - a little like changing a to an in English. The noun agua is feminine, so you say "el agua fresca", "el agua fría", "el agua limpia" - the adjectives are feminine to agree with the noun. Other nouns do that too like el hacha (the hatchet), el águila (the eagle), el alma (the soul), etc. Hope that helps!

    Las podemos poner aqui o podemos poner las aqui o las poner aqui?

    • @SpanishPlayground
      @SpanishPlayground  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The pronoun can go before a conjugated verb (one that has been changed to match a subject) or attached to the end of an infinitive (the base for that ends in -ar, -er, -ir). Both placements are correct. The options would be - Las podemos poner aquí. Or - Podemos ponerlas aquí. There is no difference in meaning.
