- The occasion is the 3-day state visit of King Charles III. and Queen Consort Camilla of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Germany.
The video shows the arrival of the royal couple at the government terminal, the military part (flight readiness BMVg) of BER Airport. Upon the exit of King Charles III. 21 gun salutes are fired from the aircraft by the 1st company of the guard battalion. 6 guns of American design are used for this purpose. At the same time, 2 Eurofighters fly over the government terminal. They had escorted the plane from the border to Berlin. For historical reasons, the guard of honor came in naval uniform.

In 1967 E2R visited Canada, watched her arrival at Uplands aeroport on tv. The lights turned on when in the sky and the plane landed and The Queen emerged, fun thing for a little kid.
In view of this friendly visit by the British King Charles III to Germany, it also becomes emotionally clear what a monstrous catastrophe the two world wars in Europe represented, that the British and French on the one hand and Germans on the other became enemies, which should never happen again. How could it get so far?! At least from now on our 3 countries should agree to always have to be friends with each other, no matter what.

Highly disciplined soldiers, brilliant precision moves. Our Royal family do of course have a lot of roots in Germany... Queen Victoria herself spoke German mainly in the Palace, but English to the servants. Very impressed how King Charles spoke good German.

Not forgetting the 1st king George was German and didn't speak English either. The Royal Family changed their name after the 1st world war because it was a German Name. Saxe Coburgh. Their German cousins were some of the VERY FEW allowed at Philips funeral.

he didnt really speak german, he learned some phrases to repeat, but he cant speak german overall.
in respect to the roots.... since 1714 the royal family has basicly exclusively married into/from the house Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha and their branches from northern germany.
the only exceptions in 13 generations are the mother of the queen and now charles.
Thats not only roots, but the house s still basicly german to the core.
We actually saw them yesterday here in Berlin, even though it was not planned from our side. We just left Ikea (yes! 😅) and the main road nearby was closed because King Charles and his wife were driving through. I used to live in London for 2 years but never saw anyone from the Royal Family during my time there. But seeing them now here in Berlin was really nice.

Great drill from the German Sailors, I like that they are using the K98 Rifle, a G36 wouldn't look good for this. The British Army should go back to using the L1A1 or Lee Enfield No 4 for ceremonial duties.
I almost shed an unmanly tear when I had to hand in my L1A1 to have it replaced by a bag of nails called an L85A1.

I think many Germans can't understand the beauty and importance of these drills because we hate to be proud and to honor others. Thanks for the video, as well as the Great Tatto video from days before. I hope to have the possibility to see the military tattoo in Edinburgh someday.
What makes you think that we Germans have a problem with being proud or with military honors?! There are many things that Germany can rightly be proud of and that is why we can celebrate such ceremonies with our heads held high.

Die Maschine war um 13.40 Uhr zu früh gelandet. Das Timing mit Salut und Überflug der Eurofighter war auf 14.10 Uhr abgestimmt, so dass Charles noch ein wenig in der Maschine warten musst. Zu früh erscheinende Gäste sind der Horror für das minutiös geplante Protokoll - auch bei weniger komplex gestalteten Besuchen.

It was not possible to do both of it because of timing. Occassions like this are very crowded so there is a so called pool solution. I ordered both places but gave the decision to our governmental press office.

In 2016, the VIP RAF Voyager became the first dedicated VIP transport plane for government ministers and the Royal Family, after such plans had been proposed and shelved repeatedly since the 1990s.
Our information is, that it was a RAF plane. In Germany the VIP planes are operatet by the air force - unit is called "Flugbereitschaft BMVg" (flight readiness by ministry of defense).

The Wachtbatallion is made up of all the three arms of the Bundeswehr, Bundesheer, Marine and Luftwaffe. The Marine element were just the ones on duty on the day.

It's from maritime history: ships had to empty its 20 cannons before entering a harbor. The 21st shot comes from the harbor to quit and allow the entry. Later it became a greeting sign for state guests.

21 Salutschüsse: historische Tradition aus der Seefahrt. Kurz vor dem Hafen haben die Schüsse ihre 20 Kanonen leer geschossen und mit einem Schuss aus dem Hafen wurde die Einfahrt erlaubt.
Bei mehrtägigen Staatsbesuchen dieser Art gehört das zum protokollarischen Programm.

Im Leerlauf haben solche Triebwerke gar nicht mal so viel Sogkraft am Lufteinlass - und der der da ist, wird je nach Entfernung zum Einlauf sehr schnell sehr viel schwächer. Bei der Entfernung die er da dran steht merkt er wahrscheinlich nichtmal bewusst den Luftzug der von der Turbine ausgeht. An seiner Weste sieht man gut, dass da zwar Bewegung in der Luft ist, es aber eher nach diffusen Luftströmen aussieht, als nach einem Sog :D
@@julibean5125 nichtsdestotrotz steht er nur damit die Gangway akkurat passt in einer Danger Area. Ob die Triebwerke Idle laufen oder nicht, passiert auch nur ein kleiner Fehler ist ganz schnell Ende. Denke die haben das schon oft so gemacht aber es wäre nicht das erste Mal dass sowas passiert 😉
