Is there any method to record voice while a video is running?

Yes, you could record your voice using an audio recording app on your smartphone. Then upload the audio file into Canva and drag it onto your video timeline

Thanks for clear explanation. Can you tell me why I can't hear the audio when I've extracted it whilst in Canva but can once I've exported the video? Sound isn't on mute, I've checked that.

It seems like there may be a bug in Canva. Try closing the app down & opening it back up again. If that doesn't solve the problem, I'd reach out to Canva support.
