What a beautiful town Toledo is. I visited Toledo years ago and still remember its charming alleys and the stunning view from the mirador. The mix of history and culture, along with the breathtaking architecture, makes Toledo a truly unforgettable destination.
Thank you very much for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and I hope it brought back good memories of Toledo. I agree with you, Toledo is a unique destination. Greetings my friend 😊
Thank you very much, my friend! It was a really exciting match until the last moment but luckily we managed to win ✌️ I'm glad you enjoyed the tour. Have a great week!!😊
Thanks for your comment my friend! I'm glad you liked it. I agree with you, this cathedral is one of my favorites in Spain, especially because it is located between labyrinthine alleys. Greetings!!
Oh really! I was surprised to hear that you found Toledo weird. Can I ask you why you found it weird? I'm curious 😄 Thank you very much for your comment. Greetings!!
Hola. A nice surprise to see a new video this week. You might know we also have a Toledo in the USA too (Ohio). I didn't actually know there was a Toledo in Spain until less than a year ago when I was looking at a map and was surprised to see it. I've traveled through Toledo, Ohio it by train 5 or 6 times, and it always seemed like a depressing manufacturing city where all the manufacturing had left. Well, at least the part I saw via train. It looks nothing like Toledo, Spain. 😄 It's amazing to see the castle at the beginning. It looks like it's right out of a storybook that you read when you're a kid. But it's a real castle! 😅 We don't have them over here. I noticed a couple of nuns in white at 6:24 and it got me wondering - do people still attend church in Spain, or has the church declined a bit over the last few decades? Anyway, at 14:51, the El Greco Museum is an interesting blend of the old and new. I generally don't care too much for modern concrete buildings, but this one blends nicely into the rest of the ancient city. The color of the walls in particular really makes it feel natural. And what a great view of the old city at 16:05! I might be wrong, but from the view up there, it seems a little different than some of the other old cities that I've seen in your videos. I don't know though, maybe I'm just looking for differences because of the varied cultural influences over the centuries. 🤔 Lots of benches at 16:17. 😉👍 Zocodover Plaza is amazing. The buildings surrounding the plaza are so beautiful, and the portico all around the plaza is so classic. At 20:04, I have no idea what that guy is saying, but he looks entertaining. 😅 I really enjoyed the walk through all the shops here. I noticed lots of tour groups. I think I read recently that tourism in Spain has recovered nicely and is up this year. Now we come to the 'wow' part. At 26:20 the cathedral is absolutely spectacular. The Gothic style is impressive. The three pointed arch doorways and the many statues all over the building, including the ones in the 'niches' are so detailed and ornate. At 28:15, it almost looks like an ancient Greek building with the columns. Interesting. At 30:25, that looked like an art display of some type? Or did somebody decide to hang their pots and pans outside. 😅 I enjoyed walking down these small back streets too, and the Callejon del Diablo. Devil Street? I did a quick search for it, but I could only get results in Spanish. Maybe I'll find something in English tomorrow, but it looks like some type of scary legend. 😄 The shot at 33:28 is very nice with the cathedral in the distance. 👍 The Alcazar at the end is impressive, and the view from high up there is fantastic. At 39:58, once again I was thinking, oh wow, don't fall! That little wall at the edge just didn't seem high enough. 😅 Anyway, enjoyed the video. Take care.
Hola! You're right, I'm a week early with this tour 😄 I took advantage of the fact that this week I was less busy to edit one of my two tours of Toledo (although I think I would need 5 or 6 tours to film the entire old town) and being able to upload it with advance. Yeah, I had heard that there was a city called Toledo in the United States but I didn't know anything else about it (I guess I would listen about it in some news). Thanks for the additional information, I have been curious and have looked for some more information about that city in Ohio. What has caught my attention the most is that it is unknown why they gave it that name and that it is larger than the original Toledo. Also it seems that there are 4 other towns called Toledo in the US but much smaller. It's a very popular name there 😄 Regarding those of the nuns, it is very common to see nuns and priests walking in these historic cities because there are many convents and monasteries in their old towns, unfortunately there are fewer and fewer nuns and priests and many of these monasteries and convents are sold and generally used as hotels (the positive part is that they can be visited by other people). As I think happens in the rest of the world, in Spain fewer and fewer people are practicing religious or frequently attend church except for special celebrations such as weddings, baptisms... The modern building you are referring to is not actually a Museum, it is a conference palace called El Greco (although you were not far off because there is also a museum in the city dedicated to this painter). The most curious thing is that it is designed by the same architect who designed the Museum of Roman Art in Merida, Rafael Moneo... Because actually all my tours are deliberately connected 🤥😝 There really is a lot of difference between the old towns of Spanish cities, depending on the part of the country in which they are located. For example, the cities of the south are very different from those of the north, since they had much more Muslim influence (in the south they remained for 700 years and in the north they barely managed to settle). On the other hand, the coastal cities of the Mediterranean in which all the buildings are usually whitewashed are also very different from the northern coastal cities where the buildings are usually made of stone. In the case of Toledo, I think the most characteristic thing is its labyrinthine alleys, it is almost impossible not to get lost without a map. Spain is the country of benches (and also the unused trash cans), there is probably more than one per inhabitant 😆 I have the impression that these benches have never been fully occupied since they were installed. I agree with you about Zocodover Square. It is the most popular place in the city, its social center where people meet. It is full of people at any time of the day... not counting tourists. As you say, there were many tourists throughout the city, because Toledo is less than an hour from Madrid and almost all international tourist excursions include a day visit to the city. You are right, this year not only has tourism recovered but the forecasts say that it will be a year of record tourists, almost 90 million international tourists in one year!! (that's almost 2 tourists per inhabitant 😲) Spain has always been the second most touristic country in the world behind France but it seems that the same forecasts say that in a few years it will be the first with more than 100 million tourists. I hope we can all fit here 😄 I also agree with you about the cathedral, it is one of the most impressive in Spain and also one of the largest. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to visit the interior so I'll have to leave it for my next visit to the city (although luckily Toledo is a city that is close to my route when I go to the Costa Blanca) I don't know exactly why pots and pans were hanging, but I thought it was funny. You are right, the translation would be that or more specifically Devil's Alley. I discovered it by chance the night before when I was walking through those alleys (don't ask how I ended up there at night 😄) and I saw a group of tourists listening to their guide's explanation about that alley. So out of curiosity I looked for information about it. As you say, it is a legend that tells that in that place there lived a sorceress who helped a young man to get the love of a girl with black magic but in the end she and her house ended up burning in a mysterious way... The typical ones things that happened at that time 😝 You're right, after your comments I'm starting to realize that the railings are very low here, I guess it's so people can sit because it's impossible to put a bench there 😄 Thank you very much as always for taking your time to watch my tours. Have a good time in Boston until the next tour. Nos vemos. Take care
