I agree with everything you said. Would have liked more scenes with Lucanis in his romance. I like the read of him being on the ace spectrum, so would have liked more non-sexual scenes of emotional/intellectual intimacy to make the journey feel more satisfying.
On Valta: I don't think she's trapped in the statue, I think she's speaking through it from somewhere else but I'm not sure if it's ever fully mentioned in the Codex.
I think you read my mind on this. I adore Veilguard. I knew immediately people weren't thinking critically when they were comparing Veilguard to DA2, and calling DA2 a "masterpiece", as though those same people didn't call it a repetitive dumpster fire when it dropped...That tumblr post you mentioned in the final thoughts was 100% accurate. And as someone who was in Solavellan hell for 10 years, I'm very pleased that THAT is over 😂. And I was happy with how it ended! It felt right, at least for my Lavellan. Oh, Solas, I'll miss you in any potential future games, my beloved egg. Anyway, I'm a Lucanis girlie for Veilguard, and loved his slow burn romance. My only complaint is I wanted more Spite. Just in general, not necessarily in regards to the romance. I love Spite so much. And to quickly touch on Act 3...I don't think any game has given me such a roller coaster of emotions and left me in such a teary, blubbery mess before (The Mass Effect trilogy did get me close though). At any rate, thank you for the wonderful, well thought out video! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go start my third Veilguard playthrough. This time, I'll be Mourn Watch Rook romancing Emmrich 😍
My petty grievance with Veilguard is that there was no Drayden cameo. I loved them so much in the audio drama series Vows & Vengeance. I wanted them to appear as, like, a recruited librarian, like the random inquisition agents you can recruit, or at least a quick appearance in a side quest , but NO. *huffs*
Another Dragon-Age-obsessed autistic here. I agree with your analysis. I enjoyed Veilguard a lot. I think it will take me a few more playthroughs to properly rank it among the other games - currently doing my save-Trevisio & romance-Neve playthrough and taking my time with it. Lucanis is my favorite, and I agree that he is outstandingly written, especially if you save Treviso and trigger his Inner Demons personal quest (you are locked out of it if you save Minrathous). I hope there are options for polyamory in future games, as I was really digging the Lucanis-Neve chemistry and wanted us to be all together.
I play Bioware games on launch since BG 1 and am a huge fan of Dragon Age, it is my favorite game universe. I loved Veilguard and am on my fourth walkthrough currently. It is my personal GOTY. Does it have problems? Absolutely - like any other game, nothing is perfect. Does it prevent me from enjoying it? Not at all.) Personally I disliked the combat at first, but now on my forth run I started to appreciate it more and even enjoy it. Still prefer the classic RPG style in general, but combat is not the most important part in games for me anyway, so I'll live with that.
Constant overs3xualising of SWANA and Asian inspired races ie Isabela's outfits, the Qunari, also the constant making out of the Qunari as animalistic and mindless and violent If you genuinely want to know and aren't here to be argumentative: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orientalism_(book) brialavellan.tumblr.com/post/653289466999554048/i-will-definitely-try-this-is-mostly-in-the
@@thegamesaint Thank you very much for such informative material. Perhaps I am being naive for never associating Isabela's sex appeal with her skin tone to consider it an enforced attribute. Within Thedas, it is the elven peoples that get fetishized to a disgusting extent - made worse by the social station enforced by their human oppressors. I also noticed you perchased the Artbook; it has a much better concept art of Pirate Queen Isabela! (no parrots though). As for the Qunari... I read the link, and I agree to an extent, but I may lack the proper mental framework to fully comprehend the problematic element. Still, animalistic, mindless and violent isn't how I would describe the Qunari - even with Veilguard's rather antagonistic depiction of the Body(Antaam).

@@scw55 completely valid! I believe his writer said she wrote him from an ace perspective ✨

I wish you luck!! Emmrich was a very fun time to romance ✨

OH YEAH I thought that was strange too! Dryden was such a cool character

Polyamory would have been a really good option, I wholeheartedly agree!

Thank you!
Sigh, okay... I am asking the question: Where ever was the orientalism in Dragon Age?

@Billpro25 oh absolutely definitely agree that the pirate outfit is better
@@thegamesaint At least they kept the hat.
@Billpro25 LOL YEAH it's a feature at this point 😂
