Snow Mountain Theme (スーパーマリオ64) sight-read by Tom Brier

  • This tune, either as Snow Mountain, Cool Cool Mountain, Slider, or Bob-omb Battlefield -- all different versions of the same tune -- has been requested a lot. It is a fun tune indeed. Download my piano arrangement here: www.keeper1st.com/music/coolco... or from my site www.keeper1st.com/music/vgm.html
TH-camr "wheelmanmitch" transcribed the entire band arrangement of it, which I then condensed into piano sheet music.
As always, Tom adds a lot more than what's on the page.
Recorded 19 May 2012 at the Sutter Creek Ice Cream Emporium, 51 Main Street, Sutter Creek, California. This was after the May 2012 meeting of the Mother Lode Ragtime Society.

That part starting at 5:19 almost made me cry. It was like the ending the song deserved. The end of a nostalgic era: everything was so simple when I was a child, and like every child, I always wanted to be an adult, to get a job and a house, it was just a matter of time to be an adult... Now as an adult, I just want to be a child again, but unfortunately I can't travel back in time, and the only way to go to the past is listening to these masterpieces, specially played by this legend. +Stuart Murray Good question. Whatever the answer is I just hope that when he dies he does so knowing that he was a legend in his own time. The man deserves that. Nintendo would not be Nintendo without him. Joy, dread, panic, sadness, hope... he has a way of expressing situations and emotions through song like sounds are a language that he himself created. A language that everyone fluently understands as soon as they hear it and most musicians dream to speak.

When I'm old and gray and come back to TH-cam 40 years from now, I'm going to come back to this & feel the exact same levels of pure joy and happiness I always feel when I watch this.
There's no ego, no alternate judgement or opposing thought that could EVER break this natural feeling of pure joy and happiness.
    Sensational! ❤️

It's been over 10 years, I met Tom when I was a tenager, now I'm a grown up man with my own family, and still Tom continue to amaze me and by far he is the musician that most inspires me on what I should bring to people while playing. I'm a bass and guitar player from Brazil playing brasilian rythms and It's crazy how this guy has much to teach even without meeting personally and huge cultural difference.
If you are musician too, let's preserve this feeling that Tom brings to us and keep what really matters in music despite of the instrument and genre we are playing. Music is not only about technique but also about healling people.
