Thanks For Watching!
Great video as always 👍
Thank you.
I saw 2 tampers yesterday at Northallerton, went to see them. I love them cos they're only little ones, with their little baby horns. :)
Ah cool, were they Volker Rail tampers too?
Nice Video and Catch! 👍🏻 There are new gates here now.
Thanks. Yeah, I've seen them in person earlier this year when I passed by Sleaford, but didn't film them.
Cool that Network Rail can automate those old gates, shame they don't seem to be able to clean / paint them smh my head.
They didn't, it's a wheel that is turned inside the signal box.
Unfortunately, they aren't automated as such. There is a signaller that turns a wheel inside the Sleaford West signal box seen in the video. The wheel pulls on some cables which close the gates. There will also be a lever to lock and unlock the gates in their positions. The gates have also been replaced with new, clean, white ones since my last visit but I've been unable to film them yet.
I can't believe that van narrowly missed the gates
It's alright, the signaller in the signal box only closes the gates when there is a gap in the traffic or when no vehicles are approaching.
Nice vid
Thanks.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel sorry i was so late to comment I had to help
@@henrybrookman3276 No problem at all, leaving a comment no matter how late is appreciated :)
Not many level crossings like this left in the UK.
Very good video mate.
Thank you! Yes, a rare example of a set of gates on a mainline railway and not a heritage one.
Nice! Wonder why it hasn't been upgraded yet?
Thanks. Not too sure why it's still like it is. It is possible that a large resignalling project is required covering Sleaford as boxes at Sleaford East and Sleaford West are still active and operate each crossing respectively. There's also a few semaphore signals dotted around for the Sleaford Sidings.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel hopefully it's like this in my February visit. The i'll let them upgrade it 😏
@EastAngliaLC_UK I've not found any plans or announcements by NR to change this crossing so you should be alright :)
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel good to hear! I've got some places to see tomorrow so I have to check if South Woodham is getting new ped lights
Why did the train go forwards over the crossing and then backwards over the crossing?
To go from a track to another, probably.
It was leaving some sidings in Sleaford and changing tracks. There's a set of points just to right of the crossing.
