Today we will talk about installing and installing LED tape with our own hands.
Typically, the standard length of a single LED tape wound on a reel of 5 meters. On one side of the led tape are soldered wires to connect it to the power supply. In most cases, the wires are soldered on both sides, but this does not mean that the LED strip can be connected one to the other in series.
It is not recommended to connect two or more LED strips in series, by the fact that firstly, there is a risk that the tracks on which the current flows through the entire LED strip will be burned, and secondly, the LEDs on the subsequent connected segment will not shine as brightly as claimed by the manufacturer.
If you need to connect more than 5 meters of LED tape, you need to apply voltage from the power supply to each tape separately.
This can be done in several ways:
    1. If you do not have more than 10 meters of tape, place the power supply between the LED strips. This connection is called parallel.
    2. Route the wire from the power supply to the LED strips. On the cross-section of such a wire I'll tell in my next video clip "How to connect the LED strip to the power supply. Calculation of wires and power supply for LED strip. "
    3. Use multiple power supplies to connect the LED strips.
In order for the LED strip to stick well and permanently onto the surface you need before installing the LED strip, you must carefully prepare this surface.
On the putty surfaces of the ceiling, you can install the LED strip only after painting it.
LED strips of high power heat up strongly, so they are better to be glued on pre-installed and defatted aluminum profiles, corners or strips.
Use the LED tape on the basis of an adhesive tape "3M", such labeling of adhesive tape is applied on its reverse side, on the protective tape of the tape.
But as practice has shown, after about six months, the LED ribbon begins to peel off. According to my observations, this is due to the fact that the adhesive tape from high temperatures during this period loses its elasticity and dries up. Then (according to the laws of physics), when the LED strip is turned on, it heats up and expands. After switching off, the LED lightens and the tape decreases again in size. By eye, these changes, of course, are not visible. As a result, the dried adhesive base of scotch breaks away from the surface on which it is glued.
It is especially important to firmly fix the LED strip if it is glued under a stretch ceiling or vertically on a wall.
Super glue does not always help. The tape after a time falls off again, and the super glue remains on the surface. In this case, use a glue gun. After you paste the LED tape, apply glue drops between the LEDs, where there are no resistors, to its edges, at short distances.
Sometimes it turns out that we need to bend the tape at an angle. This can be done in several ways.
The simplest way is to bend the LED strip between the LEDs, where there are no resistors. Make 2 folds of the tape under 45 degrees each in the direction you need.
The next way is to make measurements and cut the LED strip on the label. In the place of its turn, solder wires (plus plus, and minus to minus), then start to glue the tape from the corner first to one and then to the other side.
The third method exactly repeats the previous one, only with the difference that instead of soldering you will have to purchase the corner connectors for the LED ribbon (picture). However, I do not recommend using them, since they do not always connect the LED strip contacts securely enough, and sometimes they even have lids with a latch.
For the fourth method - it is necessary to make accurate measurements of the necessary amount of the led tape on each flat area, then cut the LED tape according to the received measurements and solder, if necessary, wires to the ends of the tape. Now it remains to paste the led tape and connect the sections of the LED tape to the power supply in convenient places. For this method, I recommend that you use multiple power supplies.
And for a few more recommendations:
If the LED strip is to be used in a dry, dust-free place, an open LED strip is suitable for installation. But if there is a chance of moisture, dust and other particles entering, it is strongly recommended to use a sealed led tape.
When cleaning, open the LED strip preferably not wipe with a rag. It is better to use a vacuum cleaner for this.
