It really is a catchy earworm, isn't it? I feel like JYPE's hit a grand slam with the girl groups all within the first month of 2024. I'm one of those folks who balked at Lexi's "I wanna thank myself" rap, especially in light of JYPE's ethical pillar of humility and Lexi's winner speech first thanking the trainers and those that helped her along the journey. THAT SAID, I also VERY MUCH agree with you that it's important to recognize one's own agency in driving toward one's accomplishments. While one may stand on the shoulders of giants, and have accepted help along the way, one almost never arrives at a destination just by being "dragged along for the ride." I also recognize the context that giving Lexi that rap and those lines serves her story throughline of giving herself credit, where she'd really only initially given credit to others. And of course, the whole message of the song is about self-actualization, of having a dream and putting in the work to achieve it. While I'm generally against the insincere and/or undeserved posturing and braggadocio in pop music (k-pop or otherwise), I do think this song delivers a positive message for young folks and dreamers, that it is belief in oneself that will propel you forward, rather than the other common message of elevating oneself by putting others down.
Yea I hear you on all of that. I understand that line can be a bit off putting, outside of context...But you summed it up perfectly in the second paragraph. It's no shade to those that helped and everything, but more so recognizing that, with YOU, YOU go nowhere at all. Believing in yourself through everything. And you're right, it's a very positive song, that I'm sure will inspire others.
Hi there, this song has definitely grown on me too (but I also want something more challenging ala NMIXX or Red Velvet (Red side)). Not only have they grown in talent but Kaylee is now taller than KG and Kendal? OMG It’s so funny that for Camila this is like “I was studying to be a nurse but this is now my career” and for Kaylee it’s like “this is the best after school club ever” (I know Kaylee is more serious than that ofc but it makes me giggle) They got to show some acting chops in this too, which we’ve already seen in the social media stuff and previous videos. Do not mistake that these girls are not singers or dancers or rappers…they are truly entertainers. I’m glad Savana likes here stuff. Handheld fans are fun but I miss the A/C robot. Edgar? Alfie? Andrew? Lexi’s hair looks good (maybe a little expensive) and if Camila ever dyes her hair i might cry. Looking forward to day 2 Oh yeah, and Gucci?!?! How do you talk about the fall and not show it? That is one of my favourite Chisa clips ever!! (And I have a lot of favourites ;-) I want that gluten free banana bread recipe! Or I’ll order one from you.
I hear you on something a bit more challenging. I want some RnB bangers as well. I don't want them to stay in the pocket. They did really good and can't wait to see what else is to come. I still haven't listened to the other song yet though. I think the AC, was Gary(from SpongeBob)?
I like the song❤
