    I started watching your videos because I live and work in Taiwan however, I can't speak Chinese, every time I went to the grocery store I saw all of these beautiful vegetables and didn't know anything about them, nor did I know how to cook them. Then I found your channel it has made my life great and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your effort. In a few months, I plan to retire in the Philippines with my wife and become a farmer. I know there is no money in being a farmer in Asia, but it will keep me fed and take care of my needs as an old man. You have been a great help to an old school teacher. Thanks again.

    Your video is honest. I am a comercial farmer and I agree the importance of organic matters in growing vegetables. I used to rely heavily on chemical fertilizers but after a while I tend to rely on them lesser. My crops become better. For example no chemical fertilizers can immitate the effects of amino acids found in organuc fertilizers derived from ocean animals or seaweed. Chemical fertilizers surely will add nutrients that your soil are lacking. Giving fast nutrients absorbtion to your crop. However amino acids are the ones that makes your crop a little bit extra mile. A week longer harvesting makes difference.

    So much great info. I had no idea why the tips of my almond tree comes out strange and wrinkled, but after seeing this video, I suspect that a lack of calcium might be the problem. I will try either some crushed eggshells, or maybe a little ground up gypsum board leftovers from a previous renovation. Thank you, and keep making videos. Subscribed.

    Thanks, very nice explanation, one question, we have cold, long winter, you mention you can put as much as you can to put organic fertilizer to decompose over winter, e.g. if i put not composed horse manure, is it possible to bring some side effect like over- something?

    • @AsianGarden2Table
      @AsianGarden2Table  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yonghai Lu
      Hi, the non-composted manure will slowly compost through winter. It won't have side effect in spring time. Better bury the manure with soil. It will really help to improve soil quality. Good luck with your garden!

    Thank you so much for you videos. There is so much to learn.
    I'm a little confused, please help me understand:
    On this video at around # 1.25 you suggest for us to add animal manure as much as possible, but to be sure to bury it deep into the ground because they have a high salt content...young seedlings will get dehydrated or burned.
    On your 2nd suggestion video #2.53 during winter time you say: " burying the organic fertilizer deep will damage the vegetables leaves and roots" )
    Should I buy rabbit manure, compost it and then bury it deep into the area which will be my veggie garden in the near future?
    Should I bury my veggie and fruit scraps where I will be planting my seedlings in September? I started doing this a few days ago!
    I also need allot of help because my compost does not turn out as nice as yours does.
    Then I'm also extremely frustrated because I have found an infestation of pill bugs ( rollie pollies). I have added grass clippings to get the compost to because very hot, however once the compost cools off because it is ready those pill bugs move into it quickly :-(
    Do you think you can help me? Blessings!

    I am watching all your videos as I get time. You mention in every video about burying organic fertilizer deep and top dress with 10 10 10 . How does this affect the life in your soil?Do you still have worms and other microbes in your soil? I am facing the same situation you mention. I am struggling with an organic container garden. Growth is too slow as compared to the work I put in. However since I have red wigglers in my containers I refrain from using inorganic. Do let me know about your soil life. Best wishes from Mumbai, India.

      Organic fertilizer is good for your soil, so add as much as you can. Inorganic fertilizer will not hurt your soil at all if you do not use too much.

      I've moved houses into a larger garden, leaving behind my old one that I've worked on for a while (20 years). The old garden soil is lush and fertile for even direct sowing and withstands rainy and high temps naturally. Since working on this new garden I've used sparingly humic and fulvic acid. These two are naturally in the soil at varying concentration especially humus. It basically helps activate the soil and nourishes the microorganisms. This used with time speeds up building the black good soil and soil culture. They help plants absorb nutrients. Most of the time it isn't even the nutrient content of soil but the bio-availability of these nutrients. I've also used kelp meal as well along side slow release balance fertilizer. I've seen improvement in yields and soil so I recommend you get humic and fulvic (approved for organic sustainable gardening). It is better to use it in low concentration and over a period of time. Happy gardening!
