I love the design of this weapon and I cannot for the life of me understand why it exists. Like... why would you not just use a regular double barrel? What benifit does the pump action on this thing serve if it only holds two rounds? Why is it so weird? I want five.
The only thing I can think of is maybe it's lighter without the second barrel. And yet still lighter than having a mag tube. Maybe it's the happy medium. From what I've read it was designed mostly for clay shooting. Still a cool design. To only have been produced for 2 years, I imagine the numbers are small.
@@michelt4390 actually when you are trying to figure out why older guns work in "odd" ways it in normally that the alternatives were patented at the time.
Apparently it was designed by a guy who was an avid clay shooter, it was patented in 1901/1902 which I think was a good twenty years before the over/under design came out. So this design allows you to have two shots without having the different leads from a side by side

id think back in the day it wouldve been a pretty good idea its basically a pump action shotgun but just a different mechanism and less rounds cause its not tube or magazine fed
@@gcart5619 If it had possibly been able to hold three rounds, then I would agree with you completely. However, seeing as this only holds two rounds, it probably didn’t provide too many advantages other than that it was single-barreled and therefore reasonably effective with sport or duck hunting. But it wouldn’t be long after this that better designs emerged and made it obsolete. Still a really cool action, though.
WOW! interesting but I would worry about how wobbly the receiver is when open it just doesnt look like its very solid when open and seems rather cumbersome to actuate the action! It would be interesting to see one after it had a few thousand rounds through it and see how the rails on the action going back and forth are standing up to REAL world use, and yes I do mean dirt, dust, mud etc.I have a hard time seeing how this could compete with like the Winchester 1897, a real pump!
I've heard about these, saw one at a gun show but it was missing parts and the owner wanted stupid money for it. Now I'll have to find a functioning example.
This is specifically for the skeet/trap crowd, who at most only need two shots at any given time. Why it's a repeater? Even back in those days, there were people looking for something unusual and unique to shoot.
It’s an odd design to be sure, but it was fully intended for skeet and trap shooting. It provided the two-shot function that was standard issue for a shotgun, but it also had the accuracy of a single-barreled shotgun. Keep in mind, the first high capacity pump-action shotgun came out in 1897, just a few years before this shotgun.
E F The Spencer and Winchesters are actually rifles and carbines, not shotguns. There was the 1887 Winchester lever-action shotgun, but that shotgun was not intended for skeet shooting.
"Okay so here's the idea, I want a double barrel shotgun" "Okay we can do that" "But I want it to only have one barrel" "What-" "Yeah, it has to hold two shots but look like a single barrel shotgun" "Alright, so you want an over-under with a shorter concealed barrel below?" "No no, I want it pump action, with a magazine well for the second shot. When you load the second round the whole front half of the weapon moves" "..." "AND I WANT IT TO HAVE AN INTERNAL CATAPULT FOR THE SPENT CASE" "You gotta stop drinking."
I feel like loading a shell in the barrel alone is even more effective than loading two, that cycling mechanism is horrible, I don't know when does this outperform a double barrel...
If you can only have 2 shells, why not use a double-barrel? As fast (or faster), plus a simpler mechanism. It looked like you might be able to get a 2nd shell into the magazine, but he only ever loaded the one. A good idea, but they didn't quite go far enough.
This is cool, but you can get the exact same effect with a double barrel shot gun, now if this was applied to a double barrel, then it'd be pretty cool, like a 4 shot double barrel.
So amazingly sleek and modern yet oldschool at the same time. I love it.
That's what I was thinking. Imagine using this mechanism for double barrel shotgun.
double the fun
Duct tape two trench guns together
Imagine using a 10 round 12 bore magazine
i think doomguy would like that
Pppp0pp

Probably some weird local government regulation about double barrel guns...

Beautiful shotgun, but it’s not hard to see why these probably didn’t take off in the market.
I agree. I'd buy one just to have tho.

@@abwihamwinkin i didnt say it was any better 🤦🏻♂️
It looks like the shooter reach is too short for the rifle. Note how his fingers get caught when closing the breach.
What an interesting design! Im not sure what the advantage over a double barrel is but it looks fun!
Lighter maybe idk
Tricking your enemies into thinking you have a single shot
Very interesting. First time I've seen that style of action on a shotgun. Looks very heavy. Taming the recoil pretty good.
Boy this looks finicky as hell. I'll take two.

Погремушка.
Пока зарядишь, весь лес знать будет, охотник идет!
What a beautiful piece!👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
just need a double barrels version of this one, perfect!

first look at one of those. Fascinating design but easy to see why it didn't last.
Never saw one before. Thank you for sharing.
pretty slick shotgun..I like it! :-)
I never heard of Young Repeating shotgun before interesting shotgun there.
This is hella cool but seems hella complex to manufacture
ok, now I'm thinking about adding this gun to add-on for hideous destructor. Thanks for idea!
What if, that gun could be modified to hold a stick mag? The cocking mechanism may be tweaked in loading another shell.

What a double action shotgun looks like
The shell "thrower" mechanism on the carrier is really interesting!
“That sounds like a double barrel with extra steps” jk, it’s pretty cool
Those are my favourite type of guns 😊

Excellent video, very interesting shotgun...........but i can imagine the reaction to this thing when the inventer tried selling the idea 🤣

Single barrel with capacity of 2 would it be hard to make it hold 5 shots .
I feel like it needs a magazine at the bottom that you load ammo through
Awesome gun. Wish it could hold more ammo
I think it’s meant for 2-gone competitions, specifically western or repeating class
what if the tube was on top?
Gostei da recarga final😂😂😂😂😂. Agora falando sério.parabens bélisima arma. Primeira q vejo asim👏👏👏👏👏
i like this shotgun could you tell how work gun from laos thanks
Уникальный предшественник современного помпового ружья, такое чудо можно найти наверное только в Америке
i dont think it wouldve been hard to make a magazine tube that goes backwards into the stock, ut other than that amazing gun!
Very nice inline repeater.
: Do you have a doublebarrel or a pump aktion shotgun?
: YES!
Neat shotgun thanks for sharing
Wow thanks for sharing what a unique gun
So its like a manual boberg but only one shot and in 12 Guage
Very interesting shotgun
Double barrel shotgun that more expensive

An interesting but crap curiosity. Cheers for posting.👍
The manual version of the AR-17
Maravilhosa e de enxer os olhos.

What brand is the leather shell holder?
Yeah, but why though?
Что это такое за чудо ???? наверное хуже не бывает ружья , как это
У нас аналог это РБ-12 - худшее ружьё,которое когда-либо было произведено.
If I have love for this shotgun, can I have more videos about this shotgun? It would be better if I could make a video.
Quien la fábrica?, nombre del modelo?
So its basically a "2 shot pump action shotgun" ?
Is this a pioneered pump?
So strange, I've never seen one of these before.
Cool as shit but really impractical when double barrels have been around since gunpowder
Nice shot gun
I'm sure it's some guy out there that could turn it into a fully auto TWO shot
Which type of gun uses name plz
very strange gun is has to be worth a fortune
Shoto reminds on RB-12.
Make it have an internal mag of sorts, like a clip fed rifle yknow :v
Il problema sta' quante volte senza volere uno si può fare capitare accidentalmente il manico della giacca o addirittura il dito .
รุ่นนี้ราคาเท่าใหร่ครับ
What shell size does it use?
Is this legal in australia
Not being able to load more than one in the internal mag drives me mad 😂
What is price that gun sir
Nice gun
could you slam fire it?

How much is it?
What is up with the weird interlacing on the video
