    Hey guys and gals! Join me at one of my workshops as I complete a portrait shoot using the Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 and other Zeiss lenses using the Rotolight Neo and Flashpoint RL600B. PLEASE THUMBS UP, SHARE, LEAVE A COMMENT, AND SUBSCRIBE!
    This shoot was completed with a model named Piper Williams that looks like she came straight out of the 1940's as we did the shoot in a 1939 Ford Standard Coupe in Georgia.
    Using the Sony A7Rii, I also use 2 other lenses in addition to the Batis, the 35mm FE Zeiss f/1.4 and the 24mm A mount Zeiss f/2.
    This is also the first video where we have included a "Super Crop" into the pictures, meaning we show you the original, and then show you a super cropped in version to show the resolution and detail in the images.
    For more information about the gear that I use and for discounts please visit:
    www.jasonlanier.com/gear
    We thank you for watching and encourage you to stick around and watch a few more while you're here!

    I love this workshop so much.
    Piper is breathtaking, the car is seriously cool, even the backdrop of the house looks great. The results speak for themselves and are make great motivation to buy the same equipment.
    As much great info as I've heard from the consolidated videos I can't imagine how much knowledge is gained from attending your workshops in person. Someday I'll be there!

    Jason I'd like to take a moment to thank you ! you are very talented and have so much to offer beginners and professionals you really do have an eye for light and beautiful photos I've been watching a lot of videos of you online TH-cam channel it's free I picked up so much and I just do it for a hobby . I really enjoy it .... I don't give compliments very often .....I would say you're probably one of the best Artist photographer out t I say that because you really have a taste for light along with different scenes .. you really have a good relationship with your models they feel very confident and beautiful as they are in The photographs .... I am going to make it to one of your on-site classes just for the experience ...I'm not blowing smoke up your ass but I must give credit where it's due !!!! how much time you put into these videos it takes hours of editing !, screw all the jealous ones that wish they were a professional and just a automatic camera freak or wishes to be professional photographer......thanks again dominick

    Jason you have certainly chosen the perfect time of day...warm afternoon sun...and the Zeiss glass ...I did not realize it had the anti reflection quality in it..can you tell me if the Zeiss glass renders truer colors? Warmer ...cooler ? These shots through the glass NO REFLECTIONS!! Incredible! You have already converted me...after quite an investment in Nikon to change to Sony...but its so worth it...thanking you for all you share ...keep up the impressive work!

    • @cristibaluta
      @cristibaluta 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Antireflection means that the light reaching the lens is not reflected back, and everyone has this coating otherwise you might lose half the light and have faded photos. This has nothing to do with the reflection in the window, you can remove it by changing the angle or with a polarizing filter. They definitely shoot from different angles so that's why the other guy had more glare. th-cam.com/video/mtmQgoOZ3cw/w-d-xo.html

    This shoot is one of my favorites Jay; Simply amazing work!.. Kind of thought it was funny that you were explaining how Zeiss coatings are so much more superior to Canon glass, when you yourself sometimes use L glass as well, though.. If he had been using an L lens and the same focal length/ aperture, it would have been a much more fair comparison.

    Hey Jason! Long time fan here, just wondered if you have a vlog on how to properly size photos in LR and PS. I feel like there is something I am doing wrong sometimes and need to know how this all works and wondered if you had a video out on it somewhere that I might be missing?

  • @lynneftw
    @lynneftw 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yes, Zeiss does well with glare. For the others, it would have been helpful to reiterate the importance (a second time) of having a circular polarizer filter at that moment in the workshop...anytime you're working around glass, water...reflections in general. Nice shoot :D

    Thanks to this video, i am now experimenting with my focus peaking on my Sony A65 at 1am CST...haha..It was set on white and changing it to red is much better. Yellow was another option but no good to me.

    The Zeiss Batis comes in 25mm and not 24 mm unless you are making some reduction in cropping rating. A 25mm lens should give an estimated focus of 36mm with a magnification of 1.5x.
