I think that it is also a reaction to the negative feedback he has gotten on the previous videos, its like he is overly happy here, almost acting. To me at least:) But i agree it is so much more enjoyable !
Exactly what makes a good video. Forget the score, just relax and enjoy a beautiful course that you've got the privilege to play. Negative Rick has been getting hard to watch lately
This is Rick in his best form. Calm, happy, relaxed, and playing decent golf. Nothing crazy, no complaining, no trying too hard. Makes for great and easy viewing Rick! ❤
Multiple great things in this video: 1) Mr. Saunders. 2) your new outlook on the game (attitude) 3) the way you’re hitting the ball. Really was one of my favorite videos in a long time.
This is the best content I have seen in a while. I’m through the first 10 minutes and can already tell your mental game is a lot better, not letting bad shots get to your head. Great work!
Rick, what a relief. It’s so nice to see you back to what I think we’d all consider is ‘your best self’ Spent far too long getting hung up on chasing the figures that you lost the feeling of golf. This is ace, what a way to spend an evening watching this! You played well and made an even better video in the process. 💪🏻
Mr. Shiels, this video was exceptional. Please do not take offense to this, but it's been a real pleasure watching this kind of golfing from you. Cool, calm, collected. No complaining, morning, groaning. Just full wholesome golf. Love your show!
Rick i can definitely tell you have been working on not being so hard on yourself. You accepting the shots you hit without beating yourself up has really REALLY improved your game. Hell yeah Rick, love seeing you play good and having fun. Positivity all the way👍
I absolutely LOVED the stats shown in the video. I’ve always wanted to keep track of it when watching the videos but it’s such a nice addition to show it to us
This was extremely relaxing to watch. Keeping your cool through the frustrations that inherently come with the game is inspiring for everyone watching!
We didn’t see every one of Roy’s shots, but I feel like he beat you Rick! Plus, he was so gracious helping to fix your divots and sharing stories. He was a highlight of the video.
It’s so great to see you play with a much more positive attitude and a more relaxed swing. Your improvements have been awesome to watch - keep up the great content, and the great golf!
Love the positivity in Rick‘s game in this video. I think I can say with some confidence that we are not watching break 75 to see “really good golf “. We like Rick, the courses, the knowledge we can gain, and living vicariously through someone who gets to play golf a lot more than we do. And at a much higher level than the vast majority of golfers on the planet. Thanks for what you guys do! -Ryan
I agree with everyone saying you began the video with a much improved mindset and your swing was looking so much smoother. You were waiting for the ball and the transition into your downswing was so much better.... But when the wheels started to fall off those negative thought demons started to creep in again. When you start to struggle and get down on yourself, try just reminding yourself that you are playing Bay Hill (or any of the incredible courses you tee out up on). Just be thankful for being healthy and having the opportunity to play courses most golfers would chew your arm off to get on. If you can't truly enjoy that regardless of how you play then you need to reassess your chosen career. Keep swinging mate!
I don’t think you could have asked for a better host. The little we saw of him was great. I loved that he didn’t want to say that he may have beaten Arnold when he was beyond his prime. That sort of loyalty is too rare these days. You are a lucky man Rick. Enjoy every moment. Cheers for the entertainment
Nice to see a smile back on Rick's face👍Thank you for the tour around Bay Hill. It really is a privilege to see all these amazing venues through your videos.
When Rick is calm and enjoying the day it makes it so much fun to watch. Makes me feel like when i play next that I can handle my own frustrations and just laugh it off and talk out loud what went wrong, instead of keeping all those thoughts in my head and overthinking every shot
That was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful golf course with us. Really great to see you play a round. You have a beautiful effortless swing that is a joy to watch!
Rick accepting his ability and trying to break 80 and not 75 makes him much more relaxed and no Guy makes a video much more enjoyable. Great stuff RIck.
It’s really enjoyable watching this shot by shot. Played the course a few times several years ago. It’s a special place with Arnie’s spirit and family keeping it that way.
Back to watching full video. I could watch you shoot 99 If your head space is putting out positive content. We are all out here struggling around the course so we don't need to see Rick lose his head. This was a great video were holes never went your way but you excepted it and played some good golf. Big thumbs up.
Glad to see you playing well, Rick! I played Bay Hill 3 years ago from the back back tees. It was long. Hole 16 was my only birdie that day. I love watching videos of you playing courses I've played; it brings back so many memories.
Been watching you for sooo long rick. I love your videos regardless if you play good or bad golf. I dont usually leave comments because I watch your videos on my xbox and I cant leave comments on that. But had to pick up my phone just to comment on this one. You seem mentally in a really good place. Happy, comfident and seemed like you were loving playing golf. Great video Rick, Im really happy for you, thank you for your hard work and dedication to your channels and your fans-followers. We appreciate you rick.
I'm a rookie getting into golf and this video helped A LOT! From course ettiquette to putting to just driving the dang golf cart. Now I know what that weird, white, plastic bottle is for! 😂 Love the cinematography as well. My only suggestion is to show a little more info about the putts, specifically the estimated distance in feet of the lag putts.
Watched Roy when he was out with James Robinson and he is a complete gentleman. Well played, Rick. You looked like you enjoyed it, rather than endured it, this time.
Good to see. You seem so much more chilled in this round, obviously enjoying the course and the company of Roy (what a great bloke he is). Keep it up mate
What a difference in demeanour and expectation - really enjoyable watch. Couple of run outs hitting the sand and a couple of iffy holes and that could have been a break 75 score! Keep it up Rick!
Stumpy would of been proud Rick. If he could of he definitely would of given you a double thumbs up. Your attitude was in such a better place, you hit some good shots, you plotted yourself around the course, you new when to take your medicine, you took the positive out of the shots rather than the score at times, you had a lower expectation on a few shots which relaxed you a little more. Congratulations!! ⛳️
Not only is Rick's attitude so much better than the last couple of videos, but his swing looks way way better. I know the dates the videos are filmed are not the order they are released in. That would explain why the last couple course vids Ricks swing looked like the same flippy handsy inconsistent stuff it's been for the past few years, and the scores were atrocious. In this video his swing looked positively dialed, despite the "just ok" score. Rick's chipping and pitching also looked way more confident, even if all the results were not there yet. If Rick can stay disciplined and keep these changes in his mental and physical golf game, he will be a totally different player. This video was like night and day, great stuff.
Great round, Rick! Love seeing the positive vibes and you finding the positives in even the not so great shots. Looking forward to the next break 75. 😀
One of your best golf videos, Rick! I'm trying to be more disciplined in my own game by not letting frustration ruin what could be a solid round! Great attitude and great example, keep it up....
Crackin video Rick, a better vibe and it brought you better results, it was a pleasure to watch. Biggest take away for me was your confidence around the greens on "those" chips, no mention of a putter and you found a great touch from all kinds of situations, very well done Rick.!!
Brilliant Rick. Much more positive. Good shots. Few missed putts cost you a much better score. But honestly much much better to watch, happier vibes. Good to see
Roy is an absolute gamer! Great round for him. I also appreciate the new, more positive attitude around the course Rick! Well done. It makes for a much more enjoyable watch. Finally, I do really like the stats added. It’s a fun new change. Awesome video. Thanks.
Great video, so much more relaxed, and it’s nice to just watch Rick play, on his own, talk through his thinking without the other TH-camrs or crazy challengers
So close. Such an improvement in the short game. Much much better than last time. The attitude is way better than recently. Beautiful course. Thanks for showing us around. Looking forward to the next adventure
Love this Rick! Compared to recent videos, your swing looks so much easier here, you're not getting in your head and you're not trying these crazy shot shapes
It was 2004 and I took a group of sales people and customers to Bay Hill for a couple of days. It was probably the week before the tournament and the stands and pavilions were getting put up. I came down for breakfast the first morning and there, two tables over eating eggs and reading a paper was Arnold Palmer. Iconic. He was out on the course when we were that day. I was leaning on my driver with one of my guys on the tenth tee, a dogleg right over a hill. Having come from the north, basking in thew sun a cart came over the hill, headed right towards us. Shock of white hair, cartruse golf shirt, it was him. As he drove by he smiled, nodded and waved as did we. I looked at my partner and said: was that the coolest thing that ever happened to you? Arnie.
Roy was lights out, very interested to know what he shot. Great round Rick, definitely can see the mental benefits working on your game has had. Not continuing to beat yourself up after a bad hole or two, trusting in your game and looking forward to the positives to come!
I love Rick's new mindset, as challenging as it must be for him. There are some moments where you can almost hear Rick thinking to himself: Serenity now. SERENITY NOW!
8 over is a bloody good score. Need to remember you are playing some of the toughest golf courses in the world that are designed to challenge the best of the best. Nice to see you enjoy your golf again, its looking good from here.
Got to hole 5(still watching!) and impressed as to Rick’s tempo in the swing - way better! Big thumbs up- we all have bad days but you are a battler mate! Keep at it!
Loving how much lighter & positive Rick is,it’s nice to not see him beating himself up,he seems to actually be enjoying it more & accepting the difficulty of the course, keep it up mate, makes for a more enjoyable video 👌
Great lesson in having a positive mental attitude there. I get a tendency to get frustrated too easily and watching this made me realise that I'm not having as much fun as I could be if I just stayed positive.
Thank you for providing coverage and commentary on Anthony Kim. I appreciate your attitude on covering him compared to the totally dismissive attitude of mainstream golf media. My guess is that he has nowhere to go but up. How far up is something we all (that care) get a chance to see. Maybe Greg Norman sees something others don't - he usually does...
Only been watching for 15 mins but Rick seems way more relaxed in this video, accepting the shots and playing from there
Yeah you can tell this was filmed more recently and he's been working on both his game and his head
Exactly. No too high of expectations. Playing it shot to shot. Staying positive. SO MUCH more enjoyable.
I think that it is also a reaction to the negative feedback he has gotten on the previous videos, its like he is overly happy here, almost acting. To me at least:)
But i agree it is so much more enjoyable !
Exactly what makes a good video. Forget the score, just relax and enjoy a beautiful course that you've got the privilege to play. Negative Rick has been getting hard to watch lately
good call.
This is Rick in his best form. Calm, happy, relaxed, and playing decent golf. Nothing crazy, no complaining, no trying too hard. Makes for great and easy viewing Rick! ❤
agreed. most enjoyable one (for me) in ages
I agree. Even if Rick doesn't shoot the best these videos are more enjoyable when he is relaxed and enjoying himself.
Pretty bad putting today
Not that great but hey, at least he wasn't playing "army golf."
Looks like he slowed down his swing a bit, quit trying to kill the ball
This is the Rick we know and love. Full vibes whatever shot comes out. You love to see it.
"everyone calls the alligator Stumpy, but I bet the alligator won't have any idea that his name's Stumpy"
Rick Shiels, 2024
I haven’t watched Rick in a couple years. Has he been doing otherwise?
Multiple great things in this video: 1) Mr. Saunders. 2) your new outlook on the game (attitude) 3) the way you’re hitting the ball. Really was one of my favorite videos in a long time.
Having the stats on there in the video is an excellent addition to the content! Love it. Keep it up Rick and Team!
This may be the most chill and "real" we've seen of Rick, especially at the intro, and I'm kinda a big fan of it.
This is the best content I have seen in a while. I’m through the first 10 minutes and can already tell your mental game is a lot better, not letting bad shots get to your head. Great work!
Loving the attitude and mental game in this one, Rick! Keep it up!
Beautiful cinematography in this video, great editing, and some fabulous shots from Rick and Roy. Love to see it!
Love your videos Rick. Unlike almost all other TH-cam golf channels, your videos come across as a genuine human experience. Cheers!
Best and most confident I’ve seen Rick play in awhile. I love the vibe and I love the stats shown after 9
He's a weekend warrior
Rick, what a relief.
It’s so nice to see you back to what I think we’d all consider is ‘your best self’
Spent far too long getting hung up on chasing the figures that you lost the feeling of golf.
This is ace, what a way to spend an evening watching this! You played well and made an even better video in the process. 💪🏻
Great video Rick. Love to see you happy man keep it up!
Mr. Shiels, this video was exceptional. Please do not take offense to this, but it's been a real pleasure watching this kind of golfing from you. Cool, calm, collected. No complaining, morning, groaning. Just full wholesome golf. Love your show!
I need to channel this version of Rick my next round! Well done good Sir! This is one of your best videos I've seen so far. Just great vibes!
Rick i can definitely tell you have been working on not being so hard on yourself. You accepting the shots you hit without beating yourself up has really REALLY improved your game. Hell yeah Rick, love seeing you play good and having fun. Positivity all the way👍

What does Roy play off??
Yeah would be nice to see some more shots of Roy as well...
From the shots we did see he looks a solid player! Would've also liked to have known what he plays off & what he scored!
+rickshielsgolf can you let us know how Roy got on...
@tomsimpson7476 Roy is a 3 handicap, I believe that is what he said in James Robinsons video from a few days ago
Absolutely love this one Rick! You were so much more relaxed and played some fantastic stuff! Great content…was rooting for you the whole way!!
This is the best video in over a year! Ricks cool, calm and collected. Love to see the mental game improve!
Yep, your positivity and appreciation for the game made this video 100% more enjoyable for viewers and for you, Rick. Good going.
I love these episodes that you do. But could you do another break 70, break 75, and a break 80 with you Guy and James
James 70, Guy 75, Rick 80? 👀
@@pauls2668Guy 90.. maybe..
It’s so great to see you play with a much more positive attitude and a more relaxed swing. Your improvements have been awesome to watch - keep up the great content, and the great golf!
Most mature golf I have seen Rick play. A real pleasure to see him take the rough and smooth in his stride.
Love the positivity in Rick‘s game in this video. I think I can say with some confidence that we are not watching break 75 to see “really good golf “. Rick saying he is going to retire old bluey for the 100th time is hilarious
Can’t remember the last time he hit it even half decent
yeah but if he does, we riot
@@Hatori64got a special one for you today
Is it really a club issue?
Yeah definitely bluey’s fault

Illegal drop on 16, Rick! Must take full relief. Naughty boy! ;-)
Not as bad as the one Pete Finch took the other day though!
@@ToffeemanPeteWhat!! You have to be kiddin....
Two shot penalty 😂
I thought someone would catch that, lol.

That driver needs to stay in the bag!
Wow. 8 minutes in and I’m loving ricks attitude. It’s so much nicer seeing him enjoy the golf! He plays better too!
What did Roy shoot?
This is the Rick we know and love. Full vibes whatever shot comes out. You love to see it.
That was awesome! Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful golf course with us. Really great to see you play a round. You have a beautiful effortless swing that is a joy to watch!
I really love this calm Rick, in a clear state of mind, not too many thoughts, just playing golf and giving us an enjoyable round 🥳
Good to see a positive, upbeat Rick👍 Playing better golf when you're not beating yourself up👍 Great video this week , thank you 👍
Watching Rick have fun is so fun. I was living & dying those last 5-6 holes. Great vid.
Welcome back, Rick.
Rick accepting his ability and trying to break 80 and not 75 makes him much more relaxed and no Guy makes a video much more enjoyable. Great stuff RIck.

One of the best videos you have done in a while, refreshing to watch. Really postive, happy and good golf ⛳😁
Love the change in attitude in this video, much better vibes 👍🏻🏌🏼♂️
Really nice to see a round with the 'older' generation. Adds an element of calmness to the round and what I'd say is a more relaxed/composed Rick.
One of your best golf videos, Rick! I'm trying to be more disciplined in my own game by not letting frustration ruin what could be a solid round! Great attitude and great example, keep it up....
Really enjoyed this one, much better attitude from Rick towards his own game and himself. Bay Hill is awesome.
Love the attitude! And an 80 at Bay Hill is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. Keep 'em coming!
Excellent video. What a great course to play. Roy is a real gentleman and a marvellous host. To play with Arnold’s son in law is special.

Agree. The last 5-9 videos have been rubbish negative. This was good
Great lesson in having a positive mental attitude there. I get a tendency to get frustrated too easily and watching this made me realise that I'm not having as much fun as I could be if I just stayed positive.
Good to see Rick being positive all (most) of the way round. Much easier to watch. Well done Rick keep that up.😃
This version of Rick might just break 70 this year. Much more confident and less affected by negativity! Great video!
What a difference in attitude and mental approach - makes for a much better and more enjoyable video 🙌
Rick mate, so refreshing seeing things positive and not vexed etc. I like you play better golf when chilled and relaxed. Good man.
Rick’s energy is great at the moment, this video is a joy!
Much more entertaining when Rick has a more positive mindset. Best video he has released in a long while.
great round with Roy, this was a treat to watch, ty for all your work!
Great video, so nice to see Rick enjoying his round on a sensational course. Keep up the positivity.
Your mind set and mental game is so much better than it was last year , your game has improved and you’re actually enjoying yourself
The Bay Hill theme colors on the tracers is such a nice touch. Well done Rick. Class.
Great video. I was out there today for the final round. Your video was the cherry on top of a great day. Thanks!
I watched Roy's swing at times over and over again. The guy can golf his ball and it seems so simple.
Love the energy, the confidence, the course, and the strokes!! Great vid

Super vid. Loved the performance stats after first 9 (let’s have it after 18 too). Mostly seeing Rick smile his way around the course was a joy.
Excellent video Rick. Always nice watching a round at Bay Hill. I've been to the API several times. I spend most of my time on the 6th tee.
Liking this new positive Rick. Seems very relaxed and not overthinking. Loving it!!
Rick you're honestly amazing. Love the vibes and energy in this video!!
“Stumpy doesn’t know that he’s called Stumpy.” 🤯 brilliant 19:40
Am I the only one who thinks that Rick is very very high in this video
Loving the mid round stats!! The production of this video is so slick! 🔥
Also loving Roy - what a legend 🫶🏼❤️
