    The loader tractor would be a LOT fast with the bucket on moving the new stone 🤔🤔

    Saw these vids come up whilst watching the steels for the yard.
    Love your little trailer.
    I bought a similar one at a Farm Sale in Battle in Sussex.
    Towed it home with my Citroen BX at up to 50mph!
    Only when I go home did I find out the bed wasn't bolted to the chassis.
    Restored it and made a great trailer for Horse muck at the Stables. Still going strong today.
    Crack On!

    The job's coming along well, I thought you were going to rip up way more than that. My family laid loads of concrete on the yards and roads around our old farm in Hertfordshire. I'm pretty sure they laid that on the chalk just under the surface, we were near the pitstone tunnel cement chalk pits, there was loads of it around that area. That would of been about 40 years ago but the whole farms been demolished now, it's kind of sad it was an old Rothschild family farm of historic importance.
    Thats a fancy truck bringing in the base, but you'd of thought with the way it's set up with the roll tarp and the tailgate having all the remote functions from the cab. Somebody would of made the tailgate latches different, so the driver didn't have to pick rock out with a screwdriver before locking it from the cab . Thanks for the video' take care guys.

    No one's mentioned you need a larger trailer or a bigger digger. I'm guessing they must be out working to pay for them.

    They laid that concrete onto the ground without a foundation must went an used a roller and packed the soil so to lay the concrete and it held up for 40 years. It might have been that a rock formation under the soil to allow pouring of the concrete onto the ground nice video Richard.

    New flat clean concrete pad will make you feel better about things. Not sure why it does. Will make your life easier for sure. 🤙

    In your last video you said the concrete was damaged by silage effluent but you got less nowadays. Is that because you make drier silage?

    • @thefunkyfarmer
      @thefunkyfarmer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes we don't get the effluent we used to. A few farmers have said the same.

    My father bought a new Marshal trailer just like that one in the 70's and my brother still uses it on his campsite. Look after it. They don't make them like that anymore ; )

    Some of those rocks/stones being dug up look very similar to the ones you see being ploughed up on your maize ground.

    Fill a trailer with stone just to take it 10ft and dump it, unbelievable.

      Joe Smith literally lets the digger man crack on himself and if Richard has to go do something else he would be able to instead of taking them one bucket at a time

      I'm guessing you'd be more than willing to keep going forward and back in an excavator 20-40 times just to move the chippings then? I'd say the words convenience and effeciency don't exist in your vocabulary...

      Its a lot higher to load, so would need moving more as the excavator loaded it.

    Must be no digger men round you Richard.... You need at least a 10ton machine at that job. Half day job digging out, put in the crusher run, vibrate then pour concrete all same day!!

    • @willycase6430
      @willycase6430 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephanie Robinson that would be great but that would cost a lot more than the way Richard is going to do it, with one man using his smaller slew at his own pace.

      I don’t like to be negative but I think a we hen would scrape more than that digger

      😂😂 love how people think bigger is always better but yet dont think of cost and how well a job is getting done with a little one, people like you would soon go bankrupt if running a business or farm

    • @gregshearer423
      @gregshearer423 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephanie Robinson size of the area he’s doing a 10ton would be more of pain in the arse than anything

  • @willycase6430

    Richard I was impressed by how well your concert and how well it has held up, however I think you probably do need the steel mesh and 6 inch depth with hard core base for your new concrete , because today’s concrete is not very gd compared to the concrete you used to get 40 years ago.

    • @MrPaul1f
      @MrPaul1f 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, also the contractors tractors and trailers are now a lot heavier although arguably they do run on wider tires.

    • @gregshearer423

      Alex Mclellan the digger would barely reach into and a doubt he’s going very far with it so no need for the bigger trailer

    hi richard i am a builder myself and before you lay the concrete on the stone you should wack it so it’s nice and compact so that it has a solid base 👍🏽😂🚜

    Is this asbestos concrete??

    • @JonDingle
      @JonDingle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know asbestos fibres were only used in roofing sheet and insulation products and never in floor or foundation concrete. The fibres were used to reinforce the white cement mix when making thin cement based products and as such would not be cost effective or needed in other concrete products.
