Okay, I have to answer your question about the iron in beach sand. Here by us the beach has iron sand, some parts of the beach the sand is a dark red colour. The sand dunes also has places on it that actually appear black from all the iron in the sand. I once dropped my magnetic fidget on the beach and the filaments were clearly visible as they clung to the magnets. I'm from Namibia.
