I'm 20 and I found these guys when I was in high school, I would say freshman in 2016
I first heard this song in high school and it immediately became one of my favorite songs. I just turned 30 this year and I still come back to this song quite often every year, Dear Whoever, along with many other bands, have helped me get through all of these years. I honestly wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for music and I am so thankful to every single one of them.
Most people probably don't know it, but this is a Christian song. In the song he's talking to Jesus Christ, it's pretty evident in a few parts ("You cry for me and You die for me, I try so hard to be like You"). Other songs by this band like We Cry Mercy and A Place For The End also have Christian themed lyrics. In case you're wondering, yes, all the band members are Christians, there's a video of them performing live at a church.

This version was so much better than the version that ended up on the EP they dropped. I remember them playing a bowling alley with kaddisfly one time. It was so fun watching them play. Never got to share a stage with this band. But man this was such a huge part of my past.

Totally. Forgot about them for many years, randomly came back to it and literally spent a day to enjoy my musical roots. Somehow found them back then, totally unknown, thought (and still think) they're better than f.e. Alesana n stuff. But maybe only cuz I heard Dear Whoever way more often^^ remember the Band "A Vain Attampt"? 😂 was kinda trashy but liked it back then

There's something about this kind of sound that resonates so well with me. I've heard Dear Whoever as a band compared to a cross between Alesana and Hawthorne Heights, which I agree with. But with this band, for a screamo rock band, the sound is somewhat soft and there's a good balance between clean and unclean vocals, which I really like. There are few places I've been able to find this sound again; Four Letter Lie and Mozart Season kind of had it, early Alesana had it, A Hope For Home had it. If there are any other bands that sound like this, I'd love to hear them. Sufficed to say, if I was ever in a band, this is the kind of sound I'd like to have.
My ex introduced me to this band. Took me a while to come around to it, but now Dear Whoever is one of my favorite bands. It's just a shame most of their stuff was only released as demos.

I don't listen to hardcore music anymore. But this song still holds emotions for me when I went through bad phases in depression and isolating myself from people. Still think about those days nearly everyday. People who feel suicidal or feeling like ur in a dark place, don't waste your life, cause life is beautiful and you are strong believe or not.
