You know, when I was your age, we owned a small farm in Massachusetts, with only 11 acres of land. We didn't farm it. It was just a big house with a big yard..lol. My Dad was working, going to college, while feeding and housing 8 people. My Mom worked her heart out too...Well one day back in the 70's, my Mom says, "Why don't we build, tiny houses on the land:?..and sell them cheap to couples or single people who need an affordable option"? We all said 'Great idea Mom" ! Yeah, we could put down some cement slabs and build a small house community" ! Well, money was very tight to say the least ! My parents couldn't afford a new car !...never mind building new tiny homes...so the idea faded away. That is until recently. Tiny homes are popping up all over the country. My Mom is now 87 and she said "do you see the little homes people are building"? I told you ! haha ! She was right !
Aye man I’m 19 as well, living with my mom working a full time job. Seeing this video, watching you hustle to build this home at 17 while I was probably chillin in bed on my phone really woke my ass up. Believe it or not, I was just discussing with my girlfriend how I want to build our dream home. Next thing you know I hop on TH-cam and this video came up on my suggestions. You have my respect, and me as a subscriber✊🏽 Keep up the good work.
it's wonderful and rare to see a young man of his age spend money and time doing something constructive and that he can actually use rather then spend his money and time on something that won't last. he now has a really beautiful home he built with his own 2 hands and it wasn't something he was given, he can be proud of his accomplishment. well done young man, and I hope you enjoy your lovely home for many yrs to come.
"it's rare young people spending money and time on something constructive and useful" There's something called school, not cheap but pretty popular tho
I think more people would be inclined to do so if they had a family with land to spare like this young man does. Not many people really have that option or time.
Very cool man! Im from Ghana, West-Africa and I got a 2 bedroom done just last year too. Begun in 2015... I spent cose to $15,000 getting it finished too. I moved in just this february and still buying my appliances and stuff. Big ups to you fam...

I really like the layout of your house and the finishes are beautiful. You did a great job. When I was your age I had no idea what I wanted or how to get it. That came later in life. I am impressed with you young man.
I know it’s hard to understand for some people around the world but in North America some kids are taught to save from a very young age doing odd jobs like mowing lawns or shoveling snow for old people. Then when they are teens they work part time during school and full time during summer in a retail store or a fast food restaurant. Unfortunetely gettings a job as a teen in Europe and other places in the world is impossible. 30k in a couple years is easily feasible if you save. And even if parents would have paid for it, it’s not like it’s easy to build a house. It takes a lot of work, dedication, and perseverance. People hating are doing so because they cannot imagine themselves doing it.
@@MrNasrudin123 Nah, you get higher payment in America. He was talking about getting a job with 17 years old. In Europe is very hard to do so, and if you are lucky and get one, you are paid like 1000€ minus taxes.

You did indeed get lessons for life with hands on training! The tiny home movement is real! It is BEAUTIFUL, and I'm proud of what you've accomplished! Your motivation and inspiration, is contagious, keep on doing more, don't stop! Thank You for this video!
I really don't understand why so many dislikes. I betcha most of the dislikes couldn't come close to doing anything like this themselves. This is something to be proud of! Awesome job!! Only thing I'd recommend, for fire safety, would be to have two doors: In addition to your front door, a back door. That has saves a lot of lives, in case of fire. Few people are as industrious as you are and it sure paid off! Question: could it make sense to do something similar by, say, putting two tall 40' containers together? I know that certified pre-owned shipping containers could be gotten pretty darn cheap.
you need to put some paneling on the open bottom, if the wind gets under that it will pick it up and flip it right over because theirs not foundations on your house.
@Meat Spin i cant see any underground foundation just concrete slabs sitting on the grass with breeze block on that, what i'm saying is he should just rig something up so the wind breaks and flows round the house and not under it were it can lift the house up.
quite an accomplishment for any young man... good show... 25 thousand for a complete home is totally awesome... you're on your way... your first property...
"I was working while my friends where playing" - looks good for a 2yrs effort , knowing whst it takes you did a great job ... consider opening your own residential building company
Bravo Bravo,Very well done wise beyond you're years a person could go a lifetime and not come close to what you accomplished! Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor lol great video. Really truly amazing!

I'm late to the party and didn't watch the entire video but I'm gonna watch your "tour" video. One part I did watch was towards the end when you discussed why it took you 2 years and how you wanted to go on thise trips with your class to have those experiences at 17, 18, or 19. Good for you man. You can find time to work on projects as you wish but you can't go back and get an experience back with people once the time has passed. Way to go. Hope things are well for ya. Now, off to watch the other tour video.
I wish I had your foresight and devotion to getting the job done in my late teens. I might not be stuck in the rent trap at the age of 44. You are an inspiration to all youngsters of there. Maybe you should start a business while you are still young; you'd probably excel at that too.
This is awesome And very inspiring. I'll be 17 in 2 weeks and want to move out soon but it's expensive to buy a home or rent. Your home may have taken a while to make but it's is worth it. It looks nicer than my parents home! I literally thought about converting a shed into a home. Thank you for uploading and sharing^^

Good job on your house young man I just thought I would share this with you I'm 53 years old and have never rented anything in my life as far as a place to live I started out with a 1953 one bedroom mobile home when I was 18 years old then bought and was 8 wide 30 ft long then went to a 8 wide 45 foot long 1962 I believe it was and then in 1992 I bought a brand new 16 by 80 one from there in 2006 and bought a large house but you have something to be proud of young man and renting is throwing your money away great job you have a very nice house
Rico g big fam of the granite myself! And yeah i made it sound sketchy in the video but i actually have a degree in instrumentation which includes a lot of classes about electricity
The Hawaiian island I am from this type of living is very common. I moved away after High School thinking I wanted the city life instead. Now in my thirties I wanna move back and join the small home communities. lol Great job on your home this was very inspiring.
its such a small house so if he falling asleep he wouldnt forget about things running because they are so close, a smoke detector would be annoying but its a very good idea
He's got at least one window in every room, and several in the living area. He's good. Most southern states only require you to have a way out in each room, and think about apartments in most places, especially older ones in NYC or Chicago, only have the door to the hallway and windows to a fire escape. So, yeah, he's good.
Im watching this nearly a year later from when it was released.... blown away bro. really like this, incredible work. use this to go forward and if not already working, practice architecture and design/interior design.
That’s pretty awesome u don’t see most 17 yr olds driven like that. Even though u ran into some obstacles it was definitely worth it in the end. I wish I had that mindset when I was 17. And I hope to instill that in my 11 yr old son now. Great video your tiny home came out amazing and u have good taste with your decor. 👍🏼 Props to u!
Yes this is very inspiring! I love how you set it up so you never have move your gaming consoles around. The house is really beautiful I especially love the tile work. I know your parents must be so proud of you.
I'm currently 13 years old drawing blueprints for my tiny house on wheels (8 by 20) this video really helped me snap out of the oh it's going to be easy it's not going to be easy but I'm sure it will be well worth it
Ive been watching all kinds of the DIY homes and I think im going to buy 4 shipping containers and just do it. If a 17 year old can build his own house with help from his friends and family why cant I?
I'm 12$ an hour cash plus a place to stay and food/drinks for the time I'm there. I dont travel to certain states however. I'm 32 and in good shape with relative knowledge

i'm not gonna lie, it isn't really build a correct way. but hey, it's not too bad. if what isn't done correctly becomes a problem, you'll find out and learn from it and how to fix it. most people wouldn't even try, just going for it is what makes it a great project.
There's no foundation to speak of, really. It's nice, but I would legitimately worry about those tiny footings sinking, especially if the ground if soft.

Your motivation and inspiration, is contagious, keep on doing more, don't stop! Thank You for this video!
Omg so inspirational! I'm 20 now, my goal is to get my degree in computer science while saving my money to build my tiny home!
You are truly a blessing and an inspiration my brother keep up the great work and much success
this guy is very smart. I like his VIDEO....I love how he put out there and explains how he built it
you are very intelligent.
what an amazing guy! the house is amazing but what I loved the most is his intelligence. Inspiring talk!
Thank you for sharing your adventure...Lovin your cozy modern cottage!
Kudos to you young man. Wish more young people were like you.
that is the future of homes dude. you are a true pioneer. you have a great idea for a business.

U hi
Gamer be like:
I laughed at this, good joke my guy
Ah, a true gamer i see
you need to put some paneling on the open bottom, if the wind gets under that it will pick it up and flip it right over because theirs not foundations on your house.
Arken Craft Lmao neck, it’s a pier and beam foundation, and paneling on the bottom of the floor??? Where they do that at??? 😂😂😂
@Meat Spin
i cant see any underground foundation just concrete slabs sitting on the grass with breeze block on that, what i'm saying is he should just rig something up so the wind breaks and flows round the house and not under it were it can lift the house up.
Arken Craft sounds like it could do some real nasty damage, merely by hard winds constantly twisting the foundation yeah. Wise call.
It would take a tornado ,and if that happened skirting wouldn't help anyway.
well being that he put the style of roof he picked. could be ok for wind surge?
All I will say you are a smart man; I'm proud that you think like this, smart money investing !!
quite an accomplishment for any young man... good show... 25 thousand for a complete home is totally awesome... you're on your way... your first property...
“ I was working , while my friends were playing “ ..... maturity !! Dope !!
Me: I think I can do this
Gets off the bed
Bed: get your ass back on
😂
"I was working while my friends where playing" - looks good for a 2yrs effort , knowing whst it takes you did a great job ... consider opening your own residential building company
Bravo Bravo,Very well done wise beyond you're years a person could go a lifetime and not come close to what you accomplished! Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor lol great video. Really truly amazing!

That was amazing. I don't understand how you got any thumbs down🤔 I tell you people are crazy! After seeing all that work a young man did, those are some heaters right here! You should be proud of yourself! You are an inspiration to me, shows me that I can build my tiny house! Thanks for sharing!💙
love your house you done a great job im 53 years old now and ready to down size love your place and ideas
Thanks for making me feel like I'm useless!!;);)
For a small house, it looks better than most average size houses 💀. like if you agree
Yeah, and landlords be like, $3576245727 a month pls
@@Silvertarian LOL
Agreed
Folks, if you save money to buy a place and rent, get a big enough down payment together so you can price rent aggressively.👍
I agree but I won't like,😈😈😈👹
When i first saw the screenshot, i thought youd taken a shipping container and converted it. Great video buddy, lots of hard work, looks good
💀
Same
Me too, when it started and I saw the foundation/subfloor I thought; "that's overkill for a container" then the wall framing, ah, now I'm tracking!
You have done an excellent job on your tiny home” it’s really beautiful!😉👍
The grind is real, mad respect bro!
I wish I had your foresight and devotion to getting the job done in my late teens. I might not be stuck in the rent trap at the age of 44. You are an inspiration to all youngsters of there. Maybe you should start a business while you are still young; you'd probably excel at that too.
dibley1973 aaaaaaaaaáà
Neptune .png it's a Shag pad 😂😂😂.. dedicated to the pussaaayyy
Everything is a rent trap, unless you lease.
dibley1973. this young guy is very smart. he successfully made it
This is awesome And very inspiring. I'll be 17 in 2 weeks and want to move out soon but it's expensive to buy a home or rent. Your home may have taken a while to make but it's is worth it. It looks nicer than my parents home! I literally thought about converting a shed into a home. Thank you for uploading and sharing^^
Lol I been 17 for 2 months and I still live with my parents.....
I recommend get a u hall or something go to a shipyard buy a old shipping unit cheep and a plot of land that can fit it solar panels power rainwater drink and everything and you’re of the grid 1 off payment for me prob 13 k all payed for
honestly whats the rush dude. live at home. save up, go to school. im 24 years old living at home. i made 44 bucks an hour as of this year and have 37 grand saved up. ill have a house payed off by my mid 30's at the rate im going. take advantage of your parents bro. itl set you up well. you dont want to be paying a mortgage at 50. wont get rich being in debt.
Brandon Harper Is that what they pay general labor workers in California now? Lmfao
You’re a good model for kids your age. This is an awesome home dude!
I put OSB as my flooring too. It was a very bad idea. During the heat, it expands and doesn't last long. Great job and good luck to you
nice job! good to listen to mom . wish i did that when i was twenty.
Nice. I particularly love the granite and tile used in the kitchen but I don't recommend experimenting with electrical work
Rico g big fam of the granite myself! And yeah i made it sound sketchy in the video but i actually have a degree in instrumentation which includes a lot of classes about electricity
AvidFilms ok
The Hawaiian island I am from this type of living is very common. I moved away after High School thinking I wanted the city life instead. Now in my thirties I wanna move back and join the small home communities. lol Great job on your home this was very inspiring.
Only 17, dude you're awesome. A lot of negative criticism in the comments but you did an awesome job considering your age.
This is a really amazing home. How did you accumulate enough money throughout high school to be able to start this project?
RESPECT YOUNG MAN SMART MOVE YOU ALWAYS HAVE YOUR OWN PLACE TOO CALL HOME!!!!
Idk why but watching this made me hungry
Me too HAHAH
Same
WOW this is extremely impressive.
Hats off to you for your dedication and Perseverance to build this Home.
I’d love a place like this! Looks cozy.
Good job, you’ll also be rent / mortgage free and save a whole lot of money. Thing will pay for itself in no time!
The only things I recommend is a back door in case of a fire
Isaac Nichols and a smoke detector
its such a small house so if he falling asleep he wouldnt forget about things running because they are so close, a smoke detector would be annoying but its a very good idea
Here, the house would not meet code without a back door. It may be different in other states, I don't know.
He's got at least one window in every room, and several in the living area. He's good. Most southern states only require you to have a way out in each room, and think about apartments in most places, especially older ones in NYC or Chicago, only have the door to the hallway and windows to a fire escape. So, yeah, he's good.
He need more subs, this is awesome!! ❤Great Job ! I know your parents are so proud of you👍
Beautiful .... have you thought about adding slide doors ?
Im watching this nearly a year later from when it was released.... blown away bro. really like this, incredible work. use this to go forward and if not already working, practice architecture and design/interior design.
I’m building a semi small house on my parents property as well! Also 19. It’s cool to design your own space
Hello, I have been watching you from Turkey and greet, I congratulate you become competent,🇹🇷

I like your house very simple easy to clean lol x
I'm currently 13 years old drawing blueprints for my tiny house on wheels (8 by 20) this video really helped me snap out of the oh it's going to be easy it's not going to be easy but I'm sure it will be well worth it

Ive been watching all kinds of the DIY homes and I think im going to buy 4 shipping containers and just do it. If a 17 year old can build his own house with help from his friends and family why cant I?
Thank you young man , I think your home is awesome . This helps me make up my mind to gone and just do it ...
You did a very good job. Many blessings come in small packages 🙏
I’m 59 and I’m thinking of down sizing for retirement. This is the sort of thing I’m thinking of. But after 44 years of work I’m worn out.

I'm about your age, I'm remodeling investment homes still. Just gotta take your time
I’m praying for u
When i was 17 i barely could afford lunch, this guy spending 30k
30k over 2+ years? That's very affordable even on minimum wage in most places, especially if you're still living at home the whole time.
Diego Vargas exactly people are just lazy
Mommy and daddy money
He said his mom told him to build it out back. Looks like his parents own a far. He also said he saved money and didn’t really spend a lot of money. He also has a job!
@@PHLocalExtremeSports He worked for 2 years still living with his parents, even on minimum wage he would get enough for small patch of land and enough to buy the house.
Beautiful job!!

Guys I found a very good website about woodworking that is *WoodBlueprints. Com*  this website contains more then 12000 woodworking shed plans. Recommended
i'm not gonna lie, it isn't really build a correct way. but hey, it's not too bad. if what isn't done correctly becomes a problem, you'll find out and learn from it and how to fix it. most people wouldn't even try, just going for it is what makes it a great project.
Well, that first sentence wasn't spoked in a correct way, but whatayagonnado?
Just Some Random Person what is incorrect about the way it's built?
There's no foundation to speak of, really. It's nice, but I would legitimately worry about those tiny footings sinking, especially if the ground if soft.
I’m 19 and wanting to build my own home or my own tiny house, definitely inspiring! Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed your video.
You did an amazing job for that bathroom! Looked like a pro did it!
