This isn't exclusive to Nina herself, but all assassins in fiction. It's really hard to have this top operative work in your story without them killing the main cast too fast. Which is why they're given a cool introduction, whether it be killing off henchman or fighting a main character to a standstill. It makes them look cool without killing off any important characters too early.
Yeah i'm fully aware of that phenomenon, many stories share that similarity with tekken where everything and everyone is cast aside in favor the main cast. It's just funny to see how that creates situations like these where a character hasn't really done anything valuable because the writers wont let them, despite as credited and notorious they are advertised to be lol
Not necessarily all assassins, but certainly protagonist or direct antagonist ones. You tend to find that the ones we get to experience as totally competent are neither, and it makes sense really. They are contractors, and aren't going to take out anyone without either a cash incentive or a personal stake in events.

I think this is a classic example of overusing the "powerful character gets destroyed by even more powerful villain for dramatic affect" trope, they wanna show that the villain is powerful so they have them destroy another powerful character but since she is put in that role so often she never really gets to show her strength and thus the effect is lost.

Nina's worse by a country mile. She gets hired to a job and fails repeatedly. In the real world, you'd get fired for that. I know, Tekken isn't rooted in reality, but why do people keep hiring Nina? Guile, on the other hand, just wants to avenge his friend. Sadly, Bison is more powerful than him. That occurs in tons of media. In terms of actually doing his job, with the Air Force, Guile worked his way up the ranks. So, Guile doesn't suck at his job. Weird comparison, I'm sure. LOL!

I think this is a classic example of overusing the "powerful character gets destroyed by even more powerful villain for dramatic affect" trope, they wanna show that the villain is powerful so they have them destroy another powerful character but since she is put in that role so often she never really gets to show her strength and thus the effect is lost.
