I'm 57. I think this episode just covered every significant thing / person that happened during my lifetime.
Understatement. Ed was pivotal in the awareness about electric vehicles. “Who killed the electric car” is iconic in the space.
This is literally one of the most enjoyable, elucidating, entertaining talks in a long time. Eb Begley, Jr is a treasure.
Yet he speaks of an experience he saw wrong.
He doesn't talk about how a non high school graduate convinced people to murder.
He just goes along w the narrative the gov gave.
The truth is so much much darker then the begly version
H & J - I have wanted to say it 8 times before.
I have needed to say it 10 other times.
Now I know why something stopped me from committing to the keyboard.
THIS was the best episode of "...Does Stuff" I have ever had the joy of watching.
From beginning to end, the mutual admiration, respect, complete engagement, ability to roll in any and all directions on a dime, and easy laughter is a testament to and model of a long, valued relationship. All friends should aspire to look at each other this way.
Thanks, Ed. By the way, my wife is a friend...
I saw Ed on Kevin Pollak chat show and instantly worked out why people like Colombo was his best friend. He is humble and yet the most interesting interview in the world. Humble yet a genius. Mark from Brisbane Australia.
My favorite one!. Mr. Begley, you are an incredible person! Thank you! Thank you Howie and Jackelyn! Amazing
This dude on better call saul was great. Can't wait
He was great on BCS!
Also good on Addams Family Reunion
i just realized Howie looks like Walter White if all he did was chemotherapy
@@DaleLDG 🤠
@@silvercloud1641 thamk you thank you im here every week
Love the jacket, Howie! Nice look. It suits you. Ed Begley Jr is a class act, too. He's one of those guys who walks the walk.
I love him! He is such a good actor, and environmentalist!
he IS NOT A GOOD ACTOR ...WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DEFINITION YOU ARE COMPARING THIS MORON TO?
A truly wonderful man.
It’s no wonder Begley is so socially connected. He’s delightful, humble, honest, and low-drama. He’s authentic, which is a rarity, especially in his industry.
Just downloaded Ed Begley’s book on Audible, such an interesting man. He has led such an interesting life.
I'm going to download it to my Kindle after I finish watching the podcast.
I’m going to download it too on Audible as well. Going to be great!
Watch the original 12 Angry Men with his dad in it. Got pops great acting genes too.
Howie & Jackelyn - LOVE the lives!! Please keep them coming! The challenges are awesome to watch as well as the amazing guests!
this was fan friggin tastic! thanks Howie , Jackelyn, & Mr. Begley
Howie, Ed showed up 24hrs before and you didnt take him with you to the Icehouse? Just left him in the studio 😂😂
What a great guest! I was shocked to see him shed a tear while talking about his past, and keep his voice and face constant. Great job Jackie and Howie for the episode papa bless.
I’d never heard of Ed Begley, but now I want to binge watch everything he’s been involved with. Fascinating to listen to and he does great impressions too! I liked his Brando .
This has been the best podcast episode yet, and that's saying something! LOVE Ed Begley Jr's work and this was a real fascinating insight into him and his life. Howie's back and forth is always gold and it really brought something funny out in Ed. Always surprises me how much Jackie knows about the guests and always has some great questions. My favourite podcast by far!
I wish Howie was my neighbor. That's a good dude, man. Patient, honest, kind, excellent listener. Love that guy.
Well, his own son t-p'd his house back in the day!
The BEST guest to date, my Moms hero, so humble! The knowledge, way ahead of his time! Thank you for giving us the privilege and pleasure 😅
Ed, your John Lennon voice was perfect, subtle.!!
St. Elsewhere was my go-to back in the day....!!
I am so glad I found this interview!
I don't know if Ed will remember this or not but years ago, early 2000s, he was traveling cross country in his electric car and he came off Interstate 81 to Appletree Restaurant here in Marion, Virginia and I waited on him. When I saw him I said wow that guy looks like Ed Begley Jr ... and much to my surprise it was actually him 😆
... I remember he ordered coffee with honey!
@@BChandlerBaxter -
Were you a man or a woman then? Are you a man or a woman now? Was this in Marion, Virginia off I-81?
Fantastic interview! This man is great!
This was a amazing guest. I'm gonna look up more about him. I can listen to these stories for hours.😂❤
I love that Howie and Ed mentioned St. Elsewhere, which, to this day, remains my favourite television series of all times. They said they did a good job with that, and with huge respect, I would say “most definitely” to that, as did every regular and guest cast member. It was an extraordinary cultural event of the 20th century, nothing less.
In 1999, Ed’s website was one of the first (of not many) around, so I sent him a message. To his great credit he replied! Hotmail destroyed it 🤬
This is why this podcast is gonna blow up more. Howey stays true to himself and gets guests who play along. Shits fun
Really enjoyed this episode 😊
OMG!! Ed was at Spahn Ranch, smoked pot with Charles Manson, been to the Manson murder house and OJ's house!! Fascinating!
Ed was sun bathing on the grassy knoll with Elvis and nixon when shots rang out......... 😂
The thing I respect and wish more people understood today is that Ed Begly Jr. is the epitome of what an enviromentalist should be. Not scare, blame, shame and make millions of $$$, but the approach that yes, climate change is dangerous, let's put our minds together and create solutions. He doesn't beat the drum of "how dare you". Respect.
This was totally fascinating! Thanks so much.
I loved Ed in A Mighty Wind. Brilliant.
Might be my favorite episode this year. Thank you!
This was unexpected. Thanks Howie! Ed is the real deal
Didn't realize how much Owen Wilson looks like a young Ed Begley Jr. (Actually Matthew Modine as well.)
I remember the ST ELSEWHERE days & miss it! Loved that whole crew & cast❤
Ed speaking poetically about the victim's journey: "It's just so awful to think of that poor young woman starting life in her mother's loving arms and then ending up cruelly disposed of in a trash bin."
Jackie: LOL!!! Stop, my sides are splitting! Hahahahahaha!!!
Got Ed's book...it's excellent
One I rode the bus in LA and he was riding too. He’s the real deal, a great man!
Ed Begley is like my favorite Hollywood personality. He seems like someone you could have a nice conversation with for a few minutes, shake hands, and out.
EDIT: I am so sorry to hear that Ed is suffering from Parkinson's. He has Parkinson's and he DOES NOT deserve it.
Did Jackie not grow up in Hollywood? How does she not know who all these people are?
Looking forward to this one🎉❤
Cooling with ocean water is hard, no plumping exists, salt water eats up metal. But you can drill a hole into ground to cool houses.
Great show ! Enjoyed the stories
Outstanding interview! I remember Ed early on in his acting career on the TV series "Room 222" and enjoyed his more recent work on "Better Call Saul". My mom who passed last year, would always tell me during episodes of "St. Elsewhere" that Ed's dad was a famous actor whose work I also admired. Miss you Mom, be well Ed.
This was an awesome interview.!!
Another banger! Criminally underrated.
Thank you... glad you enjoyed it.
Black Sheep!!! I am about the same age and watched Mr. Begley's career from the jump. I remember him speaking on being a vegetarian decades ago, Pure California Hippie from back in the day.🥰
howie you are the best! the internet needs to be exposed to more of your amazing friends! and i want to watch st. elsewhere again now.
I had the pleasure of meeting Ed a few years ago at a local KCMO meet. He is a wonderful gentleman and made my son's year! My son had suggested that his friend get an electric gocart which would be better for the environment. I wrote to Ed about it and he sent my son an autographed picture. Then at the meet and greet, he RRlEMEMBEREd my son and his story, got up and took a pic with him!!! Ed, you are awesome!!
Ed Begley is like a blonde Bob Saget. He was just a TV nerd when I was growing up, but you end up seeing their real personality in interviews and they are surprisingly cool.
What a wonderfully entertaining and interesting episode. I grew up with Ed Begley, Jr. always on TV and in the movies as the consummate character actor! I had no idea how well-connected he was with all of those murderers and movie stars! Wow! Plus, his environmental foresight and dedication is very impressive.
Cant get enough inclusiveness.Thanks Norman
pretty gay. watching you. just sayin....
u see....that's comedy!
this one was a gem of an episode
Ed is so great, he travels to Portland Oregon frequently and often appears on AM Northwest with host Helen Raptis a local variety show, as a well loved guest. 😊
Great episode lol
I kept looking at this one for some reason I figured out when my brain finally started working. I know this kind looking man!
Thank god, I've had a terrible day.
Well, it's like the old phrase: where there's smoke, there's Ed Begley Jr. burning down a free standing structure.
Awesome interview just found your pod cast love it bye from Canada BC ❤
This is said a lot but Ed Begley Jr. really is a national treasure.
So interesting. What an amazing man
Ed Begley is the nicest grim reaper ever 😆
😂
No body is asking for your daughter, a matter of fact that is the best part of the show!
Ed Begley Jr. for President!
Excellent! Thank you.
Great conversation
Amazing guy Ed is and a real friend to the Earth. I was wondering where I was at in the video so I checked and was very surprised to see I was only 35min in. With the amount of interesting stories Ed had shared with Howie and Jackelyn by that point I felt as if one and a half hours had gone by, nope, just 35min…but in a good way.
Great interview,& I loved St Elsewhere, hugely popular here in the UK.
I really enjoyed this one. Ed was Forrest before Forrest. lol
A friend of mine who's no one famous (yet) is one of Ed's friends and says that he's one of the world's nicest people. He doesn't care who's famous. He just gets along well with folks. He finds a huge range of people interesting.
So much love for this man!!❤️❤️❤️🤗
Howie, it must be hard to do a podcast where you have to explain to your co-host and staff the famous people your guest is talking about. A little prep from you might help. Harry Nilsson was a song writing genius. "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" was a controversial & very funny Norman Lear show from the late 1970s. Dick Shawn was amazing. He was in Mel Brook's "The Producers." He played Hitler and sang "Springtime for Hitler" brilliantly. Btw, he is the son of Academy Award winner Ed Begley.
Why wasn't he given his father's name?
Can’t wait
Legit one of the most fascinating, inspiring, funny and just outright amazing interviews on any podcast of anyone famous I've ever seen or heard! What a fluffing legend! I'm going to have to watch this one again in case I missed anything!!❤ ❤❤❤
Ed’s memory is crazy accurate.
Oh my! Greatest show ever.
Ed had me laughing so hard while watching Better call Saul.
I'm not even half way through this vlog, and it's fascinating! Finished, amazing show, love Ed, love the show, love everyone on the show! Ed determining what day a particular date is reminded me of another potential guest that would be fascinating, Marilu Henner! Great vlog guys! 👍😎✌🗽
Love the pod 😍😀
I remember seeing Ed do the date trick several times on Letterman’s show.
So Great! ❤

MAD LOVE FROM Boston Eddie!
Ed Begley Jr!! Nobody ever does in depth with character actors like this! Hope you have William Atherton, Linda Hunt, John Glover, Jeffrey Jones, Wally Shawn!
good guest ty
WoW Great show loved it. it just gets better
Fire ep Ed is so insanely interesting
Ed is a really interesting person. Kudos for getting him.
Such an amazing guest 👏
I loved Ed in Meet the Applegates and she devil!!
Great Ed, you can hear his dad on a lot of Radio Plays still on youtube
I love this guys dry humor.
What a fascinating treasure Ed is!!
As a long time fan of St Elsewhere, when I saw these two together the first thing that popped into my head was, "Ehrlich, you’re a pig."
Love them.
Funny and interesting interview. Wow
always knew this guy was interesting but jesus, what a life.
I 💜 st elsewhere so much. It was one of the first American series on channel 4 in the UK when it started & I would watch it on my little black and white TV aged around 11 yes old. Love you both Ed & Howie, then and still. Thank you both for all the laughs
Ed and bill nye together are an awesome team. Love this man! Love the Howie team!
Mandel won't let guests finish a sentence...
I disagree with those who say that interviewers should not interrupt. We are watching Howie's show because we like Howie. Same with Pollak and Maher. They are not journalists:; they're entertainers. Enjoy the content.
No! /mad
