Just love it when someone builds anything Japanese. My absolute favorite plane is the Kawanishi flying boat ( Emily) damned hard but a great pleasure and looked awesome when I finally finished it.

Another great build. Your attention to the most minute detail is what makes your builds some of the finest there is on TH-cam.
    Thanks

A sport flyers dream craft. Gave everything for light weight offensive maneuvers. Very vulnerable to returning fire. A turning dog fight was its forte able to thrust vertical an bring another dimension to aerial combat. Two twenty mm cannon, two 7.7 mm machine gun. The later syncing with propeller.
Essentially a gun platform boiled down to its most minimal structure with the ability to carry extra fuel or relatively light bombs.

Very very nice work on a small scale Zero! Love it! The Model 22, I recently learned, was not the initial production version of the A6M-3 variant. (I have started to buy the Hasegawa 1/48 family which runs the whole gamut from the A6M-1 right through to the A6M-7..) The first A6M-3 was the Model 32 (Allied codename "Hamp" with the clipped, non-folding wingtips) But this - despite being faster than the A6M-2 with a greatly improved roll rate- was not popular at all with the pilots. The more powerful engine and clipped wings meant a great increase in fuel consumption and a reduced ceiling height (And there was no change to the Fuel capacity), which meant that the Model 32 was the Shortest ranged of ALL the Zeros, with almost a 2 hour endurance reduction! Complaints about this reached the Mitsubishi Factory very quickly and a decision was made to incorporate many of the changes proposed for the Next A6M-5 variant into the current A6M-3 with a new model number. This became the A6m-3 Model 22, which restored the folding wingtips and increased fuel Capacity with enlarged main and new secondary wing tanks. The Model number of 22 was chosen to deliberately associate this new variant with the A6M-2 Model 21, which was greatly liked by it's crews, and the Model 22 was also very popular, especially as it was the LONGEST ranged Zero Model of all! And, BTW it was far more common than the Model 32, only 400 odd Model 32's were built, but over a thousand Model 22s. (Info gained from the history section of the Haseqawa A6M-3 Model 22 kit's instruction booklet and confirmed by a little research into the Zero. Co-incidentally, this is also why Model 22 wrecks are often mistaken for A6M-5 Model 52 wrecks as many of the salient features are the same. You have to check the wreck's data plate (If it is present) against Mitsubishi and Nakajima records to find the production variant for that aircraft.

Very nice build. What was the gizmo you used to cut out the circular masks for painting the national insignia? Was it obtained commercially or did you you rig something up yourself? I've never found one that could trace out circles of such small circumference, have always had to use a piece of razor blade at the end of a string. And my fingers are so fat n' clumsy that it always ends up taking two or three tries before I get it right. It'd be nice to find something that's easier to use.

I have a question about pressure.
As I have watched, you use for paint(thinned in different ration) next rules:
    nozzle - 0.3mm, pressure - 15psi
    nozzle - 0.2mm, pressure - 20psi
    and for clear coats:
    nozzle - 0.3mm, pressure - 20psi
    Am I right?
And what pressure will be good enough for 0.4mm? 10ps? Maybe you can recomend some table or curve?
Do you use another pressure depending on paint to thinner ratio?

The colour of the Early Zeros was not white- it was a pale whitish-yellow grey, than often developed a somewhat light caramel tone from the Polishing and varnish applied to gain a couple of extra knots of Airspeed.

I have one question : very often you use cement on areas which are already colored. Is it not necessary to remove the paint for good results ? Or do you use a special cement ? Well, I paint my models with enamel colours and i have to remove the Paint where Parts have to be placed to get a strong bond. Is that not necessary when using acrylic colours ?
