    That short continuum of fiction and the distinction between scifi and speculative fiction was the clearest explanation I've heard.

    It kind of is funny, Canada has been much closer to handmaid's tale then the US all throughout this C charade we have experienced.

    What about lands where people no longer read books to learn about the shadowy places of politics and other industries? In those lands where people no longer read, what pass for knowledge is something available through media and the effects of such interactions through social media and other crude forms, are not surely healthy. That's why books are important. The countries where people read have hope in some manner.
