      Hey, I see you everywhere in the Mr. Robot community! Nice to see ya again :) I agree, I feel like Mr. Robot could have easily had a fifth season, as the fourth season felt rushed in areas. Part of me feels like Esmail had the whole story planned from the start though!

      For me it was about to be a completely different thing, until the very end revealed that it had been about the same thing after all, which is genius.
      They made me think that it was about to go full on sci-fi with parallel dimensions and stuff, when in fact, it remained consistent with what it was about and stayed the course.
      Hell even Season 1 episode 4 had Fake-world Angela telling Mastermind "You're not Elliot". So good.

    The show is so methodical with its cinematography, editing and overall world-building. I love the unpredictability of every episode. Almost every character steals the spotlight.

    • @1234567895182
      @1234567895182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it was pretty predictable if you ask me. You can expect some mental breakdown in every episode. Also the fact that you know Elliot isn't going to die or face any serious consequence so theres not much tension at all.

    • @DaeEss1Drea

      There are several twists that I didn’t see coming. Not predictable at all!

    • @1234567895182
      @1234567895182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DaeEss1Drea probably because you didn't pay attention. Elliot's mental issues were obviously caused by something traumatic. The key part is using the little pieces they give to guess what's coming. Also you can tell near the end of the series that white rose is insane and her machine most likely won't work especially when you know the direction sam was taking this show (not sci fi). I think the only twist that got me was I didn't realize elliot was in prison that whole time after he got arrested. But even then I wasn't mind blown. I had known he got arrested already. It was more like "oh so this is his coping mechanism....cool I guess?". There was nothing really significant in hiding the fact he was in prison. Any more twists????

      @mrscenes5323 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1234567895182 i actually thought the prison twist was the most predictable and the other ones were pretty unexpected, at least to me. It just different points of view. If the twist serves a purpose to the story and is done well, i don’t see a problem with it. And obviously like almost every show, you know the protagonist it’s not gonna die, but it’s not like Elliot it’s put into danger every 5 minutes and it’s not like other characters don’t die. The ending stayed coherent and Whiterose’s machine didn’t work, it’s that supposed to be a problem? Most of the criticisms you’re giving are not actually bad things IMO

    i remember watching the pilot episode and feeling almost instantly drawn to the Elliott character (the pilot episode was released a short while before the series began and I remember impatiently waiting for the series). The opening scene just draws the viewer in at record pace and there's something about Elliot. I'm not sure how much of that was/is the charisma of Remi Malek or what? I'd be willing to bet that Mr. Robot draws you into the main character/Elliot faster than any series has ever done before to the degree that it does (at the very least it did for me).

    4 seasons was the right decision. It makes the series more accessible to those who want a bingeable show without a decade of commitment. Within the context of the story, it makes sense, too.
    With that said, nothing would bring me more joy than to see a sequel or spinoff series. Mr. Robot is an absolute masterpiece. Of course, if the characters no longer live in your mind, it is still a beautiful and bittersweet ending.

      A prequel spin off revolving around Whiterose and the deus group, e corps previous ceo, and Phillip prices rise would be perfect. Set it in early 90s. Esmail could do so much and explore some different themes while retaining mr robots to an extent;even expanding on mr robots.

    One of the many things I particularly enjoyed about Mr. Robot is... I'm the same age as Sam Esmail, which the generation/time period we grew up in can be seen and heard throughout the series. It's a niche' generation that isn't typically represented when movies do call backs to earlier time periods. We were too young to fall into the weird commonly referenced 80's crap. We experienced the inception of video games and computer technology and rode that wave. This show plays music from various movies during this time period as well, which many of the winks came in the form of music from movies during those years... obviously Back to the Future, but there's Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure, Repo Man, etc)... those earlier computer games... you're in a dark room... what do you do? Use key on door, etc. At times the show almost felt as though it was taking place during the late 80's/early 90's except with modern day technology. Elliot's birth year is 1986, however, his experiences/growth is clearly based on someone born 10 years sooner, which is the time period Sam was born in. Obviously he had to age Elliot down, as it makes a lot more sense to have your vigilante hacker being in his late 20's as opposed to his late 30's, but Elliot's experience is shaped from someone born around 1976/77.

    Twin Peaks: The Return & Mr. Robot are the 2 most visionary and immersive television shows ever made - (I separate The Return from the OG Twin Peaks series because The Return is infinitely more bold and cinematic, completely divorced from the traditional TV format)

    Yeah, block shooting while show-running, directing, and writing must be pretty disorienting and overwhelming.
    What a ridiculous coincidence. We recognize that we as a society have been gradually lacking more real human connection and we have turned to social media as a substitute, and this pandemic comes along and forces us to communicate virtually with each other all the time has really blown that idea out of proportion. I feel that it has really accelerated that process. That timing is crazy.
    Thinking about the budget definitely does poison the writer’s room. I totally agree.

    The second season tends to get better on a rewatch, particularly when it comes to Elliot and the twist (it would be difficult to rank the seasons as I like them all about the same and the show feels continuous as opposed to the seasons standing on their own) . I think it's much more enjoyable knowing the Elliot jail twist as opposed to being in the dark about it, which makes the second season more enjoyable. When you watch it the first time around, something just feels a bit off... like what in the hell is Elliott doing and we start off the season spending a lot of time with Angela and Darlene, which works so much better when we know why we are. Even though I haven't worked it out yet if we are observing parallel versions of certain characters during earlier time frames, but I digress.
