I'm incredibly late to this video lol but I just want to say that I appreciate that this tutorial is targeting towards a younger, newer-to-budgeting audience! I wish I had this when I first started budgeting!
I track my finances in a separate notebook! In the front, I monitor what is coming in and going out of my main (spending) account. To do this, I have 5 columns: date, +/-, amount, details (what I bought/where the money came from) and balance (how much is in my spending account). In the back, I track my savings with the same 5 columns. By writing everything down, I am held accountable for every cent that comes in and goes out of my accounts and I am less willing to spend money on unnecessary thing because when I open my notebook, the purchase will be there staring me in the face.
They do in the US, but most kids don't pay attention or skip so much they don't comprehend what's being taught. You can't learn math literacy when you're missing 60-100+ days of school and that's what has been happening in growing numbers over the last two decades. It's why we have illiterate high school graduates because district policies don't let teachers refuse to pass a student in elementary and middle school years and then by high school the kids either have zero sense of hope or are completely apathetic. I don't blame them when the system has told them that grades don't actually matter, but the number of kids who complain about not getting certain information, like simplistic budgeting like this video, is frustrating. It's in those classes you students either skipped or found a way to not take in high school.

I can say with absolute confidence that I payed attention in school, and I was never taught anything like this. Unfortunately, curriculums have shifted to focus more on testing, so practical knowledge like this (and basic home ec) is left untaught. I highly commend anyone my age or younger looking for videos like this, because I know that, for the most part, they are having to teach this stuff to themselves.
