Here’s the thing. His guns were confiscated because he was considered a threat. However, he was still at liberty and had access to his knives, chisels, screwdrivers etc. If he was really a threat that threat was ongoing. In reality, this just another example of the anti-gun paranoia in the UK.

He was "lucky" to get his license/certificate revoked, rather than the usual tactic of seizure and a protracted "suitability review". Section 44 of the The Firearms Act (1968) gives a clear right to appeal, but if they don't have grounds for revocation, then the "suitability review" which isn't covered in law, so doesn't give you the right to appeal, which means that they can use these ultra vires powers to withhold your guns until such time they choose to return them, or have grounds to revoke (so you can then appeal). I'm aware of at least one case where a false accusation against the owner, meant they were without their guns for 2 years, due to this "suitability review". Scandalous.

If what he says is true then the police acted in a reprehensible manner, they sided with an aggressor and used their power to victimise and bully a crime victim. And it should not need saying that police should aid victims not criminals.
At least the police will pay some costs for this, but it should have been 100% + a sum for the threats, stress and deprivation of his property.
An sincere apology should be routine in this situation, I notice there's no mention of that. At the very least a public acknowledgment by the police that the way they acted was wrong, morally wrong. Again I hear no mention of that.

How sad that the shooting community, which is full of law abiding and extremely honest people, are too scared to be civic. The world needs good men and women who will stand up for each other and will report crime. It sounds like hundreds of thousands of good men and women are gagged by their own firearms.
Did they remove all kitchen knives from our victim as well? Obviously not. This isn't about safety and people need to stop being so nice about the police overreach. I assume as a firearms owner you can't be angry about anything ever, certainly not publicly.

    Nanny State UK.
You get assaulted and somehow you can become the perpetrator, even if you don't retaliate, if you retaliate you become the perpetrator and get charged with using unreasonable force.
If you own guns you are deemed guilty on all points.
If you have been burgled the police don't come, unless you have guns still in their safe then they will be there in 2 minutes and confiscate them.
If you call to say you have killed the burglar in self defence with a gun, knife or baseball bat you will be dragged away.
Don't even own a water pistol in the UK or you might be deemed a potential Post Office robber....no point as any cash there has been stolen already by the Horizon software system and taken as bonuses for POL executives.

With respect, my friend, I'm fifty-three years old. The Police are nothing like what they used to be, what they ought to be, and what they should be in my humble opinion.
Anyone of my generation was scared of the Police as children, for fear of being naughty and your parents finding out.
When you went out of your front door, you made darn sure you looked respectable and acted in a proper appropriate manner as you were an extension of your respectable family and through you, that would continue.
We had respect for our elders, speaking to them in a respectable manner. That's all mainly gone now.
Government after government promised the earth with our Police service and delivered nothing. It isn't the Polices's fault, it's the people who organise our Police Force that's the problem.
The job of our Police Force now is colossal and impossible in terms of their numbers and what they're expected to do. That's no accident, that's all planned and intentional.
I've no doubt the main political parties will be promising to increase their numbers should they crawl into power. They just want your vote so they can arrange their own pay rises as our working class community is approaching being broken.
I think it's a great idea to vote for somebody who'll do what they say they'll do. That said, I won't be voting, and I won't be involved in any of it. I'm disgusted with the whole lot of it. It's all gone to the dogs, finished!

The first part of the video with Chris is chilling, but not surprising.
I am 56 next month. I have held a sec 2 cert continuously since my early 20's. I have also held a sec 1 for a number of years between then and now.
I also retired as a police officer last July after near on 26 years service.
I retired from Cambridgeshire Constabulary. They, and Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, have collaborated a number of functions between them, including firearms licencing.
My last posting was in the FCR of Hinchingbrooke park. The protocol is (and I imagine it is national) if the police are called to an "incident", and ANY party are a firearms/shotgun licence holder, then it is incumbent on O1 (control room inspector) to ensure that the certificate and all firearms are seized and removed by the police. That's ANY party, as per Chris in this video.

Regarding UK gun law, I like the strict rules & general high regulations, it makes me appreciate what I am entrusted to posses and ensures I use it responsibly. But these increasingly frequent unjustified gun grabs seems to be a result of poor funding and running of the firearms licensing department.
I for one would happily pay more for my FAC if:
A - Firearms licensing is setup independently from the police
B - I was able to deal with more professional and knowledgeable firearms officers
C - The license came as a passport-like booklet instead of multiple folded up sheets of A4 paper
D - Requests were processed in a timely manner
F - Only firearm licensed/trained police are able to deal with firearm related issues

It is LONG OVERDUE for the shooting organisations to start acting in a far stronger manner towards police abuses of the law. We know that they have an anti-firearms agenda; stop aiding them by being so weak and mealy-mouther about it. Praising the police? Get real. They are there to remove firearms from the public at all costs and whenever possible. As for "destroying" the shotguns; again, get real, those would have found their way into the hands of the police or been auctioned off. They only destroy historically-significant museum pieces - yes, it has been attempted before.

Right here is why we, on the other side of the pond, detached ourselves from GB. You have an inherent right to self defense, if your government removes that from you, you need to throw off the shackles of oppression and take back your country. I suggest you start by reading the Declaration of Independence.

@@markhammond9453 Actually, it is. Overreaching government that was taking away rights of the people. The Revolutionary War started when the British came to take away the guns and ammunition munition and were confronted at Lexington and Concord.

@@markhammond9453 As for our gun culture, I’ll side with Thomas Jefferson who preferred dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. I’d rather be a citizen than a serf.

I wondered if an American would hijack the comments. Perhaps if the gun nuts in the USA stopped misinterpreting the 2A, or better still, moved on from the times of homesteads and black powder rifles they wouldn’t have school kids being slaughtered every other week.

So you were attacked, someone else lied and you had money stolen, what part of that is in the slightest reasonable.
Can you sue the other individual for losses and deformation?
