Weapon handling, dexterity, and adapting to unexpected situations are all benefits of trick training. It's helped my core techniques way more than I ever thought it could. You have some excellent talent! Keep it up

I used to train tricks with weapons just for fun. I wasn't even a martial artist. Never was. But I ended up working as a stuntman, bartender and circus artist.

    Thanks for the video.
To be honest, I don't do any real tricks. I've tried to do a few wrist rolls, but I'm not good at them. I can't incorporate them into a whole "bo flow" routine. I like to do my bo spins with a four-pound staff. I like the heavier staff because I've broken a thinner, lighter staff against a heavy bag. I also like the strength value that I get from doing my spin practice with a heavier staff. With the heavy staff, I just break my wrists when I hit improperly.
Another reason for doing tricks is that they are good for brain elasticity. (I think the term professionals use is "brain plasticity," but "elasticity" makes more sense to me.) Because of my health issues, I see a therapist. She's encouraged me to do a few escrima moves that would go from using my right hand to my left hand. Apparently, those moves force one to switch from the left side of the brain to the right and back. Keeping those pathways across the brain active is good for mental and emotional health. Learning and practicing those moves throughout one's life could help to stave off dementia in old age.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and top commenter. Proper training, then play, grows to understanding and prophiciency. I loved the video and flow, Sir.

A reason for me personally could also be as reference for videogame animation.
I started shadowboxing and threw in a bit of muay thai just so i can "feel" what the animation should look and feel like.
Though i guess thats the same as being a stuntman/movie actor in a way. also its just crazy fun haha

This is interesting: were you a dancer, initially? I train HEMA and I find this interesting.

Nope. 2 of my siblings were. But I was never a dancer.
