    I live at the Sunshine coast. Hand feeding birds is common in Australia. I feed the local kookaburras. Magpies and butcher birds. I also have about a dozen wild kangaroos that will eat out of your hand. The big ugly black birds are bush turkeys. Most people hate them as they destroy gardens. If you want to see possums. Just walk around suburban streets just after dusk and look up. The possums use the power lines as a hiway to travel around from people's ceiling spaces to other trees and places. Most Australian rarely see koalas as when we walk around the bush we are usually looking at the ground for Joe Blake's. Snakes.

    Tip, if you come to Melbourne take a coat and umbrella everywhere if it's not summer as we change weather multiple times a day.
    You'll wake up and it's sunny leave house and 30 minutes later will piss down until you get where your going.

    Great introduction Dar, we love you guys too! They are doing mostly local homestays and are probably sponsored, so your situation is harder! If you could find a sponsored job here it would be much easier! We have so many fresh tropical fruits (and birds)! 😋 I'm sure many locals would show you around! 👍

    Hot crossed buns are sweet buns cooked with dried in a group of six with score marks so you can divide them up. They have crosses on the top made of I don’t know because I find them disgusting, but I’m in the minority of Aussies. They’re an Easter thing.

      It's considered rude to wear a hat/cap inside (shopping centres are ok) - definitely not done in a restaurant or club.

    In RSLs (Returned Services League clubs), Surf life saving clubs, local sporting clubs and just generally, specifically in a restaurant setting, it's impolite to wear a hat inside, you wear a hat/cap in Australia to keep the sun off your head, not to look cool, so take it off inside yeah!! Just advice when you visit buddy.

    The USD is strong against the AUD which is one good thing hmmm I'm Aussie born and bred and id never recommend coming here. It's not the country it used to be. It was once so beautiful but it's a rat race here and it's so expensive I can't afford to move. I suppose for a couple of weeks it would be nice and it's a safe country with the best food and nice scenery. Okay it's good to visit but not to live here. Australia welcomes you though and it would be so awesome if you do a public meet up for all your followers....all of us that love your channel and get something signed by you.

      I'm originally from the USA and currently live in Australia. I moved here back in 2013 and the prices of everything has skyrocketed and it is ridiculous just going to get groceries now. Before it was pretty even with America when I first arrived. But I've spoken to my mom a bunch of times about the cost of food and living and it's a pretty sad state of affairs in the US as well.

    • @MsDearne
      @MsDearne 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@l2andom The good thing about America is at least there are cheap houses to be found. There is a chance to get ahead in life there and there is so much more variety and nicer things in the shops and I have a feeling come November things will get better there but here even our nice weather is gone. It's the worst government in history.....Albo is absolutely scum. They are trying to stress us in to having a heart attack or worse. We cop it in every direction here.

    • @l2andom
      @l2andom 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MsDearne Nah, I have siblings trying to buy houses currently and around 2015 I looked at buying a house back in the US until we decided to stay here. I've looked again and it isn't quite as bad as Australia but it's still bad. The cheaper homes are usually in parts of the country people don't really want to live in or the area isn't very nice, I've been looking just to look still because my siblings are trying to buy. Anything semi decent is expensive. Rent is especially bad just like it is here. You still have to factor in currency conversion and actual wage difference in America. I agree though that there is much more variety and things in the shops and I definitely miss that. I hope things turn for the better in the US but I think it's a worldwide issue with large corporations having a chokehold on everything and having their influence over all politicians that 'run' the country.
