Lois Nettleton, the star of tonight's story, was heard on 7 episodes of CBS Radio Mystery Theater. Lois had appeared on dozens of TV shows. She played Chief Gillespie's girlfriend on the TV show, In the Heat of the Night. Lois Nettleton died of lung cancer in 2008 at age 80.

05-31-24 Last day of the month, time seems to be flying by! Listening from Southern Ontario, Canada, 43* N. Today was a little warmer, 80*, but a beautiful lovely breeze all day ! The whole garden is finally in and shooting up ! The potatoes are growing quickly, too. Red onions, green onions, garlic ( for bases for lots of dishes and pasta sauces), carrots (cooked, drained , then coated with a small spoonful or so of dark brown sugar in the saucepan - no need for butter), “Tiny Tim” tomatoes ( to nibble on), regular size San Marzano tomatoes (for canning for passata), romaine lettuce( with Tiny Tim tomatoes for Cobb salads), garlic chives ( for oven roasted peeled russet potato chunks with garlic, onion powder and olive oil), rosemary ( for whole roasted chicken with lemon), oregano & basil ( for homemade pizzas), sage ( for chicken dumplings), and parsley for just about everything else ! It’s only all the gardening and yard work that keeps me thin ! Supposed to be able to see the northern lights again tonight - we’ll see. Hope everyone sleeps well and slumbers peacefully tonight ! I know I will ! Grateful, as always, for our bedtime stories ! I imagine that as hot as Death Valley has always been known for, I bet it is hotter now. 🙏❤🫠 My son wanted to see “out west” badly, and he and his best friend took his old car, in the late ‘80’s, and drove from here in Ontario all the way to Death Valley. After not hearing from him until he was past due a few days, I received a post card from him saying “ finally got here and the engine fixed after it blew up.” 😳🫢 (I admit I was worried ! But he had a good head on his shoulders and took care of everything).
@@DonHeiland I've always wanted to drive to Death Valley but I do worry about no cell reception out there, in case of an extreme emergency, like overheating! It's only about 2-hrs away🔥🔥
@@candydale8380 , You live near Death Valley? No wonder it is so hot there! Only the hottest spot in the United States! That is a desert there! Wow! Covers a big region. Have you experienced a 130 degree temperature yet?
@@DonHeiland Well I live in Sunset Beach near the ocean but Southern Californua is a desert!! The worst/most dangerous heat was in 2014 when we had 100%humidity & 100-degree temps, at the beach it was baaaad
