With Barbie in YEARS, starting looking up the characters again, I saw Chelsea and I was just like “Who in the world are you? Where’s Kelly?”

Chelsea is like a SPOILED little brat! she want puppies this, puppies that.. ugh... compared to Kelly, Kelly is sweet little toddler.
I collect Kelly dolls and I miss that quality and their adorable little faces. When I was little I loved seeing them on the shelves of toy stores, all together, so cute. Personally, I don't find Chelsea that charming. I like that they are including more diverse dolls, like those new ones in a wheelchair and I don't mind the change in age so much, but the quality is much worse, there is no doubt. A pity! 😔
Yes 💯 so sad that quality had to go downhill like this! Kelly was just way too cute and the Playsets were so much better quality too! Kelly is so much fun to collect 💗💗

My 8-year-old cousin just discovered Kelly dolls and LOVES them. She figured out there was a Kelly/Chelsea connection on her own but wondered why they did that. She, too, prefers Kelly even though they stopped making Kelly before she was even born!

Thank u clearing up the mystery of why Kelly dolls disappeared. Its tragic she is no longer in production 😢. I collect vintage kelly dolls and her friends. I do not buy Chelsea dolls because I dislike the look of the dolls . I agree with u and Kelly will always be Barbies baby sister! 💕

Thank you for this video!! My mother has always been a *HUGE* collector. She has over 300 Barbies in the box. Lately, she started getting into these TH-cam videos about diy Barbie rooms/scenes. My mother is 80 and idk how long I’ll have with her so I decided to embark on this journey with her (I’ve also always loved Barbie but not a collector). I went online like “who tf is CHELSEA!!” She’s too grown looking to me. I was a little girl when Kelly came out but I STILL remember that baby powder scent!! I LOVED my Kelly. I’m hoping mama still has her. I also miss Todd!!! Take me back to my 90s childhood!!!!
Yes the 90s was such a time to be a kid! WOW 300 barbies is an amazing collection! Kelly is now my favourite thing to collect. They’re just so damn cute!!

No,Chelsea hasen't replaced Kelly,she is still made, but not with hair! You can look at the littlest dolls made by Mattel ,,they are selled with Skipper and with nursery accessories.
I’ve been around for not even 2 years when Kelly was still a thing… I’ve basically grown up with Chelsea and seeing these videos of Kelly and her old ads make me sad that I was barely around for it :( - but at the same time I’m happy I am around for Chelsea. I just wish Mattel would have more of Skipper and Stacie when it comes to movies and play sets. I think all sisters should be loved by all equally, even the ones that are no longer with us anymore, including their brother Todd. I’m not a big Barbie Collector but I’m somewhat of a Barbie Collector. I have one Vintage Kelly set and one expensive Barbie Life In The Dreamhouse set. Whenever I’m playing with my dolls I use all of them bc I will alway appreciate her siblings even if I was mar or barely around for them
I love this comment because you make such a good point - all dolls have their value for different reasons, the new barbies have much more inclusivity which is great and the old ones have their cute Playsets. Let’s just love all dolls equally 💕🙏🏼❤️

I agree, though I have always been partial to Skipper. They need to make fashion packs for the sisters like they do Barbie. That is part of the problem. I think they would sell better of they also had extra clothing you can buy for them, like they did in the 90s.

It has been a long time I've ever looked at Barbie in the later years because I got into Monster High at the time and I didn't even notice that Kelly got replaced by Chelsea if I ever recall being in the Barbie section in the toy aisle at Target or Walmart where would've had a bunch of Chelsea dolls and I would've been like "Who's Chelsea?" I strongly believe that Chelsea has to be Kelly because it's not like she died and Chelsea was adopted which would be too dark for Barbie and as much as I liked Kelly, I can get used to Chelsea who's still cute although it feels that they should've kept small which the rest of the characters don't look they aged. It's almost like from back in time where Skipper looked like a 12 year old if I'm not mistaken than 13 due to Growing Up Skipper which got to be controversial than a 14-15 year old plus she became a Burnett instead of blonde like they don't want her to look like a Barbie clone. It in a way effect everything else in Barbie's world like Tommy apparently doesn't exist anymore but however there's Darren and I don't know if he's Ken's little brother now, that's never mentioned and because there's now Club Chelsea as replacement for Kelly Club, we'll see Chelsea having much friends as Kelly even if they're exactly the same ones plus bring back Skipper's and Stacie's friends as well. There was also another baby sister, Krissy and even she no longer exists, we don't even see in any of the CG Barbie movies involving all of her sisters. No one ever mentioned Kelly/Chelsea nor any of the other characters in the live action movie, I was actually more disappointed about what they did with Ken from there because he was feeling like he has been in Barbie's shadow over the years like being the love interest doesn't make him special despite I've seen I Can Be Ken dolls than unfortunately for Ryan Gosling Ken, Margot Robbie Barbie doesn't have the feeling for him anymore and doesn't want to continue her life as a doll and be her own person. America Farrah's character, Gloria did tell the Mattel executives that they should make Ordinary Barbie who can simply be anything at all which could be a possibility that Barbie can be Ryan Gosling Ken's new Barbie to move on than it'll be a happy ending for him. Maybe there could be a sequel with Ordinary Barbie also played by Margot Robbie being convinced to go to the real world which Ryan Gosling Ken tells her that was where he lost his previous Barbie than long the way, that's where she meets the og Margot Robbie Barbie whom became Barbra Handler who'll tell her "I used to be you." I always shipped Barbie x Ken and that's why the live action movie made me sad like the Cali Girl era all over which I'm pretty sure it's can't be canon anyway.

Now I can't decide if the Barbie movie sequel should be Kelly and the other child dolls suddenly appearing in Barbie land and seeing the Barbies, the Kens, Midge and Alan suddenly deal with parenthood (cliched I know but could still work when everyone is a doll),
or
if it should be the child dolls feeling abandoned and forgotten and frustrated because they can't grow or change mentally or physically and then form an alliance with the baby dolls to take over Barbieland.
I can imagine the Barbies and Kens just dropping them all off at a day care centre and just forgetting about them.
