love yourself isn't a concept, it never was. it's a message BTS has always wanted to give through their music and they did, they did and they still do not only through their music but in every chance they get. THEY are the ones who ACTUALLY understand the importance of self love, who genuinely want people to accept themselves and love themselves. BTS will always be the ones to genuinely convey this message to me....
@@eternityj it was a message that spanned three albums. What do you think a concept is? It's what the albums, music videos, campaigns were built around. I know using concept seem like something weird since everyone's using concepts and may not use it as BTS had or with such intentions as they had. Yet, it still was a concept.
@@RasendoriXProduction they're not denying that it was made into a specific concept, but just that BTS has consistently spread that message even before and after the promotion of that album series. BTS always emphasize it, but other groups cheapen that message by making it a marketing ploy and it's superficial when they talk about it.
@@minitwink16 I think you are seeing this from a shallow perspective. Let me give you some background. BTS music first and foremost are written about the members themselves. Literally all of BTSs music catalogue is about BTS. From the skool trilogy to BE. That's why btss music is said to be more of a message than just concepts. A concept in kpop is when you apply a theme or topic and make it central. Which means the music+visuals+makeup+choreography+production all revolve around this concept. Like enhypen and the vampire concept. They sing about blood, the production is dark, their makeup is dark, they have to look like vampires etc. BTS isn't doing that. Their 'concepts' only exist because bts members write about certain things in songs. When they were in school they wrote about school, when they were youth, they wrote about youth and its problems, when they were in 20s they wrote about themselves and self love, when they started late 20s they explored psychology and self care.... its all about themselves. So the idea of the message of loving yourself came from RM chanting 'i wish I could love myself' 8 times at the end of the song reflection from the album wings. It was more of a personal wish. You can't call that a concept. It was something he wanted for himself. That's where the entire love Yourself trilogy started. It's a journey to love Yourself, but instead of one song or a just one lyric saying it(like kpop groups are doing), What bts did was create an entire journey where they themselves explored the idea using a 3 part story structure, a beginning a middle and an end. Her tear and answer. So it started with namjoon actually wishing he loved himself and then just thinking about it through the course of 2 years of the journey. It was more about his personal growth. And as the primary songwriter, he was basically writing about whatever he found on the subject. You can't call this a concept cus it doesn't just begin and end anywhere... THEY WERE LIVING IT. They still are. You can call it a story, or a journey, or exploration. EDIT I want to add more about them actually LIVING THE MESSAGE. When the Second part of Love Yourself, The Tear album came out, bts were very very close to disbanding. They members were struggling mentally, jungkook shut himself off, jimin did a vlog talking about how depressed all the members were due to the intense fame. BASICALLY they were living whatever they were talking about in the album Tear. You can see it in their songs in tear. They were wearing a mask, telling others they were OK, but struggling internally... just like the lyrics of tear album, specially fake love and singularity. The talked about their feelings specially in outro tear. When outro tear came out everyone thought it was just a 'Concept'. Comments like "Oh who hurt them, why are they so mad in this song, damn did they even have girlfriends or relationships?" Imagine the shock people felt when they revealed the song was a message to the members of bts. They weren't doing a concept of a breakup. They were scared of an actual breakup. It was just that the relationship here was between the members and not a girlfriend or partner. So they were living the lyrics of this era. When Answer came out bts was basically saying.... we aren't in pain anymore. We are going to keep going an developing as people.
Actually, if you think about it, BTS never did concepts (album-wise). They wrote stories. They wrote their experiences like when they were still in school they did the school trilogy. They focused on being the youth when they were reaching adulthood.
It sucks that people get hate for pointing these things out. Other K-pop artists are great and have done amazing things, but that doesn’t change the fact that BTS PAVED THE WAY.
@@DetektivConan1000 you mean, those flop old footsteps that small company and small artist like BTS cannot walk on? think again oldies, that old path is already closed to BTS since long time ago thats why BTS created a new path which was the path leading groups now, remember when people used to think Daesang is the highest? but now groups think that Grammy is the highest, its the same thing happen to BTS, cause the old ways in Korea is too densed and only for the big company to walk on
the person that came up with the idea of creating bt21 is a genius. some armys might be embarrased to have a jimin keychain hanging but a chimchim one is cute and armys can still recognize each other
Rm's solo debute "do you" was about self love & ignoring people's negativity I remember seeing it before bts was that big & admiring how a kpop artist dared to to push an unpopular message through his art Bts started as a rebellious group ended up the trend makers
So true. I was particularly impressed when he rapped abt how it was not only okay to choose go against the norm to be yourself but also how it was okay to follow norms and trends as long as you're being yourself.
@@AlexaOleksa 🤣 second chapter really? Did any group already try to copy, dear. I just saw bp mv shut down is consist some of ther old mv like in BTS YTC, but second chapter?
@yiamitanit’s not about whoever did it first, BTS popularised it and made it a TREND just like all these other things. So many grps are following their example in the hopes that they will get the same success
@@silviaj4965 I'm sorry, but I have to ask... How many groups, and I'm not just talking about Kpop groups, but also other foreign bands/groups, actually "have" individuality in their music or when planning their music or album. From what I've seen in many groups aside BTS, they might have a song for each member in an album, but the songs never really identify with the member's personal story or message unlike BTS members with each song a member does being able to represent them on a deeper and more personal level, like Epiphany, Singularity, Moon and others.

The use of love Yourself as a concept makes me so angry... Cus it was such a strong personal message that bts tried to give to their fans and apply to themselves. Namjoon was in tears during the last love Yourself concert talking about how he is learning to accept himself for who he truly is, day by day. It was a sincere thing that bangtan explored... And now these kpop group are using it as some sort of fad... It's really upsetting.
Whereas I mostly agree I think the fact that the message itself is getting put out there by so many is the most important part of this. If it helps anyone it helps if you know what I mean.
cracked up at all the "i love myself" kpop lyrics. 99.9% of those lines are not written by the people singing them, therefore to me are fake as hell because how do you make someone else write you a self-love song and expect me to treat your message seriously😭 that's the biggest issue i have with my main example, itzy, who is the prime example of, as you said in the video, sticking to "love myself" as a concept, only to now completely switch up and move away from it to typical kpop music... about shoes. what type of progression is that😭
Agree but the chunga song isn’t , she wrote is , the song it’s called “ chica “ ( girl in Spanish ) , and you can tell it’s about herself , I’m not a “big fan of her “ but I truly enjoy that song ( maybe cuz you can tell the influence of shakira old songs ). But sadly that wasn’t a title track or a big song from her , that’s why I think it’s hard for those artists to actually show their “truly self “ since they are limited by their labels a lot when it comes to that. Labels and artists need to understand that what BTS do it’s to came with the message that they want to give cuz they feel like it cuz of the context they are dealing or deal in that moment and then came with the whole inspirations and concepts , etc, it seems that recently the only group that understood that it’s gidle now. And that’s the GOOD BTS influence that it should be follow , I hope the groups and their labels realize of it. And with that those group will get recognize as true genuine artists in the industry and not just groups that follow something so superficial , etc.
Tbh BTS raised the bar so damn high that now kpop groups aim for billboard charts without even having any strong charts in Korea.. BTS broke into the US, step by step but other kpop acts want everything in a day.. They call BTS chart obsessed and western validation seekers but may I remember you how two groups have done all they could do to reach no. 1 bb200 album chart including paying influencers, lowering the price to the lowest extent and what not.. even tweeted that buy from this store so that it counts towards bb200 lmao.. but still sold less than 100K pure even after having 10+ versions, guess who's seeking Western validation😭
i think In The Soop also started a trend of more laid back reality shows for kpop groups. not the actual Weverse/HYBE official ones, although with the success of BTS' first season they saw an opportunity to try with other HYBE groups, but i've seen groups of other agencies doing same concept as In The Soop
yeah i think most variety shows that aren't under 3rd parties like mnet or other broadcasting networks. since bts were often looked down on these programs they just made their own. i think 'in the soop', 'run bts' and 'bon voyage' were what started this shows from these companies to show this "raw" image and coversations (very eerie though)
After BTS wasn't invited to Korean shows They started their own like Run BTS. And after that whole kpop started these Group's own show! And now it's like Mandatory for all! 🙂
Twice admitting bts paved the way will forever be iconic. I wish for good things for them going forward. They have steadily been getting popular in us with their tour. Hope it continues.
Exactly. Like... you rarely see armys talk shit about Twice on or offline because not only did Twice publicly acknowledge that BTS paved the way, Twice has also organically grown their popularity with no unethical means, unlike Blackpink. ALSO if you've noticed: Twice is also the ONLY group who has ALWAYS PUBLICLY SHOWN SUPPORT FOR BTS AT KOREAN AWARD SHOWS BY ENTHUSIASTICALLY CLAPPING FOR THEM WHENEVER BTS WIN SOMETHING/PERFORM ONSTAGE, meanwhile all the other groups remain stoic like statues in their seats. You can really see the stark difference and it's so jarring.
Fr, unlike the one group that proudly agree when an interviewer tell them that they paved the way for kpop and literally explain what they did as if they really the one who paved the way for KPOP 💀, its literally annoying to watch when I saw that clip on twitter.
@@fuckityfuckish Plus now they FINALLY GOT Billboard Women Music Award 😌😌 I am so happy for them. Also, in my opinion they are very hard working as well as artistic people, even their company is not giving them the freedom BTS has, but at least, they seem passionate about music, even Momo, whose main strength is dancing is always passionate about her work. Also it is very adorable to see both the groups having mutual respect towards each other, tho now we don't see them interacting that much.
@@jazzy4164 And it's exactly for this reason that Twice & Stray kids are my other 2 favorite groups, and the only other groups I occasionally watch behind the scenes content from.
and you know what, whenever you try to point out these things, you are called toxic. they only come up with things like "BTS don't own a concept" or "these have been happening before their debut". the things is, armys never credit BTS for something they haven't created, but they at least accept the fact that they're the ones who popularised it. people really like REALLY love to discredit BTS. who is gonna tell them that all those reality shows they watch of their faves exist because of BTS. when you give them a reality check, they refuse to accept it and call you toxic. if it was other group in place of BTS, it would've been okay for them. like nobody denies bb invented light sticks, nobody says shinee didn't invent dance practices but everybody EVERYBODY refuse to accept that BTS did open the gate for western market, their faves did open Twitter accounts after BTS won top social artist award, the companies of their faves are "copying" the marketing strategy of BTS, they refuse to accept BTS DID PAVE THE WAY FOR KPOP. and here comes that one person.....🤡💀
To speak on the dilemma with the "love yourself" concept, while listening to the clips of the songs, I think the difference is clear. In Answer: Love myself, it's not "I love me" it's "I should love myself" and I think the difference between the two is huge. BTS is not promoting the idea that you will immediately love yourself, it's more of a growing process, of learning that it's okay to love yourself. Just telling your fans to love themselves won't make them do that, it's about showing them it's okay to love themselves becuase they deserve it. In Idol, "You can't stop me loving myself" is such a powerful way of showing self love and I feel as if it's a whole lot more effective than just saying "I love myself", "I love me", "Find yourself", "be yourself", "express yourself", ect. For me personally, I can not connect to just being told I should love myself, I need a reason to.
this! i see some people saying "jb did it first" or "there are many songs that said love yourself before" but bts went beyond that. their message was about growth, self-acceptance and identity.
I appreciate the fact that the BT21 Characters are gender neutral! I remember watching a clip of them discussing what the characters genders should be and Suga specified that he would prefer them to be neutral and the others agreed, again showing their willingness and desire to include everyone. Once again great vid. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🐳
They even have a clip of one of the characters trying to choose between the 'male' and 'female' bathroom, but they feel confused and end up crashing through the wall in the middle. I thought that was so powerful, a really outspoken message about a controversial current topic! As a nonbinary person myself I never expected to see my struggle represented anywhere in the relatively conservative kpop industry. I appreciate BTS & the BT21 team so much for taking that risk.
i actually have been noticing that a little after BTS releases a song, other groups use the same lyrics or very similar, i can remember this happening with Life Goes On (NCT's Life is Still Going On), Yet To Come (ITZY's "my best is yet to come" lyrics in Sneakers) and Butter (Super Junior's "sweet just like a mango" lyrics in Mango) 😭
@@abiisaqib2928 saaame 😭 people say shit about armys but we're so lowkey about these kinda stuff, i hardly saw anyone pointing out these similarities but kpop stans are extremely quick to say BTS "copied" their faves
BigHit did great with connecting BTS mv's and creating a whole BTS universe with a separate storyline for each member. It felt so personal and relatable to the fans. It gained them more love and applause for creativity. HYBE started to do so with all their other groups as well seeing how popular it became for BTS. Now even their rookie groups like TXT, LESSERAFIM, ENHYPEN have a separate storyline/universe going along with webtoons. WE STAN TRENDSETTER BANGTAN SONYEONDAN
Loved the video!! About the concept thing. I wanted to point out that bts don't really do concepts in the same sense that other groups do, they do it in a sense of passing a message instead of just aesthetics like how it is normally in kpop. And honestly it's really disrespectful when kpop stans reduce bts's eras and messages to mere aesthetical concepts. For example I've seen kpop stans refer to bts old school music as a hipop concept which is disrespectful on many different levels; for one hip hop is NOT a concept. second them saying that implies that bts stopped making hipop which is just blatenly false.
Ugh, you remind me once again how much I'm so glad I stay way from the kpop stans. But it really shows they now nothing about BTS and how genuine and sincere they are. Like hip hop, love yourself, youth....those aren't concepts but a state of mind and that people thinking they can be copied 😂. The boy in love, school uniforms, leather, etc....those are concepts. And then they'll say BTS plagiarized their groups concepts. Nope those are free use for anyone in any part of the world.
@@marissa1341 k-pop Stans are brainless mostly of them stan these groups just for visuals and they act like their copycats groups are the real blueprints 🙂
I love what you said about how bts treat concepts v others! It's something I've been thinking for years, but couldn't quite formulate into words. It's another reason I've always found most kpop mv to be so messy or uninteresting. All they cared about was some sort of aesthetic that sometimes didn't even feel cohesive. For BTS you KNOW there is a reason why things appear the way they are and how they connect to their album/song.
I’m sorry I can’t stop laughing at the I love myself Kpop trend. I love your channel so much. This is where I can woo saa. Thank you for revealing how much BTS has caused change in Kpop. However like everything else the groups over use it and run it into the ground. BTS does a thing and moves on. Please keep up telling the world what BTS has done and others use it like they always did it.
There is a huge difference in using the concept to make money or follow trend because everybody is doing it … but when BTS gives us the message it’s not about creating a trend ,it’s a pure MESSAGE for them and for anybody who is struggling to find that confidence and to love who they truly are ..it’s not a gimmick because even now they still say it
I remember when I got used to seeing BTS thoughtful lyrics in their mvs, so I started to turn on captions in other kpop videos - only to be turned off immediately when I saw that the lyrics made no sense 😬😬
bts had to crawl their way into the highly xenophobic and close-minded American music industry so that the others could walk. some kpop fans just can`t accept this fact. yes, your idols have talent but you can`t deny the obvious reason why it`s easier for them to get american media coverage now. the western media did not bat an eye for kpop until an act from south korea made them pause and think otherwise. credit should be given to whom it is due. nobody is questioning what your idols can offer, it`s just that everything is easier for them now that someone has paved the way.
In summary: BTS PAVED THE WAY. I recently saw a video by another youtube channel (who I like by the way I think their videos are generally good, make interesting points and not too biased) but they also talked about Love Yourself as a " concept" . The point is for BTS it was not a "concept", they truly meant it and it was an important issue to them, something they wanted to talk about and a natural progression in their story as artists. But obviously after they did, it other k pop acts started doing it (or trying too) and THAT WAS when, for these other groups, it became just another "concept" like any other. Like you said, a concept they would do and move on. They just looked at what BTS did and copied it in a lazy way. They never thought about the sincerity behind it, the true reason why BTS Love Yourself message resonated so strongly.
kpop acts suddenly aiming for American achievements after BTS had opened up that door for them feels so obnoxious honestly, like you can’t even win a Daesang yet you think you can win a Grammy or top the US charts just because BTS did? It makes me so angry.
Another trend is creating a game/games based on the idol group/ Blackpink recently unveiled their new game and I just thought immediately that it was the same concept as BTS universe. I was like bruh.
No one says other groups or idols can’t do these things too just because BTS helped popularize the/started them; however, it is crucial to point out what they’ve contributed to k-pop for sure. 💜💜💜
Whenever I see a new video of yours I always learn something new about BTS, Army, k-pop, other fandoms and the music industry. I really love and appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos Bora, thank you so much!
I remember back in 2016, I was so used to BTS having English captions in their videos, that I was saddened to see, that for ex most SM artists like EXO didn't have subtitles in their music videos.
fr, The reason why I started watching BTS was BECAUSE they had English subtitles and a very active translation community here on YT. I found Exo & BigBang first thanks to all the AMVs and crossover with the anime community but stayed for BTS. Finding out the BU theories and extensive backlog of content on top of that sealed the deal. Watching their story (both irl & BU) was like watching a series playout in real time and I don't think anything will be able to capture that magic for me again.
Great video as always. The fans of these groups act like their faves don't need or want to be where bts is when their faves say it with their own mouths. Bangtan really is a special kind of group. Although, people like to deny it it, I honestly don't think we'll have a group like them in a long long while.💜💜💜
We all know that BTS paved the way and they are the standard. Companies of other kpop artists are imitating and copying a lot of things that BTS have done, but instead to be grateful for what they have done for that bitter kpop industry ,their groups don't want even to spell BTS name. Great video.
Yap, BTS paved the way but meanwhile built a tall that others could hardly reach and swept away most awards. The whole Korean music industry must be happy or at least feel relieved now because of their enlistment.(But each member’s solo album still gain certain successes)
dont forget halloween themed dance videos, huge scale performances in award shows and artists having their own "run bts" and "bangtan bombs", allowing kpop idols not to rely all the promo from major korean broadcasting shows...bts popularized all that
Let's wait and watch where they'll get the inspiration for a while when bangtan will be on a break now(as a group) I'm really excited what others have to show in this industry for the time being 😗
But Bangtan will have solo work though. Right? Seriously these other idols and companies are shameless. If you see interviews of lot of those groups they can't even answer a question. It shows that they are not genuine. And most are not creatively involved either.
@@lakshi9276 yes their solo work will be ongoing but as a group what others will be showcasing?! @@komoerobi2521 I'm not surprised about the billboard situation. They never could take advantages out from BTS. Same with radio stations and even in Korea media they cannot. So when they can't use BTS, they suddenly become irrelevant. They can't get money from BTS. It has been like this from the beginning. I guess you watched Boracity's BTS VS Radio video. It talks about some of that. I don't like most of other Kpop groups because no matter how nice they look or how innocent they behave or fun their content is, most of them and their companies follow those suits (I'm not English. Sorry for mistake. I hope i made sense 😅) you know the easy paths and make deals. They do whatever to get achievements BTS has gotten. I always wondered how so many Kpop groups appear in American shows later after BTS did. Now i know. Boracity's VMA awards video shows that as well. It's frustrating. Yes. But that's how the industry and media is. It happened in the past to good artists who are authentic and who don't work the way the industry wants them to. Bangtan is smart. They know what to do. We just have to support them. About non ARMY speaking about BTS military situation, i don't think they have much information about it though. You'll see it from the video i sent you.

and i hate to say this but some companies pushing the love myself concept on a group when I know damn well they don't follow that message. bts did love yourself and genuinely truly you can see that it was something important to them and how much they changed individually after that. the industry just waters down everything and makes it a trend. I can't stand them especially since kpop has big issues with self image and worth the lookism is so severe.
like grps are now directly aiming to bbmas and Grammys the fans do same and overlook daesangs! and when Bts gets them in a row the fans starts calling out them as cheaters kinda thing
This was so necessary! Perfectly said and i have seen very few idols and artist in their industry talked about any few of these things and appreciate them it's very few of them
There were groups before BTS and there sure as hell will be groups after BTS, but it is undeniable BTS are real trendsetters and the blueprint for many kpop groups, even GROUPS/celebrities and idols today. Touching on the Love Yourself message, yes a MESSAGE, not a concept, not in the way BTS treat it, they don't talk about it in one comeback and dip, no they actually heavily promote it in what they say and in their actions. That's the hardcore difference between BTS and other groups, we will never ever get another BTS in this life. I feel so grateful
Nah , but some kpop groups , idols alone have made way more trends , call it tradition,, than bts , way more, !!! There are many tends/traditions made by other groups and idols alone that are followed by bts ! They are those trends which are literally now identity of kpop
It really seems like no one understands the Grammys that well. Foreign artists and especially their fans. It's not fan voted nor is it based on streaming numbers. It's based on the recording academy voters, which are all part of the industry. And many companies push their artists to the top by being part of the voting committee. submitting a song or album does not come close to securing a nomination. Never mind a win. And you can only perform if you're nominated. With the new rules of the Billboard hot 100, it's extremely hard for any foreign artist to get in the top 10 now as it relies the most on radio play. They changed to that after Butter. Again, American music industry makes sure that their artists are consistently played as they pay the station. It's how the stations stay alive. And how industry continues to play the system. They didn't like that fans were able to beat it for a while. Billboard Hot 100 only counts American plays, streams amd buys.
That love yourself concept part was so cringe. I couldn't watch the clips don't know how these fans are enjoying from their favs. I became an ARMY from DNA Era and HER is so special to me.
I literally watch your videos religiously. You are such a good channel. BTS are trendsetters, even though some people don't want to admit it. They popularised the kpop to the western and made them aiming for more, aiming to achievements that take time. I understand some of the artists, they wanting a Grammy, like wanting something bigger, is not wrong. The flaw here is when they want to jump straight to them. To earn a grammy is not easy, bts passed through musicbank, melon mama and others to reach the actual point. Just saying, aiming too much without looking to the next step can lead to downfall
They always down play BTS achievements but also want to have everything they have. And make a 2nd BTS. Sorry but that's not possible. There's only one original. The same thing happened with Michael Jackson. Even when he was alive there were so many jealous people and haters and media trying to destroy him. At the same time they wanted the next Michael Jackson. It's ridiculous. But till this day it's the same. There never gonna be anyone like him. It's the same in BTS case. They are our legends. 💜
Non Army here! I think on a base level, all these trends that BTS & BigHit (HYBE now) started in the past were ways to maximize their exposure to many fans possible. They're a very small group and company back then and they're wise enough to realize that. So regardless of how unconventional all these trends were in the beginning, hindsight all of it paid off for them. #RESPECT
I do think if a group has their own creative freedom and they actually want to share their own stories about self love and promote the message through their music there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it and people shouldn’t treat it as a competition or a “who started it first” but unfortunately i’ve seen a lot of groups using self love and mental health as a concept and like you said, it’s something that they mention throughout their promotion for that era but abandon the topic all together and move to the next thing which is very problematic… i mean they don’t have to talk about self love in every interview but you know someone actually believes the thing they’re promoting and the message truly resonates with them when it’s been something they’ve stood for since the beginning… However, it’s hard to point fingers and blame these groups since a lot of them don’t have the creative freedom and are just going along with what they’ve been told… i can imagine how hard it is to have your company force you to promote using a serious topic as a concept while not even giving you access to mental health care you need when the industry is highly demanding and intense like this… it’s really sad tbh! Also the person who commented about Namjoon having extensive knowledge on the topic is right but i wish they would’ve given credit to all the members of bts, ESP yoongi since he’s the one member that’s never been afraid to be vulnerable about his own struggles with mental health and is very candid about it through his music. Self Love is a message all the members seem to be passionate about promoting through their music and not just what one member stands for ! I think that’s important to emphasize!!!
Can we talk about the popularity of BT21 characters!!! They're so impactful to the fact that they're everywhere from very small stalls to big fashion malls! In my country I've visited so many places and I have a habbit of buying a key-tag including BT21 character!! And yes even non-fans buy them! It's like disney characters have their own fanbases!
And BTS also introduced disco sound to kpop! Afrer they released dynamite I noticed that alot of kpop groups and even soloists made songs with disco/retro sounds! It's something that had die down in kpop but when dynamite exploded worldwide others started to use that sound and colourful vibe to their songs and music videos! I've noticed it a lot after 2020!
To be honest, BLACKPINK DO COPY BTS THINGS! BTS has tiny tan characters and then blackpink also make it (ofc yg) and BTS made a game "BTS island: In the Seom" and now bp making a game "The game" it hasn't released yet. And one more BTS yet to come MV has lots of reference with their old mvs and when Blackpink shut down come it also had lots of references. Last but not least BTS started their second chapter and bp too like in shut down mv there were some parts where they down the shutter closing their old mv reference which means they also in their 2nd chapter. It can't be coincidence fr!
Dear creator of Boracity Magazine, Your channel is getting more and more famous and I'm so happy for you🥺 But I just hope BTS-antis don't destroy your channel. So, have a back up just in case. I know two very famous army youtubers, whose channels were shut down, Zohi JK ans BTSUJU, and they had to start again....this is just a friendly advice. Not trying to be rude.
Also, for your next video, or next to next video or later 😅😅...when you're free, would you please make a video on the best BTS interviews...like in 2021, one interview by an Indian reporter gained attention because how good the questions were and how the reporter appreciated each of the members and BTS as a whole...and like in 6:28 when members explain their music or albums.
kpop act all do the same after BTS has done it. when hobi was a headliner at a festival now another group is doing the same, and also their MV with past relics from earlier MV´s. groups also create their own reality shows like run BTS and other stuff. the label saw it worked and replicated it. it is the same with the whole idol system. but the labels need to understand that trying something new is what makes people from overseas love it more. we love individualism that´s why i love BTS and not the others. BTS is not trying to sing the same way. i can never hear who is singing in other bands but with bts they each have their own style of singing and personality so it´s so easy for us to pick a favorite. and they are extremally valuable with us and that makes us relate. korea is all about fitting into a crowd and not show weakness and just shut up and work hard. i truly hope they will change that mindset someday. but i also love other sides to korean society like the younger respect older people even if someone might exploit that. but they always question why BTS is more successful and that is why. i think they are afraid that, by giving idols more individuality and control over lyrics, the power will be split with the idols, and not only the label. idols will become much harder to control if they have more to decide. but look at BTS and bighit. if they each try to compromise than it can work. but lables wont loose power that is the problem
omg this..like I have seen old kpop stans saying"we miss old bts"but bruh appreciate an artist's versatility...like its ok not to like every song out there but encourage and appreciate their versatility!
^^^ don’t mind them. Their English songs are better than many Korean songs of other artists but kpop fans want to trash their music because they need something to hate on BTS. Little do they know that BTS don’t release music for Kpop fans but for ARMYS, period. And more than 60% of Armys are only BTS fans and don’t stan any other kpop group than them. They can’t call a kpop song flop, while the fans of the said group like the song. So the petty Kpop fans can keep their salty opinions to themselves because BTS gained more fans with their English songs than their favs’ albums combined. Dynamite was a huge GP hit and they have the audacity to judge them based on 3 English songs which weren’t even bad. If ARMYS like it then it’s not other fans’ business to tell them what to like and what not. And some of them think Armys force themselves to listen to their songs, lmao. Kpoppers should calm their horses and sit down.
There are many things you enjoy in promo of BTS has been done before by other groups .. photocards, fancam ( trend started by snsd ) merchandise , Japanese promotion, Japanese version of songs, Japanese originals ( boa started the trend ) weverse is literally answer to bubble and lysn started by SM.. every successful business ideas will be replicated
I can’t remember where I’ve seen it but i remember some korean react kinda channel where they were mentioning how before Bts no one did storylines or anything in their music and the Korean public wasn’t really open to it at first bc they didn’t wanna have to think hard abt the video or music lyrics but once they saw how the international fandom was so into it they gave it a chance and found what everyone else was loving about it and after that having story lines or universes or trilogies became popularized and many groups started doing it once they saw how receptive the public was to figuring out and discovering the story set out for them… i think that’s definitely been one of bts’s biggest impacts in the industry
Amazing, well-informed and -researched video as always Boracity Magazine! Your content is always a great contribution to the ARMY community and we value it so much
weverse is also a good example of this even though it´s the label not BTS. but bang PD even said that other labels are to old fashioned. the next ting groups will copy is the English singles i am positive it will be in 2023 or 2024. i know many have done it already but not as a single promotion like butter and dynamite. they will do this to go for the nr 1 on billboard hot 100 and grammy. now that BTS is not a rival anymore because of the military they are going all in i am sure about it. korea is very competitive. but when everyone doing the same thing it will look like a strategy not something experimental and honest like the love yourself concept. when it comes from your heart it means more than if you copy the concept from others🙄another thing is festival apperance i know BP did the cochella but not as a healiner they were not big enough but now that hibi has done it solo they was allowed to do it in london. and when BP talked at the queens b-day or something BTS was nvited for the white house. it´s kind of funny how we can predict what they will do next. a stadium tour will also be next along with online concert tickets and even coldplay is doing the cinema shows like BTS idk if he did it before too but i dont think it would have been possible
@@BhaktManomandirVihariniUma And what exactly did they achieve? Wonder Girls were known as two-hit wonders who wasted their massive popularity in Korea to chase a castle in the sky. Boa flopped completely in the west. SNSD is just another niche Kpop group in the global scene. Only social rejects still living in 2010 are still blabbing about them paving a nonexistent. Move. Touch grass. Face REALITY.
Speaking of trends: the massive scale of burn the stage’s global theatrical release was such a phenomenal event we had to figure out how theatres worked, show our local theatres of profits and sheer demand that a single screening would have and even appeal to bighit to increase the cities and countries that concert docufilm should be distributed in. Bighit also diligently adhered to all the whims of censor boards of various countries that weren’t even in there initially released list of countries the burn the stage would’ve screened in. All that admist the extremely damaging and heart wrenching nov’18 controversy. I NEVER saw a theare so full and so lively we even gifted em with bts plaques the manager would always recognise me whenever I visited the place and ran into him.
It seems to me that other Kpop groups would rather have American awards than receive Korean awards from their home country. I wonder how the Korean people/fans feel about this subject.
You know it's very simple ...... BTS has their own ideas and plannings. ........ Which is always new and unique and once other group sees it , they start following the same like a TREND
Please discontinue saying your English pronunciation is bad... It is part of who you are and mentioning it perpetuates this belief that there is only one acceptable way to communicate, which BTS has displayed is NOT the case! I personally relish hearing diverse voices, views, and thoughts. I am grateful for this thoughtful and generous channel...borahae 💜
I find it very insulting the way replications are done so blatantly in kpop. As if they think we can not tell or will not notice. The first time I saw blatant copies I was shocked. Usually when people copy each other they tried hard not to be too obvious. They took inspirations and allow themselves to be influenced. But straight up replications must have been done with the confidence that consumers and fans can not tell, or that they do not care. Either way, it's insulting. Excellent video as always. Thank you.
Very interesting. Not only did BTS set trends, ARMYs did too. The other groups have made video clips of introduction, crackheads, calling their faves cats or tigers, their usernames as members wife etc etc They even now try to organise themselves like Armys.
bora city - i really love your content, & i'm actually blown away reading the level of thought going into each of these comments -- thank u so much for sparking these conversations !
love yourself isn't a concept, it never was. it's a message BTS has always wanted to give through their music and they did, they did and they still do not only through their music but in every chance they get. THEY are the ones who ACTUALLY understand the importance of self love, who genuinely want people to accept themselves and love themselves. BTS will always be the ones to genuinely convey this message to me....
I agree, til this day they still talk about it and the importance of loving yourself and taking care of yourself.
@@eternityj it was a message that spanned three albums. What do you think a concept is? It's what the albums, music videos, campaigns were built around. I know using concept seem like something weird since everyone's using concepts and may not use it as BTS had or with such intentions as they had. Yet, it still was a concept.
well said!
@@RasendoriXProduction they're not denying that it was made into a specific concept, but just that BTS has consistently spread that message even before and after the promotion of that album series. BTS always emphasize it, but other groups cheapen that message by making it a marketing ploy and it's superficial when they talk about it.
@@minitwink16
I think you are seeing this from a shallow perspective.
It's a journey to love Yourself, but instead of one song or a just one lyric saying it(like kpop groups are doing),
What bts did was create an entire journey where they themselves explored the idea using a 3 part story structure, a beginning a middle and an end.
EDIT
I want to add more about them actually LIVING THE MESSAGE.
Comments like "Oh who hurt them, why are they so mad in this song, damn did they even have girlfriends or relationships?"
Imagine the shock people felt when they revealed the song was a message to the members of bts.
Yeah right
It sucks that people get hate for pointing these things out. Other K-pop artists are great and have done amazing things, but that doesn’t change the fact that BTS PAVED THE WAY.
Period well said

@@silviaj4965 i think they meant 'the first to have solo songs for each member on one album', not the idea of a 'solo'... obviously.

Whereas I mostly agree I think the fact that the message itself is getting put out there by so many is the most important part of this.
If it helps anyone it helps if you know what I mean.
They should aim for daesang first and then amas bbmas etc.
The problem is that bts made it look easy when its really not
cracked up at all the "i love myself" kpop lyrics. 99.9% of those lines are not written by the people singing them, therefore to me are fake as hell because how do you make someone else write you a self-love song and expect me to treat your message seriously😭
that's the biggest issue i have with my main example, itzy, who is the prime example of, as you said in the video, sticking to "love myself" as a concept, only to now completely switch up and move away from it to typical kpop music... about shoes. what type of progression is that😭
Agree but the chunga song isn’t , she wrote is , the song it’s called “ chica “ ( girl in Spanish ) , and you can tell it’s about herself , I’m not a “big fan of her “ but I truly enjoy that song ( maybe cuz you can tell the influence of shakira old songs ).
I got second hand embarrassment. The lyrics felt off, cringe and corny 😂😂😂

@@fuckityfuckish Plus now they FINALLY GOT Billboard Women Music Award 😌😌 I am so happy for them.

It's another reason I've always found most kpop mv to be so messy or uninteresting. All they cared about was some sort of aesthetic that sometimes didn't even feel cohesive. For BTS you KNOW there is a reason why things appear the way they are and how they connect to their album/song.
As we all know BTS the trendsetters they are. We are needing a part 2 cuz it was not enough in the part 1.

They created another version of kpop, they made it trendy and beautiful. I am proud that others are looking up to them.
bts had to crawl their way into the highly xenophobic and close-minded American music industry so that the others could walk. some kpop fans just can`t accept this fact. yes, your idols have talent but you can`t deny the obvious reason why it`s easier for them to get american media coverage now. the western media did not bat an eye for kpop until an act from south korea made them pause and think otherwise. credit should be given to whom it is due. nobody is questioning what your idols can offer, it`s just that everything is easier for them now that someone has paved the way.

I remember during the live yourself era. I noticed even a lot of american celebrities started talking about loving themselves.
7:51 this cracked me up so bad the 2nd guy trying to be humble while everyone else is just "NO we want no.1" like-😭😭

There's actually a group now called Black Swan :)
"LOVE YOURSELF"

Whenever I see a new video of yours I always learn something new about BTS, Army, k-pop, other fandoms and the music industry. I really love and appreciate all the hard work you put into your videos Bora, thank you so much!
The shade in this video istg I love you boracity
😂😂😂 when every group you had on screen was sayimg love myself in some form, it was so funny.
Great video.
bruh so true..most of these idols treat bts as voldemort...its kinda weird tbh
Yes something i too have noticed.
@@abiisaqib2928 and ridiculous!!!Is like they want to erase them, but history and facts can't be erased and distorted..
@@Riviere8281 Time will tell them soon!
They might have their concepts but the thing is many of these won't stand out
About the artistry many of these groups have been forced by the companies they don't even showcase their own creative side that's worse all of these are just running for numbers and competitions, versions, amount of cb, there might be very few talented but all these is not working
@@lakshi9276 thank you I'll check it 💜 yes so many people who are not even armys came out and talked about their enlistment situation it's so good to know how really people see BTS
And did you checked yesterday billboard introduced a new award show k- billboards =_= this was planned together with k- culture and k agencies :( saying their "mission is to find next BTS " this is so disrespectful BTS is still here with us! The western industry is trying to remove them from mainstream and here k industry is totally ignoring their impact and if we speak we are called as toxic (sigh*)
@@lakshi9276 omg you spilled! Yes all these people have been trying this since years 😂 yet they come no where to bangtan. There were so many hurdles before and still there are many this just keeps proving how much more BTS has yet to show they'll really keen on going above and above! I'll keep supporting them no matter what 💜
I am so proud of myself for choosing this fandom
and i hate to say this but some companies pushing the love myself concept on a group when I know damn well they don't follow that message. bts did love yourself and genuinely truly you can see that it was something important to them and how much they changed individually after that. the industry just waters down everything and makes it a trend. I can't stand them especially since kpop has big issues with self image and worth the lookism is so severe.
BTS PAVED THE WAY 🔥
Yes say it louder so our boys haters hear it
like grps are now directly aiming to bbmas and Grammys the fans do same and overlook daesangs!
and when Bts gets them in a row the fans starts calling out them as cheaters kinda thing
"them" as in daesang
@@Flake-n5d right , armies can’t accept if someone is better than Bts

I pray that we break down this wall. I want it TORN DOWN in fact.
"BTS PAVED THE WAY "💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The map thing was started by BTS during Fiesta and they continued to use it. I remember being amazed by it as someone who's followed kpop for so long
BTS PAVED THE WAY. POINT BLANK. PERIOD. My god i love them so much !
That love yourself concept part was so cringe. I couldn't watch the clips don't know how these fans are enjoying from their favs. I became an ARMY from DNA Era and HER is so special to me.
in conclusion, Bang Shi Hyuk is just smarter than JYP, SM and YG
Bang PD, is a visionary.
I honestly loved that bts had lore back when beautiful moments of life trilogy was active, i would stay up all night trying to figure the lore
#RESPECT
And they say 'BTS didn't pave the way' 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I do think if a group has their own creative freedom and they actually want to share their own stories about self love and promote the message through their music there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it and people shouldn’t treat it as a competition or a “who started it first”
but unfortunately i’ve seen a lot of groups using self love and mental health as a concept and like you said, it’s something that they mention throughout their promotion for that era but abandon the topic all together and move to the next thing which is very problematic… i mean they don’t have to talk about self love in every interview but you know someone actually believes the thing they’re promoting and the message truly resonates with them when it’s been something they’ve stood for since the beginning…
However, it’s hard to point fingers and blame these groups since a lot of them don’t have the creative freedom and are just going along with what they’ve been told… i can imagine how hard it is to have your company force you to promote using a serious topic as a concept while not even giving you access to mental health care you need when the industry is highly demanding and intense like this… it’s really sad tbh!
I can't wait to see a video about "Concepts" in kpop, gosh I love your videos because it can let this discussion be easy to consume!
Your videos are so neat and detailed!! Love the dedication you put in these videos!!!!!!
The last one reminded me of why I really fell in love with BTS.
I loved it!!!🤭 Specially a sprinkle of lil sass in between Lmao 😆💅🏻 BTS & ARMYs are the blueprint ngl🚶♀️
Dear creator of Boracity Magazine,
Your channel is getting more and more famous and I'm so happy for you🥺
But I just hope BTS-antis don't destroy your channel.
BTS is iconic will never be duplicated others may try but …….
BTS isn't just a TRENDSETTERS but they indeed the BLUEPRINT of KPOP... It's,
BTS + ARMY = ✨ THE BLUEPRINT ✨
Not really! Many other groups/idols alone have set trends / traditions that are followed by bts and are literally identity of kpop as a industry
Loved the video. My favourite channel for bangtan content these days. Thanks you só much and keep up the great work...
Thank you for another awesome video showcasing BTS as trend setters!💜
kpop act all do the same after BTS has done it. when hobi was a headliner at a festival now another group is doing the same, and also their MV with past relics from earlier MV´s. groups also create their own reality shows like run BTS and other stuff.
the label saw it worked and replicated it.
it is the same with the whole idol system. but the labels need to understand that trying something new is what makes people from overseas love it more. we love individualism that´s why i love BTS and not the others. BTS is not trying to sing the same way. i can never hear who is singing in other bands but with bts they each have their own style of singing and personality so it´s so easy for us to pick a favorite. and they are extremally valuable with us and that makes us relate.
korea is all about fitting into a crowd and not show weakness and just shut up and work hard. i truly hope they will change that mindset someday. but i also love other sides to korean society like the younger respect older people even if someone might exploit that.
but they always question why BTS is more successful and that is why. i think they are afraid that, by giving idols more individuality and control over lyrics, the power will be split with the idols, and not only the label. idols will become much harder to control if they have more to decide. but look at BTS and bighit. if they each try to compromise than it can work. but lables wont loose power that is the problem
you said exactly what i want to say..one of the major reason why i love bts is because how easy it is for me to differentiate their voice..
omg this..like I have seen old kpop stans saying"we miss old bts"but bruh appreciate an artist's versatility...like its ok not to like every song out there but encourage and appreciate their versatility!
@Soobin Soobin you know lmao the hypocrisy I swear..anyways the original is original!
Currently my favourite channel for bangtan content 💜.
English songs trend setters were wonder girls who did it after them we got Snsd who did it and it was started by boa ( she did English album )

"BTS PAVED THE WAY" PERIDOT! 😏😂🤩🛣️👏🕺🎶🎤👑🥇🏆🌎 #FOREVERWITHBTS #BTSxARMYGLOBALDOMINATION
Extremely valid points you have there.
Your videos are so cute, neat and organised and detailed. I like them a lot. Already liked. 👍💜

You know it's very simple ...... BTS has their own ideas and plannings. ........ Which is always new and unique and once other group sees it , they start following the same like a TREND
Came back to re-watch this (part 1 & 2) and truly, the world is divided - BEFORE and AFTER BTS
10000% agree!
The other groups have made video clips of introduction, crackheads, calling their faves cats or tigers, their usernames as members wife etc etc
They even now try to organise themselves like Armys.

I love the fact that bts has motivated so many groups to aim higher than just Korean award shows. Makes me happy to see those goals tbh.
I think part 3 should be what ARMY trends for BTS and the rest of the music industry follows e.g. Stationhead streaming party
