    Thank you--this was incredibly useful! I've had my Pixel 6a for just shy of two years now. I've always charged it at home with a plug in charger; I used the phone less than most people use their phones so really I only need to charge it maybe once every 3-4 days. Not too long ago, I bought a new (to me) car that came with a charging station. I didn't know why it didn't work, especially after watching the salesman demonstrate it using his phone...now I know.

    ....also very nice to have the charging port covered and not collecting sand, dust, lint, etc

    I used a QI charger on my Surface Duo 1, and it fitted perfectly although is was off centre due to the position of the USB port. BUT it only charged at 1W or less, partly because of the case I used. I tried to bear with it but ended up sending it back to Amazon

    Pixel 6a charges on a car’s charging pad?

    Does it complain about "dust or moisture" in the usb port while not charging? I've got magnetic adapters I normally use for my appliances and the pixel 6a complains about the adapter and shuts the usb port off. I have to totally remove and plug it back in before it will charge, defeating the point of the magnetic charger.

      I used it with a case for about a week and didn't see this happen.

    Jank! I'm surprised no case maker makes all kinds of cases that adds QI charging to models that don't have them. The old Nokia Lumias had models that had cases as accessories to add Qi Charging as an option. It marked up the price of the case but those who wanted it at least was given a really decent way of add-on.

      May seem crazy, but I could totally see myself using this with a case and only ever wirelessly charging here and there.

      @@scaryifliteral still would be nice for phone makers to have the option to add-on accessories that adds function. Main phone at a base price. Add-on for Qi charging for those who want it at a mark up. It's bad enough it's becoming common no charging brick comes with but do they really need to have a reason to include it now?

    I wonder whether this breaks NFC. Would have been nice to add that test.

    Hey Shane.
    I recently decided to pick up a Pixel 6a (Charcoal) after my Pixel 4 decided to quit on me two days ago (might be related to the motherboard issue I've seen on reddit -- tried all possible solutions + checking the battery (replaced it last year) with no luck). Had the choice to also get the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) via Amazon for $250 but decided against it to stick with Google's ecosystem. I would have gotten the Pixel 7a, but at the moment I couldn't pass up on the Pixel 6a offer.
    Currently waiting for the Pixel 6a to arrive (got it through Google Fi for $199), as well as an official charcoal case I got for free via the Google Store website (using store credit).
    Anyways I just wanted to ask how your experience has been using this Qi wireless receiver (that is if you still use it). My main concern is whether it still is working since you posted this video, as well as if it drains your phones battery when not in use. Currently browsing on Amazon and looking through a few mixed reviews. Seen some users using a different length cable than the one you were using in this video. The only major thing I've noticed is the small cm difference between the short and long version of this Qi wireless receiver. Which one would you recommend picking up?
    I've seen another brand that offer 1300mah instead of the 1000mah that you can get with the one you recommended, but again I'm seeing mixed reviews.
    Debating if it's worth picking up or if I should just stick with wired charging (possibly look into getting a portable charger instead with the money).
    Edit: Have to RMA my Pixel 6a due to the main camera sensor not working (i.e., can't focus on subjects that are far away).
    Update: Received all my accessories within the last few days and currently waiting on the replacement 6a to finally arrive today.

      Update: Received my replacement 6a (Brand New not refurbished) and got it all set up. Currently rocking the official Google Case, the Qi wireless receiver, and a screen/lens protector. Really enjoying the phone!

      @@gio235rulezis the wireless charging fast and has it affected battery life?
      I am currently using pixel 6a and wanted to add wireless charging to it.

    • @gio235rulez
      @gio235rulez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gaurav1714. Hello. The wireless charging isn't that fast (as Shane mentions in the video), but it gets the job done. I usually charge my 6a via my wireless charging overnight using adaptive battery. Haven't had any real issues with it.
      If I have to charge during the day I'll have it set on my wireless charger and it tends to charge at a slow pace (like Shane mentions - at about 5W-6W I assume). Charges about 20% in 40mins to an hour I think (I might have to test this again). I'll keep you updated when I get the chance to do so.
      Edit: Charges at about 10%-20% an hour.

    Good solution. But i never get this wireless charging. You cannot use the phone while charging compared to wired charging. The lessened effort is minute. Can anyone tell me how wireless charging improved their phone experience?

    • @gio235rulez
      @gio235rulez ปีที่แล้ว

      Mainly just the convenience of not plugging in your phone or dealing with wires.
      Depending on the scenario, I usually don't use my phone when on a wireless stand/mount unless I'm on a video call or navigating maps (in a car).

      over time, most ports will get loose with repeated plugging/unplugging and the cable will sit loosely and sometimes won't be charging when you think it is.

  • @marknewlandmn
    @marknewlandmn ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Oho no.... I tested those about 4 or 5 years ago. Useless was being kind to them, they are so slow to charge the phone and having the charging port obscured is annoying if you put a case over the phone.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You'd have to be comfortable with only wireless charging, for sure. For me and on this phone, I think it would be fine. Drop on the pad overnight and not worry about charging through the day. I spend a lot of time at a desk, simple enoug to have a pad here to so even slow charging it would have time to charge. Not for everyone, but could be for some people.

    Keep in mind, when you add wireless charging, you lose plug in charging.

  • @rjuez00

    nice ad, many reviews have said that they brake easily and the charging is essentially useless because it charges in like 6 hours
    btw at least in Europe is illegal to do an ad and not correctly report it, you could be reported

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This isn't an ad my dude. Bought the product myself and wasn't paid for doing it. This is just me telling people there's a product that can add wireless charging to their device if they want it. I even explicitly show the charging rate and said it would work for me as an overnight thing because the phone lasts all day. Pretty rude making accusations like this with nothing to base it on.

      @raxcentalruthenta1456 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Dude. People are allowed to share things they think are cool. Just cause the cool thing is a product of some sort, doesn't make it an ad.
