"Protecting people is what I do, you should know this by now"-Kara Danvers to Lena Luthor
"Protecting you is what I do, you will know this from now on"-Lena Luthor to Kara Danvers
The writers were never able to make Supercorp Canon, though they clearly wanted to. So instead they used double meanings in everything. One of those hints they sent was Andrea Rojas. They made sure we saw Lena had feelings like she did for Kara before. You can't tell me the Andrea thing was am accident by the writers. They used parallels in that entire relationship right as Supercorp was at its largest in popularity. This was to tell us Lena had deep feelings for the same sex before. So as a Behavioral Health Professional I have a breakdown that I think Supercorp fans will appreciate. Lena broke the way she did because the things she was hiding were brought to the surface and not just her denial of who Supergirl was. I'm not saying the show was implying Lena realized she was gay, but they were implying Lena cared for Kara in a way that went beyond friendship. Lena's pain was that she thought Kara didn't care as much as she did. Then Kara did her own speech and Lena realized that Kara was in as much denial as she had been. Season 6 is kind of proof of my theory. Season 6 was primarily Lena helping Kara except herself for who she is. Now this can be taken multiple ways and that was intentionally done by writers who weren't aloud to make them blatantly Canon, so instead they used double meaning on almost everything in season 6. Lena knew before Kara how she felt, that was clear by how different Lena became after she realized how she felt. The rest of the time was her patiently helping Kara come to terms with her own feelings and you can see Kara slowly except these things. Denial can be very very powerful. But if you look, Lena had slowly taken Alex's place in Kara's life and even Alex herself noticed this. You can't tell me Alex would feel okay in letting just a friend take her role in Kara's life. No she felt safe in leaving Kara with Lena cause she saw the connection, the writers made sure we knew Alex knew. All of this was intentionally made apparent to us that Lena had become the most important person in Kara's life and that last scene was Lena telling Kara she excepted herself and all that she is and that if Kara did the same, she would be there for her. Kara taking off the glasses while staring at Lena was a symbol from the writers of Kara excepting herself and an expression of what mattered to her, Lena Luthor.

@rbnbruna2632 There are 4 scenes in particular to pay attention to cause the subtext is very very clear. But the main one is the final scene. Lena says quite literally that she finally feels free after excepting herself for "all" that she is and she thinks if Kara could do that as well, she would finally feel free to be herself. Lena even goes so far as to say if Kara does do that, Lena will be there for her.
This is a very important scene to prove my theory because there is only 2 ways to take this scene and it's clear by the way they have Kara take off her glasses while staring at Lena that the writers were sending Supercorp fans a message. There is no other reason for them to end it that way. She wasn't standing on top of the city overlooking everyone while deciding to "come out", she was staring directly at Lena.
The other thing to keep in mind is Kara talked to the 3 most important people in her life about feeling lost, Cat, Alex, and Lena and it wasn't until Lena said she would be there that Kara removed the glasses. This is all symbolic. The writers weren't allowed to make Supercorp happen, so they hinted instead.

@rbnbruna2632 The other thing that gave our away to me was Alex. Of all of Kara's friends, Lena was the one Alex bonded with the moment Kara went missing because only Lena could understand how much Alex missed Kara and only Lena could understand how much Alex blamed herself. The show made sure that we saw Alex look between Kara and lena each time they had lingering looks, each time Lena said the same thing she did at the same time. Alex even commented on Lena and Kara getting close again. It was almost as if Alex was insuring that Kara's new favorite human was going to love her as strongly as Alex did. It wasn't until she was sure that Lena would protect Kara with her life that Alex fully committed to Kelly and started a family. These aren't things accidently done. These are things a show does to set up a romantic plotline. But DC and the WB said no, so they had to hint at it instead.
They also did a huge parallel scene, a callback if you will. Remember when Alex saved Kara using her pod and Alex said "you saved the world, and then I saved you", in season 6i think they intentionally mirrored that scene to cement Lena as Kara's most important bond by this time.
Kara: You protected me from losing a part of myself, you always do.
Lena: Well you protect everyone else.
This was Lena saying Kara saves the world so she makes it her mission to save Kara, very much like Alex.

@ryanabate9908 This is so beautiful 🤧
They are so beautiful! I love them so much it hurts, and read this made me emotional 🥹
And I agree with all you said!! It makes total sense! And Lena was also the only one that Alex showed that video of Kara, the one that Lena says "It's so real" with the hologram 🥹

@rbnbruna2632 Yeah that hologram scene got me in the feels pretty good. I truly think that by this point the show was still hoping they could do the final half of the season as a true romance cause man did they build up to that. They had more romantic scenes with Melissa gone than ever lol. But that hologram scene makes no heterosexual sense, can't take it as anything other than the feeling of a girlfriend missing her love.
