When I was testing this I had problems with a copy loop. If I uploaded pictures from my phone to nextcloud, when they synced with my pc, they would re-upload as a different picture. @@NovaspiritTech
Great video! One thing I always wonder about running a cloud service from home, is, are you comfortable leaving a PC on 24/7 when you are away? E.g. on holiday? A simple home server doesn't draw much power - but they can catch fire....
Ya in order for this to work you should ideally use a high-efficiency PC. Something like a NAS or one of the M series Mac Mini's would be good options if you want to replicate this at a low cost and power consumption

I used to have mine set up to backup to another 3tb nas using the backup method in the next cloud setup. Worked well. The nas was located in another building so was safe, not attached to main building.
I have a nightly cron job that runs restic to upload the encryption of the /var/snap/nextcloud directory to my bucket on an external third party cloud storage provider.
do you offer any training on how to use this software? we have it set up and hosted, but i dont have a manual or how to create projects, tasks, etc. workflows

I asume you will test them on a pc or minipc. Raspberry pi dont have enough power .. or maybe this latest version does... ??
How to transfer larger files, I found only wedavs protocol to access my nextcloud data folder , If I use scp /samba , it copies as a different user thatn www-data , which next cloud aio web ui can't access

Just upgraded nexfcloud to lasest version version after version from nextcloud 17 using build-in web updater, it was ok, but after latest step and it. ... no it works, but file sync stopped working correctly, some file sync ok, some fails... unfortunately, forgot to make a backup...
The new Photo app does have a few neat features, maybe its enough for you already. Edit photos, creating and sharing albums and even some AI features, they are rather funny than accurate, but it all is done locally.
Everyone should have access to their spouse's passwords. If they pass away, you need to be able to get into their stuff, especially if they have subscriptions or healthcare data through their work benefits. If you don't trust your spouse enough to share passwords, that's on you.
You spend ten seconds talking about your office software? That's it? That's a major topic when discussing moving away from Google or Microsoft. And you do it only online with no sync to desktop apps? Seems like a missed opportunity. But then you didn't really explain it at all.

Its a must if you’re running Chrome OS on VM. If you can’t have the Linux store, every app has to be run from the cloud. NextCloud fills that gap.

Explain how you set up office hosting. Did you just use the open community office server or did you set up a private server?

yea i had issues with collabor on pi4, but seems to work pretty good on pi5

no issues with file sync for me from phone to nextcloud, unless you mean desktop app
