Nuclear fallout varies greatly depending on its source, however often times it is so small that it can’t be washed off easily, it becomes lodged in the skin in the follicles of the hair, and in the hair itself. Shave your head shave your eyebrows your entire body. Use a n abrasive brush and scrub HARD it should HURT like hell do not splash water up onto yourself if possible use soap. When drying move directionally applying strong pressure rubbing down from the base of each limb this ensures that you’re not rubbing any remaining contamination around your body if possible make use of a detector to locate anything that may be contaminated. Despite what he said do not touch anything that is contaminated do not handle or disturb it in any way.
If your far away from the blast to not be instantly obliterated chances are the water will be just fine as all the pipes and mains are underground up close yes your right but you would only survive this long if you were far enough anyway so chances are the water would be just fine albeit a little contaminated possibly
If you have a well, even if the power goes out you have about 35 gallons in a pressure tank. And municipalities usually have water towers which keep pressure for a while even if the pumps are out. If you are in a tall building or skyscraper there's usually a tank on the roof. Even if there's no tank on the roof there's plenty of water in the pipes above you ... unless you're on the top floor... then you are screwed
This works for atomic bombs. More so for dirty bombs. Thermonuclear bombs on the other hand, it would depend on how high it detonated, even then, its not much radiation(of which there are 4 types) except gamma. Now, the dust particles that is the ground below the detonation center might have some elements that can hold high amounts of gamma radiation for a very long time. But thats it, most of the radiation gets absorbed by the atmosphere. Atomic bombs are expensive and less efficient(objectively) than thermonuclear bombs. Thermonuclear bombs, basically, contains so much heat that it makes the Higg's field go to zero, and then quarks and electrons is basically energy, increasing the heat even more. The whole bomb turns into heat. That heat is absorbed into the atmosphere, atmosphere stretches to an almost vacuum state(why you see those shadow burns on the bround, light basically has displacement potential) and vacuum pulls the atmosphere back and boom, shockwave and dusts and mushroom clouds. This is long. Just trying to differentiate what I could. Now, the three are the basic nuclear bombs. Stuffs like the reported Russia's Poseidon, you might want to buy hazmats to start leaving after 72 hours. You need more than that if it didnt rain for 3 days.
Or better 1. Collect a soda, some caps, a gun and a hat 2. Go outside closer to the blast zone and sit down 3. Pick a funny pose so your skeleton may be found 200 years later (Optional): Turn into a feral ghoul and provide some good loot
Plants have carbon dioxide not oxygen, and carbon dioxide is heavy and you trapped all the windows and staff if you will really do it you will most likely die. But carbon dioxide is small gaz, then I don't know.
1] If a nuclear bomb detonates DO NOT SHOWER the water is most likely contaminated, in the build up to nuclear war you should fill up a bathtub or sink with water or use bottled water sparingly 2] Shelter in place for atleast 2 weeks in the room closest to the centre of the house, this shields you mostly from radiation 3] Once you emerge from the shelter, avoid perishable food and bottled water from the outside and begin to make your way to the countryside rather than staying in the city

1. Modern nuclear winter dont act in the way cold war war nukes did. The nuclear reaction just makes the explosion huge, and makes a huge airburst. They arent meant to cause a fallout.
You should make these tutorials available in a low storage format so that it's easy and cheap to have a whole book of them on hand (Good way to do this would be write down the steps and format into a text document)
What after surviving initially???? They always tell you the immediate (24 hours to weeks) but never longer term like bruh you think the government would come and help survivors who would kill for a piece of bread at moments notice?
Also a tip: radioactive stuff doesn’t usually glow green. Nuclear fallout has been reported to look like snowflakes or ash falling from the sky. Grey ash.
It's kind of going to be hard to do all that, when the light from the blast literally blinds you. Not even closing your eyes and shielding your eyes with your arms will block out that blinding brightness.
If it’s a non reinforced strategic target like a city you probably won’t have to worry about fallout as you’re most likely being targeted by an air blast detonation instead of a ground blast.
Radioactive fallout isn’t really a problem anymore. Modern bombs are hydrogen bombs not fission bombs. The radioactive materials left after a hydrogen bomb decay in a few hours.
Depends on the nuke. But I heard modern nukes don’t even have radiation aftermath. It’s the constant bombing and blast radius that you need to worry about.
More importantly have pounds of baking soda. Hot af bath w 2-3 lbs of baking soda sitting in it until it goes to room temperature will suck all the radiation out. Rinse n repeat if necessary
Reminder that radiation travels at the speed of light. If you can see the blast, you’ve already been irradiated. What you’re avoiding is further contamination by things that will cause further irradiation.
Hey, just a general question. How does using an air conditioner cause risk? Its just a heat exchanger that recycles the air? Air conditioners do not use outside air.
The sanitization is NOT "in case fallout got on you" it is because you are now irradiated upon visual exposure. You must now SCRUB the irradiated skin and dirt from yourself to reduce total radiation exposure. Use THICK black bags, not thin white bags, or bags designed to have an odorant.
Conditioner also traps radiation so don’t use it when rinsing off
Wow thanks dude
