This goes for a different vibe than the original, but is no less amazing because of it. Compared to the original's slick, alien techno vibe, this remix goes all-out with the bombast, sounding like a truly intense climactic battle. This gets my seal of approval!
I really like this theme, maybe even more than the original. It feels like it has a sort of 'royal' feel to it which is fitting because you're dealing with the EMPEROR of this species that nearly drove the Luminoth to extinction and terrorized you throughout the game.
In my opinion, Emperor Ing is the best boss in the Prime trilogy (followed closely by Quadraxis my beloved). The stakes are high, makes you use most of your arsenal including the Morph Ball, tough as hell which is fitting for being the Emperor of the Ing Horde, and the music is insanely epic. This rearrangement kicks so much ass and really feels THREATENING
I have immense emotional attachment to the Prime series being the first games I ever really played as a child. Prime 2 especially, with how much of a gauntlet most of the game was like playing at the age of only 9 years old. This is beyond astounding, and its been a long time since music moved me to tears of awe. Its so rare I find orchestral arrangements THIS impressive- please, don't ever stop making these.
I feel this, in literally every way. Its kinda funny, because when I was younger I remember never being able to find very many remix's for Metroid prime 2, and now all of a sudden as an adult im finding a decent chunk of really good ones and its making me so nostalgic
This is legit for me as well my go to childhood games gets me teary every time. I wish I could go back and see little me get excited over magmoor and torvus again. I played echoes at the age of 8 and I want to say I beat prime 1 even younger, cant remember that first play through though. :c
Well, it kind of is. Consider what would happen if the ING manage to completely destroy light Aether and then find a way to leave the planet by possessing a space faring capable species. It would be catastrophic! Especially if they came into contact with the X parasites.
Absolutely love this. Makes me imagine if the game was made with this track in mind from the start, like each Dark area had just one part of the song in their own theme, like how the main MP2 theme has a bit of the intro (and 2:06 in this version!) of this song in it. Maybe Dark Agon Wastes would have some part of 1:20- 1:50 in its background music, for example. And with each area having some part of this song in it, when you finally get to this boss fight, it'd be one big reprise of the music you'd have spent so much time listening to while playing, all put together in this epic version that forever changes how you think about those tracks.
This is beyond incredible. Didn't lose any of the heart that makes Metroid the unique beast that it is. Great work bringing this composition into the fold as a fully orchestrated piece. I can picture this within the dream Metroid cinematic film if it ever happened.

Yes I am aware of the perceived shortcomings, but for me, remixes are all about not only capturing the tone of the original soundtrack but also the same emotions and everything. That's why I think that remixes are incredibly difficult to pull off and you did it here.

A nice rendition of phase 2. Although I prefer phase 1 more, because of the sinister vibe to it. Also, the choir is major plus. Phase 1 is prime orchestral material and it's free real-estate since no one (as far as I know) has made one.
Given this is a comment from 2 years ago, I imagine you've found this already, but just in case you haven't, the Harmony of a Hunter Returns Metroid Remix album has a kickass remix of both Phase 1 and 2 combined into one song called "Darkness vs Light."
The ing are a lot like the shroobs. Both are an dark parasitic species and both battles with the emperor ing and shroob queen start out sounding malevolent and change to a more agonized melody as the boss mutates into a more monstrous desperate form. But there is one difference. The ing were always evil but the shroobs not so. The main difference is the ing could not love. I honestly always used to feel sorry for the ing but no longer but I feel horrible for the shroobs.
