I have the Sony 6800W (Orange paint model) and it is one of the best radios that I ever owned, with the exception on my Japan Radio NRD-535D! Your radio is much better condition than mine, so keep yours safe! 73!
When I was in Guam I could pick up your FM stations from Okinawa & Osaka from 76 - 87 MHz via e-skip. Do you have stations past 90 MHz? or what is on it now in Japan 90 - 108 MHz? Can you pick up WWV & WWVH time signal from Hawaii & Colorado USA on Shortwave on 2500, 5000, 10000, 15000, 20000 & 25000 kHz AM mode? If you hear a female voice it's Hawaii & male voice Colorado once a minute as they sync the stations together.
I'm glad you watched the video. It's a shame that this radio, which has excellent performance, is not working. The main reason a radio stops working is that the transistors used in the radio have worn out, and to fix this, the transistors must be replaced and reconditioned. This radio has a complex structure that makes even experienced operators hesitate when it comes to disassembling it, replacing parts, and adjusting it. It's best to leave it to someone you can trust and who has confidence in their skills.
I'm glad you watched the video. It is certainly unfortunate that the number of shortwave stations is rapidly decreasing. It is likely that the number of shortwave radio stations will continue to decrease in the future, but I hope that pirate stations will emerge to make up for the decrease.
