Actually, Jaden's the one you want by your side during a tough situation. After all, he's the only one who retained his powers after the end of his series. Yugi: The Millennium Puzzle was shattered and buried deep underground along with the God Cards. Even in the new movie, Kaiba retrieved it and solved it but Atem's spirit only appeared to help Yugi for a few seconds and after that the Puzzle was destroyed for good afterward. Jaden: He permanently fused himself and Yubel so he has both her powers and The Supreme King's powers. He even summons Neos for real in the crossover movie that takes place after GX. Yusei: The Crimson Dragon removed the Signer Marks at the end of the series and Yusei's powers came from that. All he was left with after that was a motorcycle. Yuma: I know for a fact that Astral left him at the end of the series but I guess he can still do Shining Draw on his own. Still not as useful as being able to summon a freaking superhero anytime you want. Yuya: Yuya only has powers as Zarc and that is a bad thing as Zarc is essentially Zorc if he were a human. Even though the series isn't over yet, I doubt Zarc will return.
5D's has the best OST out of all the Yugioh's, and I think people underrate it too much just because it's an anime about card games on motorcycles... The characters are well developed, the duels are always fun to watch, the setting is awesome, and it's just keeps going.

i have watched Yugioh since it released. From Yugi to Judai Yuki, to Yusei Fudo.....Yusei has that serious personality that in my "OPINION" makes for a really cool protagonist. They don't joke or kid around, and thats what i like...they are there to get stuff done and win.
To me it depends on the character, like the all seriousness little humor trait works for some characters like Yusei, though it is part of what makes him a good character, while the joking hardly having a care outside of just simply having a legitimately fun time playing children's card games works extraordinarily well for Jaiden, which is why he's my favorite of the six main protagonists

When you really listen, the song sounds really sad at first but then there's a sudden rise of hope. It represents both Stardust Dragon and Yusei's purpose and goals very well. Then theres the drums that just represent Yusei's style and the kinda gritty and closely knit comunity life he lived within the satellite.
Yugi demonstrated courage of oneself and courage of the heart. He was far from infallible, and the few losses he suffered inspired him to become stronger. Jaden is determination. His own fair share of losses aside, Jaden is used to being down on life points or one turn away from a loss. His willingness to insist he isn't done was inspiring to friend and foe alike. Yusei is hope. Every card he draws he exemplifies the best of Yugi's original creed, that there is no such thing as a useless card. Just as a main protagonist's friends give him strength, Yusei synchros his friends to help him bring Stardust Dragon and other grand cards to the field of battle. It may be true Yusei never lost onscreen, but he is far from infallible.
Yusei lost to Kiryu, they just had his D Wheel break because if the attack went through then Yusei would have been killed. In the Manga the only time Atem was legitimately defeated was his last duel against Yugi. Yugi himself never lost but he doesn't have that many solo duels
I feel like 5D's could actually stand as a good show, because it deals with real world problems, and really delves into the post-apocalypse world. Well developed characters, decently told subplots, very strong continuity and order of events, what else could you ask for? Oh yeah, good soundtracks. :D
Unfortunately I think neo domino city in arc v is in alternate dimension where Yusei doesn't exist it would be cool to see all the main characters in arc v
You gotta remember 5ds is probably the darkest of all the Yugioh anime eras. For something like that you gotta have a pretty mature calm and collected protagonist and I really truly believe thry hit it out of the park with Yusei
The best for me, was the first season with Yugi. Not cuz of "nostalgic", but because the villain, pegasus, was really well made and over all every charakter had a reason to take part at that tournament. "everyone's willed to play my game, if they just have the right reason for it". Don't know the exact quote, heard it in german, sry :D But 5Ds was the next great thing to me, cuz those people we're believable in their world and Yusei was just.. a fricken wise guy. And he always seemed so friendly n' stuff. He's just a smart good guy, and I don't see that very often. I felt like those people we're well thought out and I liked it. I loved GX for it's setting with that academy and the charakters were great as well. I just don't remember it too well. It was entertaining tho, but to me, pegasus will always be one of my favourite villains of all time :P
Something I loved the most about the way Yusei was portrayed is the fact that he was the only Yu-Gi-Oh! Hero to get to showcase one of those "badass sweeps" that usually villains do. Remember how in GX Satorious managed to beat someone with some BS combo without even having a turn of his own to further establish him as a threat, well our badass friend Yusei did something like that in the crash town arc, remember those 3 duelists challenged him, and Yusei swept all 3 of them in like a turn.

yusei had to endure a lot of pain and loss to be successful. The story is very well built, it's not just the strength of friendship anymore but it's also a vortex of hatred, love. a good series best in both music and epic monster summoning makes me super excited
now as much as i love Yusei, you gotta admit he's a bit too perfect. I mean the other yugioh protagonists are kinda only good at duels. But Yusei? He's like a fucking engineer programmer physician scientist duelist who can build a fricking motorcycle from scrape. Yusei is like the batman of the yugioh protagonists.
+Bukacake Yusei got a lot from Kaiba (intelligence, programming abilities, engineering, and of course the duelling) apart from his personality, which they let it Jack, lol

He used the crimson dragon to draw majestic dragon when he needed to a few times, which is kind of sad to me but at least he doesn’t use probability manipulation BS like Yami Yugi or Yuma

***** Yeah..THOSE. Damn. I hate facing them. They're all above level 5 / 6. Some even LEVEL 10. And each of them has an effect that makes them immune to effects from monsters that have lower levels than what they have, and since I run a (mostly) level / rank 4 deck with some modifications to summon higher level monsters (Synchros and XYZ), This puts me at a disadvantage UNTIL I get my higher monsters on the field ( not that it gives me any guarantee of winning, however. In fact, 99% of the time, I DO LOSE to a Qli deck.) . Also, since they run the Pendulum summoning thingy, they can just spam powerful monster summonings to the field in a single turn like BLAM !!. And unless I just HAPPEN to have Solemn Warning or BTH, I can't do SHIT about it. Well, I have my own ways of summoning powerful monsters quickly, but its not guaranteed that I'll have the cards needed for it EVERY time. Plus, there's a limit on how many times I could do it. Pendulum summoning smashes right through that. All the player has to do is ensure that the Pendulum isn't broken for TOO LONG, even if it DOES get bashed. One turn ideally, two at the VERY WORST. That's all. Compared to that, the resources that XYZ, Synchro and Tribute Summons use are considerably higher, I'd say. And if you're dealing with a deck that doesn't let you utilize the graveyard, EVEN MORE SO. But I guess that's a heavy risk even for Shaddolls and BAs as well, Shaddoll especially. That deck thrives on Graveyard effects AND opponent monster summoning, battle phase and spell / trap restrictions. Artifact Ignition, for one. And that annoying WINDA. Also CONSTRUCT. That thing can instantly destroy ANY specially summoned monster it battles, normally.
Yanamandram Kumar I play Heralds. People complain about my deck, but there's no denying that it's never been broken. I can beat Qlis with a small amount of luck, but it's still a long shot and all it takes is one Vanities or Skill Drain at the wrong time to make me scoop. The latest herald is level twelve, can negate monsters, spells, and traps, can negate pendulum summons and has 2000 atk, which allows it to kill any Qliphort that is not tribute summoned, so for all intents and purposes, if this god among fairies hits the field early enough, Qli's are just *fucked.* Fucked as hard as they fuck every other deck. Qli's are transparently broken. If you play them, you have no excuse to complain about losing in a fair duel. Ever. Why anyone would play such an unfulfilling deck in the first place is beyond me. Here is the depth of my contempt for this deck: I was fed up. I'd lost three duels to Qli and nekroz already. My opponent was Qli; had the ideal hand. I had the Herald of Ultimateness on my first turn -- so that didn't mean shit to me. I taunted him, 'said I'd make him surrender. He laughed...for a while. I negated everything he had. I negated until he decked out. Fair is fair. He didn't surrender. But still, I felt justice had been served that day. Fuck Qliphorts. Just fuck 'em. .
***** I see..Heralds eh? :) I'm not sure. I don't know much about them. I must have lost to them too, but have max respect for anything that's strong AND fair at the same time. True, Qlis are quite un-fulfilling. Its like they have this huge in-built system using Qliphort Scout and Monolith that lets them get additional cards for almost ZERO COST. and then wham!!! The opponent suddenly is in a fix as to whether to try and negate the summoning, or answer it back with good summonings of his own ( provided he has the cards for it ). I try to keep my SW and BTH reserved for occasions when 3+ Qli monsters spam the field and then use them. Until that point, its a lot of draw luck for me as I try to get the cards to perform quick XYZ and Synchro summons to get a foothold, and possibly increase my advantage. Plus, since I run a Battlin' Boxer Synchro deck, I try to have all my copies of Lead Yoke on the field with XYZ Reborns, Blocks and Overlay Regens in my hand and on my field when its needed. Plus, I also run Silent Honor Ark x 2, so I can absorb the first two specially summoned Qli monsters that come out. Then there's Lightning Vortex x 3, which I keep handy while keeping a copy of Glassjaw in my hand. My setup is such that I try, to the max, to keep my field from being destroyed and have my monsters in play at all times, so that come time for Synchros (like Ally Of Justice Catastor or Junk Destroyer or Crimson Blader or Junk Archer / Beserker) I can give them somewhat of a free rein. That's basically what I try to do. I typically try to get Crimson Blader out early, and have set cards that can protect him out, so that when he destroys a Qli monster in battle, that Qli user CANNOT Pendulum summon on his turn. Then there's Catastor, who can crush any Qli monster that's not Tribute summoned, and Honor Ark as well. Its not a surefire way of winning at all times, but it at least stalls the Qli for a bit. :)
I haven't watch the full 5Ds series because i thought they were shit years ago. I've started watching it now and i already think its the best yugioh series of them all, Yusei is like a smarter version of Yami Yugi and even cooler, and Jack Atlas reminds me a lot of Kaiba. This series are so badass, anyone who thought 5Ds is bad i suggest u watch it again.

Also the original one had a slightly better plot with basically every season. I'm watching 5Ds now and i'm at episode 119 and so far this is freaking masterpiece, but still...
yusei is the embodiment of the little guy winning. All his monsters are small and weak but combine to beat all the odds. Its the essence of the underdog.

Honestly, their decks are different due to their different summoning methods. If we're talking real life decks (Utopia vs Stardust Dragon), Yuma definitely wins there.

The Shining Draw opened a lot of creative ways for Yuma to pull off a win out of his ass. That's funny considering that as an archetype, Utopia has consistently gotten better support than Stardust has. Not saying that Stardust and Junk haven't gotten good support, but Utopia has been getting a lot of special treatment.
Everyone yugioh mc drew power from some kind of external mystical power but yusei drew power from his friends and most importantly himself. The most honest of the Mcs.
Having the ability to uphold the fire-typing is something that Tobias was really good at and it is then by no surprise that everyone of us believe that he was the strongest trainer in the entire series for this reason and his very powerful Darkrai, capable of taking out the entire team of other trainers single-handedly
Yugi had not only Knight of Destiny , but Obelisk with his show exclusive effect and Horakhti with Infinite power. And in all them , only Horakhti is a legit card , but very limited and with the condition of having the Three Egyptian gods in your field to summon and auto-win

Yusei is awesome and all. I don't know who's better him or Yami Yugi but out of all of themes of him, Jack, and Crow his is my least favorite. However Clear Mind > Jack's Theme > Crow's Theme > Yusei's Theme.
I agree with you for the most part. Just because it's part of the Yugioh series does not mean people should be forced to like it. I like 5Ds and Duel Monsters. I don't care for the preferences of others but I don't want them to go around telling what Yugioh fans should do and what they shouldn't do.

Something I loved the most about the way Yusei was portrayed is the fact that he was the only Yu-Gi-Oh! Hero to get to showcase one of those "badass sweeps" that usually villains do. Remember how in GX Satorious managed to beat someone with some BS combo without even having a turn of his own to further establish him as a threat, well our badass friend Yusei did something like that in the crash town arc, remember those 3 duelists challenged him, and Yusei swept all 3 of them in like a turn.

***** Yeah..THOSE. Damn. I hate facing them. They're all above level 5 / 6. Some even LEVEL 10. And each of them has an effect that makes them immune to effects from monsters that have lower levels than what they have, and since I run a (mostly) level / rank 4 deck with some modifications to summon higher level monsters (Synchros and XYZ), This puts me at a disadvantage UNTIL I get my higher monsters on the field ( not that it gives me any guarantee of winning, however. In fact, 99% of the time, I DO LOSE to a Qli deck.) . Also, since they run the Pendulum summoning thingy, they can just spam powerful monster summonings to the field in a single turn like BLAM !!. And unless I just HAPPEN to have Solemn Warning or BTH, I can't do SHIT about it. Well, I have my own ways of summoning powerful monsters quickly, but its not guaranteed that I'll have the cards needed for it EVERY time. Plus, there's a limit on how many times I could do it. Pendulum summoning smashes right through that. All the player has to do is ensure that the Pendulum isn't broken for TOO LONG, even if it DOES get bashed. One turn ideally, two at the VERY WORST. That's all. Compared to that, the resources that XYZ, Synchro and Tribute Summons use are considerably higher, I'd say. And if you're dealing with a deck that doesn't let you utilize the graveyard, EVEN MORE SO. But I guess that's a heavy risk even for Shaddolls and BAs as well, Shaddoll especially. That deck thrives on Graveyard effects AND opponent monster summoning, battle phase and spell / trap restrictions. Artifact Ignition, for one. And that annoying WINDA. Also CONSTRUCT. That thing can instantly destroy ANY specially summoned monster it battles, normally.

I play Heralds. People complain about my deck, but there's no denying that it's never been broken. I can beat Qlis with a small amount of luck, but it's still a long shot and all it takes is one Vanities or Skill Drain at the wrong time to make me scoop.
The latest herald is level twelve, can negate monsters, spells, and traps, can negate pendulum summons and has 2000 atk, which allows it to kill any Qliphort that is not tribute summoned, so for all intents and purposes, if this god among fairies hits the field early enough, Qli's are just *fucked.* Fucked as hard as they fuck every other deck.
Qli's are transparently broken. If you play them, you have no excuse to complain about losing in a fair duel. Ever. Why anyone would play such an unfulfilling deck in the first place is beyond me.
Here is the depth of my contempt for this deck: I was fed up. I'd lost three duels to Qli and nekroz already. My opponent was Qli; had the ideal hand. I had the Herald of Ultimateness on my first turn -- so that didn't mean shit to me. I taunted him, 'said I'd make him surrender. He laughed...for a while. I negated everything he had. I negated until he decked out.
Fair is fair. He didn't surrender. But still, I felt justice had been served that day.
Fuck Qliphorts. Just fuck 'em.

***** I see..Heralds eh? :) I'm not sure. I don't know much about them. I must have lost to them too, but have max respect for anything that's strong AND fair at the same time. True, Qlis are quite un-fulfilling. Its like they have this huge in-built system using Qliphort Scout and Monolith that lets them get additional cards for almost ZERO COST. and then wham!!! The opponent suddenly is in a fix as to whether to try and negate the summoning, or answer it back with good summonings of his own ( provided he has the cards for it ). I try to keep my SW and BTH reserved for occasions when 3+ Qli monsters spam the field and then use them. Until that point, its a lot of draw luck for me as I try to get the cards to perform quick XYZ and Synchro summons to get a foothold, and possibly increase my advantage. Plus, since I run a Battlin' Boxer Synchro deck, I try to have all my copies of Lead Yoke on the field with XYZ Reborns, Blocks and Overlay Regens in my hand and on my field when its needed. Plus, I also run Silent Honor Ark x 2, so I can absorb the first two specially summoned Qli monsters that come out. Then there's Lightning Vortex x 3, which I keep handy while keeping a copy of Glassjaw in my hand. My setup is such that I try, to the max, to keep my field from being destroyed and have my monsters in play at all times, so that come time for Synchros (like Ally Of Justice Catastor or Junk Destroyer or Crimson Blader or Junk Archer / Beserker) I can give them somewhat of a free rein. That's basically what I try to do. I typically try to get Crimson Blader out early, and have set cards that can protect him out, so that when he destroys a Qli monster in battle, that Qli user CANNOT Pendulum summon on his turn. Then there's Catastor, who can crush any Qli monster that's not Tribute summoned, and Honor Ark as well. Its not a surefire way of winning at all times, but it at least stalls the Qli for a bit. :)

I haven't watch the full 5Ds series because i thought they were shit years ago. I've started watching it now and i already think its the best yugioh series of them all, Yusei is like a smarter version of Yami Yugi and even cooler, and Jack Atlas reminds me a lot of Kaiba. This series are so badass, anyone who thought 5Ds is bad i suggest u watch it again.

The exact same stuff could be literally called on every Yugioh series ever, it's just anime, i know 5Ds was trying it's best to be bound to the game's logic, but there still is some flaws just for the sake of the plot, dude.
There's a reason why i'm saying the original is better, it's because it was simple, straight and every character had his major rule in the anime.
Also the original one had a slightly better plot with basically every season.
I'm watching 5Ds now and i'm at episode 119 and so far this is freaking masterpiece, but still...

If we're talking real life decks (Utopia vs Stardust Dragon), Yuma definitely wins there.

That's funny considering that as an archetype, Utopia has consistently gotten better support than Stardust has. Not saying that Stardust and Junk haven't gotten good support, but Utopia has been getting a lot of special treatment.

Yusei is awesome and all. I don't know who's better him or Yami Yugi but out of all of themes of him, Jack, and Crow his is my least favorite. However Clear Mind > Jack's Theme > Crow's Theme > Yusei's Theme.
