Heifitz, Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Many decades of listening and I still can't find another recording of this masterpiece that even comes close.
All excellent choices for this exquisite piece, from among a great many terrific recordings. I'm particularly fond of the Kreisler, which captures a style of play that, unfortunately, is not heard anymore. Some recent restorations have improved that recording markedly. He is my favorite of the "Old School." It's also worth noting that the majority of violinists who have recorded this concerto use his trademark Kreisler Cadenza. Good also that you noted Schneiderhan, an artist who has largely disappeared from the collective consciousness.
Do you have any more modern recommendations? It seems not many people recommend newer recordings which I don't understand.. The recording technology is just so much better. The musicians can't be getting worse, if anything you'd expect them to be getting better having had more time to interpret, understand, practice (whatever). Appreciate the recommendations.

A great video - thanks. I have the Wolfgang Schneiderhan performance which I love, but I will have a listen to some of the others.

Thanks, Lee! Yes, that Kreisler is the one I turn to most often

The CD of Beethoven Perlman Giulini . Is whith Philarmonia not whhit Chicago .
Correct, it’s with the Philharmonia. I was confusing it with Perlman/Giulini’s recording of the Brahms concerto.
