  • UPDATE: This wash was completely demolished! The reason is because Scrub-A-Dub will once again do a COMPLETE overhaul with a new building, wash equipment and vacuums. With the Shrewsbury Street getting a interior renovation with new Tommy equipment, Grafton Street is the last location left with vintage Hanna equipment.
Here is a 60fps retake of the Scrub-A-Dub Car Wash on Park Ave, in Worcester MA! I am planning onto filming the 2 other Worcester tunnel locations soon, as I heard that the Shrewsbury street site got new tunnel equipment!
This is one of 4 (yes, 4) Scrub-A-Dub locations in Worcester. 3 of them are tunnel washes, while the 4th is a self service/touch free IBA site. The 3 tunnel sites actually used to be owned by the people who own Minit in Middleton, until they sold them to Scrub-A-Dub in 2004. At that time, all of the tunnels looked MUCH different then they do now.
All 3 featured vintage Hanna equipment, including the rare Shammy Shiner chamois drying mitters. They were very similar to Sonny’s Wipe-O-Matic, but they moved in a complete circle instead of an oval. 2 of the locations had (and still do!) the Superior Hurricane Drying system, while the other had a combination of old Sonny’s and Superior dryers.
However, Scrub-A-Dub eventually removed every single Shammy Shiner from the 3 tunnel washes, and replaced them with AVW dryers around 2014-15. This is quite disappointing, as there are no more Shammy Shiners at a SINGLE car wash in Massachusetts. I assume they were getting old and outdated, and they wanted to remove them to improve drying quality.
This location had gotten renovated in mid-2019, replacing most of the original Hanna equipment. This included installing a new conveyor, AVW equipment, new signage and LED lights for the drying section. Surprisingly, they kept the old Superior Hurricane Drying system! They must’ve realized they still work and do a great job so they kept them! They also kept the one at the Grafton street site.
Chemicals are from Simoniz, now including the Ceramic Sealant! I do not know when they added this, but it seems like it was fairly recently. It is included in the Ultra Wash, and is a $5 add-on to any other wash package.
The wash shown in this video was the $24.00 Ultra Wash, but it came to $20 as we are AAA members and we got a discount! The VERY friendly employee told us this. The wash included:
    *Express Wash
    *UltraShine
    *Under Wash
    *Rust Inhibitor
    *Wheel Brite
    *Tire Shine
    *Vision Clear
    Wash Quality: 10/10
Comments: the wash did a great job! It left our car spotless and even bone dry, with how powerful the dryers were! This is definitely one of the best Scrub-A-Dub locations that I’ve been through.

Looks like when you got to a Scrub-A-Dub Car Wash at any location, you'll see some good old Simoniz chemicals. Cool!

I like those old school Hurricane dryers.
