Real Madrid has the richest history in football. They’re like Lakers or Celtics in NBA terms, but more. Their squad isn’t the best rn, but their mentality is the strongest out of all teams. They’ve got that European pedigree like no other team. The winning culture is what got them into the final. Hala Madrid!
Also I have to say they have the best player and best midfielder in the world in the form of Benzema and Modric. Vinicius Jr is one of the most exciting players in the world and Courtois is one of the best keepers. The likes of Rodrygo, Valverde and Camavinga are rising young talents and so is Vini tbf. Cama is only 19
they're better than they're supposed to be though, look at all the teams they have beaten in this ucl campaign. psg, chelsea, city. Before this season starts i thought they'd only be good at La Liga, but instead they dominated the whole Europe.

Someone’s gotta explain them how rare and unbelievable this CL run from Real Madrid is. They came back from the dead 3x times in a row this year. They eliminated PSG, Chelsea and Man City who were arguably all favorites to win the CL.
The mentality and presence of this team is something I’ve never seen before, truly magical.

I think that is the fault of the video. It could have done a better job of conveying that kind of context. It does not even show the aggregate score, it only shows the score of the current leg.

you have to understand that in the knockout stages (16 teams left) they always play one game home and one game away and count the goals on aggregate. So when e.g. Rodrygo scored the 1-1 against man city in the second leg it was really 5:4 to mancity, therefore the 2:1 from rodrygo right afterwards was vital to take them to extra time because then it was leveled 5:5 on aggregate and then Benzema scored the decisive penalty for the 3:1 or 6:5 overall

Benzema has been one of the best strikers in the world for a while. But when he played with Ronaldo he played more of a false 9 and Ronaldo as the main scorer that’s why he scored less. But for people who understand football and watched Madrid back then know how important and good he was But that’s what makes benzema so good he doesn’t need to score to be good. He’s very unselfish as well!
He’s one of the most complete strikers I’ve ever seen. Sure he may not be silky smooth or possess any dribbling qualities but his hold up play, link up and goal scoring abilities are second to none.

Just now he does not need that much, but when he fed Ronaldo with assists, he was a magician. His play against Atletico on UCL is a good hint of who Benzema is

What Benzema and Real Madrid have done still gives me goosebumps. Against the best teams in Europe , its like coming back 3-1 down in the nba playoffs three times against Lebron - PSG , Giannis- Chelsea and Steph Curry and Klay - Man City. Also Karim Benzema has always been a good player but he was always in the shadows because of Ronaldo and Bale , he's become Legendary this season and if they win the final against Liverpool it might be the greatest run in champions league history.

06:20 which is actually what happened with CR7 at United. the first 2 seasons he was there, he was basically a meme (before meme's) he was seen as a player with loads of tricks and skill but no end product and too light weight. Then CR7 bulked up and became an attack machine. Vinicius jr kind of similar, less of the bulking up, but ineffective in his first year at Real, but this year is in beast mode. Benzema is probably the best Center Forward/Outright Striker, the other contender would be Lewandowski. Harry Kane at Tottenham is probably the other main contender, but Benzema is the top of the pile of that type of player at the moment, all 3 are world class though
Outright Striker/Center Forward/ Central Finisher Its quite a specific role, there are not that many good ones about at the moment, its not a very fashionable position, but was very common 10-15 years ago, kind of like the NBA "Big man era but less about height and more about strength, smaller more technical players are more common currently

Yeah, this season Vinicius and Benzema are the best duo in the world. Their numbers are fantastic. Fun fact is that if you go back 1 or 2 years Benzema had a moment where he asked a team mate to not pass the ball to Vini cuz he was playing way too bad. He apologized, cuz in reality Vini was just 20. For soccer this is very young and he always had Benzema as a big brother to him. Vini improved a loooooooot this season and nowadays Madrid is a completely different team when they have Benzema and Vini together. 🤣

I think there were 3 aspects that made this miracle: First, REal Madrid have a good team, but nowhere near as good as City or Liverpool, but because they know they play for the most successful CL Club in history, there is a huge Placebo-Effect. Then second, when the stadium Bernabeu is on fire, it is a pulsating frightening amazing atmosphere, and third City's manager Pep plays total football, the most beautiful that has ever been played. And he refuses to adapt his tactics to unforeseen things happening against them on the pitch, he doesn't grind out results, he doesn't sit back, he plays the same beautiful tone at all times. And it has cost him so many times. City should have won this 7-1 on aggregate.
I still get goosebumps when I re watch for the 20th time, Real Madrid was not the favorite on that championship, a lot of key players left the club and everyone was saying there's no chance in hell Real would win that tournament. Also usually on any knock out stage you get some easy teams to beat sometimes, Real Madrid got the best 3 teams in the world (PSG, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool at the final) at that time with more chances to win than RM. Thats why they say "We fight till the end"

I love to see young black men in America becoming football fans! I’ve started playing the game in 76’ and a Real Madrid fan since 94’. I am the only black American in my Real Madrid fan club! So sad being the only Black American at pick up games my whole playing life. The world of international club football is absolutely amazing, and adds so much to my sporting life! its hard to expain how rare Madrids run this season is, the best way to compare for u nba fans is imagining a team being down 3-1 all three series leading up to the finals, and winning all series 4-3
3 partidos de eliminatoria a doble partido ,uno en cada campo de los equipos, en octavos de final el Madrid se enfrentó al PSG en París perdió 1:0 , en Madrid ganó 1:3 , la eliminatoria la iba perdiendo por 2 goles de ahí la épica remontada en los minutos finales , de hecho hizo 3 goles en 16 minutos nada fácil.
La eliminatoria quedó 3:2 para el Real Madrid al final de los dos partidos.
En cuartos de final se enfrentó al Chelsea donde el Real Madrid le ganó 1:3 en territorio inglés, la vuelta en Madrid ,el Madrid perdía 0:3 , marco un gol en los minutos finales , para forzar jugar la prórroga ( 30 minutos extras de juego) donde le marco otro gol más y quedaron al final de los 2 partidos 5:4 a favor del Real Madrid.
En semifinales el Manchester City ganó 4:3 , al Real Madrid en Manchester , la vuelta en el Bernabéu iba ganado 0:1 , en el minuto 89 de partido , el Real Madrid marco un gol en el minuto 89 y otro en el 90 , logrando empatar la eliminatoria y forzando la prórroga ( tiempo extra de juego) en la prórroga marco el tercer gol Benzema dándole la clasificación para la final al Real Madrid por un computo total entre los dos partidos de 6:5 para el Real Madrid.
El estadio Santiago Bernabéu es conocido por ser el estadio donde más remontadas se han hecho en la historia del fútbol mundial realizadas por supuesto por el Real Madrid, la atmósfera en el estadio es impresionante os recomiendo viajar a España , en concreto a Madrid la capital , para que veáis como se vive esa atmósfera , en partido de Champions League.
Al estadio y su afición, Jorge Valdano la calificó como miedo escénico de los rivales por la grandeza del estadio.

I mean...I cannot even begin to explain how crazy Real Madrid winning this Champions League was. Let me just summarize the main points. One important point that you seem to be missing is that, starting in the round of 16, games are double, so Real Madrid played the first leg away and the second leg at home, in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Real Madrid has a long history of European victories at their home stadium of Santiago Bernabeu.
1. Real Madrid is a legendary football team but everyone (including themselves) assumed their prime was long gone. Benzema, Modric, Kroos, Marcelo and Casimiro are all very veteran. They were part of the magnificent Real Madrid which, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, won 4 CL in 5 years, three in a row (that is freaking insane to begin with). Nobody, absolutely nobody believed they could get past the round of 16 or, if they were lucky, quarter finals...tops.
2. They were not lucky with the pairings at all. They were paired with Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the round of 16. PSG has a sh.....load of money and they have a collection of international mega stars like Messi (granted, he's well past his prime, but still), Neymar and, especially, Mbappe. Real Madrid had been trying to sign Mbappe for some years and that, plus other stuff, has caused some bad blood between both teams. Karim Benzema, the leader of Real Madrid, is like the older legend that Mbappe was supposed to replace. PSG played much better and won 1-0 in Paris. Everybody assumed that Mbappe would destroy Benzema. Benzema scored a hat trick in Madrid and Real Madrid passed to the next round.
3. Quarter finals, they played Chelsea. Chelsea had won the CL last season; terrific team. Real Madrid won Chelsea at London 3-1 bus was trailing 3-0 in Madrid by the minute 75 (a soccer game is 90 minutes). That means that it was, pretty much, impossible to pass. However Real Madrid scored a goal almost at the end of the game, tying the game (every team had scored 4 goals). A couple of minutes later, Real Madrid scored a second goal. They still lost that game, but they passed to the next round because they had scored 5 goals overall, while Chelsea only had 4.
4. Semifinals they played against Manchester City, coached by Pep Guardiola (a legend of Barcelona, the archenemy of Real Madrid). Manchester City just won the English league, wonderful team, much better than Real Madrid man by man. Everyone assumed beating them would be impossible. In Manchester the English won 4-3 and in Madrid they scored 1-0 at the 73rd minute. Real Madrid would need to score 2 goals to tie the game and 3 to pass to the final in less than 20 minutes against one of the very best teams in Europe. No freaking way. Well...they did, Rodrygo (a youngster coming from the bench) scored two goals in 2 minutes (90 and 90+1), tying the game. Good old Karim Benzema scored the third goal, putting Madrid in yet another Champions League final.
5. The final was with another European legend, Liverpool. Real Madrid won 1-0.
The 2022 Real Madrid Champions League was so amazing that books have been written on it. It has been one of the most epic sports feats in history. Absolutely amazing.
