I one day hope to be as free as you are and other Ex Muslims such as you, Sarah Haider, Hamed Abdel-Samad, Imtiaz Sham etc. It is so great we voices from West from ex Muslims because in Muslim countries, leaving Islam is punishable by death in more than 10 Muslim countries.

    Well done Gaad and well done Hazem
    I am also a Palestinian and ex Muslim ( but nobody knows).
    Hazem, you are the age of my son and I feel sorry that you suffered that much. You are brave and deserve a good peaceful life. For over a decade after I left Islam, I too thought I was the only ex Muslim in the world (a thought lasted until I started reading the Internet).
    Gaad, I like your videos. If I ever come to Canada I must meet you. Gaad to me sounds like god, therefore, meeting you might bring me back to religion.

      Where do you live now? I just do not get how folks can think the are the "only" this. Amazing! I am Catholic and when I was a kid, I am older than Hazim and from a conservative Asian culture, I never though I was the "only" person. I am still a Catholic. I did grow up in Canada, I was open with my doubts etc. Why do you guys keep your doubts secret?? Why are you not more open??? If more people talked openly in your culture , they won't be so violent about it. And you know what, if people were more open you would not have Isis. It seems the folks who are more open are the violent ones. It feels like the biggest mountain you have is the one in your mind . Fear.
      You know, in the end your family will not kill you. They will not be pleased I am sure. But it is rare for one to kill their own . You have nothing to fear except fear itself.

      +All dogs Go To Heaven Here's a different analogy. If you were a proud pedophile and got convicted and sent to jail would you announce why you were sent to prison to your inmates? Or would you be fearful of what they would do to you?
      People that have converted from Islam to Christianity in their eastern country are under threat. Many are sent to prison, tortured, killed, hanged, stoned, whipped, heads chopped off, bibles are burned and Hazem's family disowned him. He chose to pick up his cross and follow Jesus anyway. There is a real threat and a real fear there. I'm sure you would be more cautious in both situations

      The more I study Dr. Peterson's "Maps of Meaning" the more clear it becomes that, while not every individual needs religion, most people do, and Civilization in general absolutely cannot survive without Religion, and a Logos-Centric Religious civilization is the best kind for tolerating a minority is skeptics so long as they are symbionts and not parasitoids.

May your words reach many others and make them use critical thinking, morality, consciousness, to know right from wrong. What gives us hope is that guys like you are educating people , by having conversations debates, questioning, and using critical thinking to analyze the Islamic doctrine and refute it's validity of divinity. Good will prevail evil.

    "We're middle easterners, we're spiritual by nature."
    Human are spiritual by nature. That's why removing Christianity from the west is so dangerous. People always always always try to fill that gap with something, anything. Often that thing ends up being something that corrupts them from the very core. Just something to consider.

      How can people be so stupid?

    • @arein423
      @arein423 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Then why did you talk about it like they are mutually exclusive? Also, I thouht this problem ''I am an agnostic not an atheist.'' was resolved years ago. One is a statement about knowledge, the other about faith, not that hard to understand in my opinion. I agree that a lot of teens don't know this, but I thought its because they didn't inform themself at all.

    • @arein423
      @arein423 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** So what you wanted to say is ''Dunno, but there are a lot of people - mainly teens - who think the two aren't mutually exclusive.'' correct? If so then i have to disagree. You can be an agnostic atheist, an agnostic theist, a gnostic atheist or a gnostic theist. I myself, like many other atheist, consider myself agnostic atheist, because i don't know wether or not a god exist. If I understood you incorrectly, then please feel free to correct me.

I thoroughly enjoyed your interactions. It is nice to see knowing guys have smiles on their faces as they educate America. You and Hazem briefly discussed what should be done about the whole war of cultures between the west and the Muslim world. He answered that he thinks that an open discussion should be started critiquing Islam. I tend to agree, however..
    I think key factors in resolving this conflict are not really factors, but actors. After all, it aren't deliberations that dictate our history, but dictators that deliberately dictate history. A certain peace must be present in the Muslim world before we should try to fundamentally change their thinking via a dialogue.
    After all, when one of your relatives has just been killed in a mosque, you'd rather not hear from a complete stranger that your ideology enabled or even created these terrorists to a certain extent. Especially when you have to fear that you'll possibly be their next victim.
    In my opinion, five countries play a pivotal role in this western vs. Muslim culture conflict: The US, Russia, Turkey, Saudi-Arabia and Iran.
    1) Russia-- Russia plays a pivotal role, because it is exactly in the middle of this conflict. Both the US government and the Russian government view terrorists as the number 1 foreign threat, instead of each other. At the same time, both the muslim world and the Russian circle of influence believes that the US is a great threat to world peace. Russia could be the ideal arbiter in this issue, if it were not for the distrust they have created in the west during the crisis in Crimea.
    2) Turkey-- Turkey essentially holds the same position as Russia, albeit with more authority in the Muslim world. They are traditionally the country that borders the western world both geographically and culturally. Having a large military, being a member of the NATO and being a historically moderate (after Atatürk) Muslim country, they are the stepping stone towards reconciliation of both ideologies. Sadly this potential wasn't recognised in the western world (because of ignorance and lack of knowledge about Turkey's unique position in the Muslim world). Sadly we made no attempt to halt the rise of Erdogan and his party that is steering Turkey rapidly back towards being a regressive Muslim nation. As we have seen, the Turkish government does not care about ISIS' insurgence and worries more about Kurdish militants and liberal media.
    3) Saudi-Arabia-- No need explaining this one. I think most people know that Saudi-Arabia is the birth place of Wahabism and modern fundamental Islam (if you don't you didn't watch the video) and that it is the country where radical Islam gets most financial support from. Not necessarily because everybody in that country is a supporter of wahabism and jihad, but because of..
    4) Iran-- The boiling conflict between Iran and Saudi-Arabia is so extremely underestimated. Saudi-Arabia makes no attempts to stop the money flow from it's rich people to the Levante, because they know ISIS is the only thing that keeps Iran and it's ally Russia busy. It's also the only thing that is standing in the way of Irani control over Iraq, Syria and Lebanon. Iran is an extremely powerful country that realises it is one. With the shady US and English involvement in their contemporary history, it is no doubt they won't want to be best buddies anytime soon and try to expand their power to it's former glory. With the Ayatollah having a lot of influence in national politics, they stand up for any oppressed Shia minority and will do that even more when they're done with supporting Assad fighting ISIS. This can be seen in Yemen, where the Sunni, Saudi-led coalition consists of more Muslim nations than the one against ISIS! And certainly one with a lot more Sunni commitment! Sunnis know that ISIS isn't an enemy that'll last, they know Iran is. Of course the situation is the same for the Irani government, who has been fearful of the alliance the Saudis made with the west for centuries.
    5) The US-- This complicated chess board, on which you can't even tell which pieces are black and which are white, has basically paralyzed the western governments. All of the pivotal players I just named seem to be enemies of the west and seem to be unwilling to cooperate. The Syrian conflict has become an infected wound that is not being treated, nor does it seem to have a cure. It is also dividing our western societies, causing the insurgence of the pc movement, but even more dangerously, populist movements. Making our society part of this regressive shift the world is taking.
    What I think should be done, is setting aside our issues with Russia. Putin has said many times he is willing to cooperate with the west on terrorism. In fact, America and Russia have been sharing information on Afghani terrorists for a lot of years now. It will be stabilizing to both the western and the Russian economy (to not have to fight all these wars) and it will look good the global public eye when two major global power players work together to resolve such a complicated issue.
    Russia will have the power over Iran to make it stop it's growing intentions of becoming an even bigger player in Middle-Eastern politics and America has the power over the Saudis to stop the support of ISIS and the oppression of Shia minorities. Or at least, both parties have the power to contain their allies. I mean, I'm not implying they can end the deeply rooted Shia-Sunni hatred.
    The problem regarding all of this, however, is that Putin will want something in return for his efforts. That will most probably be Eastern-Ukraine, because that's the only thing creating a loss of figure for him in his own country. Even though I wouldn't like to see Russia annex Eastern-Ukraine, because it remembers me of Sudetenland's annexation -SIDENOTE: I'm not comparing Russia with the third reich, I'm just saying that allowing a superpower to expand their power could potentially destabilize global politics-, I do have to say we seem to not have any other choice than that. Many claim Putin is a horrible oppressive dictator, but to me he is first and foremost an amazing political strategist, that has shown again he knows how to play his cards.

    Gad Saad an excellent video with this young Palestinian. My husband is a Lebanese Christian Maronite and I picked up some of your Arabic. Here in Canada Trudeau is bringing in Sharia Law and this scares me out of my mind. I like to see a Jew and a Palestinian getting along so well which is something that should be. I like Feyrouz and it is so sad when she sings about Beirut. I cry and so does my husband who has family in Lebanon and Australia. My husband is alone here in Canada. Both of you know what I am talking about. Yes I would like to listen to both of you in Arabic. Shitan yes sometimes I am called that by my husband. LOL LOL. My husband calls it his Bible - all the insults. I know that you would be laughing after this post. I love this video Gad and the world is in a very sad situation. I am in tears for both of you. All the best to both of you.

    Thank you Gad and Hazem. I just today, received major accusations of "pushing Islam" by sharing Hazem's videos on Twitter w/exclamations that Hazem was himself pushing Islam. This interview clarifies any misinterpretation- IMHO. I am a true believer in educating oneself and I personally found Hazem's videos to be very insightful. This interview furthered my understanding and thank you both for spreading the word so that we can go forward with knowledge not ignorance.

    [You two were talking about the consequences in the life of a former Muslim...]. I was in a discussion once with a friend who is a believing Jew, and I commented to him how terribly difficult it is for a Jew to receive Y’ishua. Instead of indulging my sympathies, he said, “Look, as hard as it is for a Jew, it’s even worse for the person who rejects their Muslim religion...” I, as an American born person can’t even imagine. I’m beyond THRILLED & and worship God almighty for Hazem!!!!
