At last moment, Punto showed 'Insufficient Engine Oil Pressure' and stalled. Thats why everyone had to get out. After everyone got off, I restarted the car and climbed the last climb pretty easily. So you should take this into consideration that we are at a high altitude place and cars tend to stall on higher gears and feel underpowered in lower gears. Now, first of all, the slope is not that gradual as it seems in the video. In actual, it is very steep. I went there in Nov 2019 with a rented bike and now the condition is so bad. I saw few cars damaging their exterior crossing this patch. Its that tough. So I thought of helping the guy. Sadly am the driver here. I have been driving in hill station for past 10 yrs, tat too in kerala. The logic here is very simple, THATS A ZOOM CAR. its not a eco sport we usually drive. A close relative of mine rented a zoomcar in Hyderabad. They had a narrow escape when the wheel came off, luckily the speed was low at that time. They called the zoomcar office multiple times, who instead of sending a representative asked to get the car repaired themselves. They said it was hard to believe anything could go wrong with the car as it looked very new. Zoomcar deducted 2500 from their security deposit which they've no hope or motivation to get back.
I have done, spiti circuit with ecosports (much more slush, and steeper incline).. It breezed through.. And driving skills makes a huge difference, i guess
Lack of experience. Another simple way to of tackling such situations for a FWD car is to climb in reverse. This loads the powered wheel and suspension reducing chances of tire slippage.

I have driven 1500cc Diesel EcoSports and I believe here its Diesel EcoSports only coz it's from Zoomcar. I have also driven Alto 800 and 1000 cc both many a times. If a 800cc Alto can cross then definitely Ford EcoSports can cross through this like a piece of cake. But I won't blame driver as well. It's very clear they are not used to such kinda terrains. You can clearly see many cars were Taxi cars and they new very well from where to maneuver. And the other factor was tyre, I doubt those tyres had any grip left afterall its a Zoomcar! It can happen with anyone, even with the people who shot this video.

Its more about the concept of Centre of Gravity. All front wheel cars have difficulty in up hills, just build the momentum and clear the road, accelerating so much won't help. Steering the car plays important role in passing the offroad terrains. Watch videos of experienced people cross different terrains, they have good steering skills, keeping the steering straight will make it worse and deepen the pit you made with burning your tyre.
It's all about drivers skill and experience. Let's not blame the car. Had this been an automatic transmission varient the problem would never have occurred and the car would have sailed smoothly. This is my experience.

Second thing - those were stock tires which were already flat without groves Third thing - it's a very heavy car making the situation even worse Fourth thing (contributing factor) - his diving skills (which weren't too good)
Front wheel drive should have better traction because engine and gearbox are mounted on front wheels only. I have seen people loading sand bags in Maruti vans to get better traction on rear wheels. This is never required in Maruti 800 FWD.

Problem here with Terrain, Tyres, Tyre Pressure, And most Importantly the Person behind wheels. Don't blame EcoSports. Rear Drive Wheels in better situation than Front Drive wheels.

None of the left wheels are spinning, looks like open diff maybe even FWD only. Ford actually has very nice clutch torque vectoring system on their previous generation Explorers, so yes question is is this vehicle equipped with it and if it has any awd system it doesn't seems to be activated

I agree, when I was researching about compact SUV and spoke to one of the sales guy, they got frustrated when i asked if there is a plan to launch AWD version like available in Brazil. They said its an urban SUV and we should not expect that to be a AWD. :-)
Wow! I'm just speechless due to the absolute lack of knowledge of these guys, quite surprised that they could "think" and come up with the idea to get out of the car and reduce the weight. Just wish they'd done a bit more of that "thinking" later on in the video too. Firstly have to rant at the guys standing outside. They could have done so much to help but they just stood there like mannequins. They could have helped in providing direction to the driver as to where to steer the car, they could have put some stones or gravel in the extremely slushy areas, they could have lowered the tyre pressure, or just helped push the car. Then secondly the drivers, just gotta hand it to them for being complete stupid ignorant mofos. Why? Not because they didn't perform well to say the least, but because they didn't learn shit. Every smart human usually has a similar approach in a problematic situation where they try something and if it fails they try something else, but not these guys. These guys just stick to trying again and again but with the same method. I get that people might not have experience or techniques for these terrains but these types of situations help them overcome that, but not for these idiots. They could have atleast asked one of the passing cars for some help or tips. They don't get that tyre speed isn't exactly vehicle speed. Freaking doing burnouts when they got stuck somewhere. If you didn't get through originally when you had some momentum then why the hell do you think you will be able to climb when you have 0 momentum and 0 traction because of your spinning tyres. All he had to do was not accelerate the damn thing like he was racing and keep a steady speed and reverse to the bottom where there wasn't much incline and start again, but that's too much work I guess. And as it goes for the people blaming the car's potential, it's not much potential but it's enough for this situation. Also, an Alto will outperform an EcoSport in a situation like this according to me. Why? Because an EcoSport isn't really an SUV or anything close to one or even a crossover. It has a 1.5L engine but it's body is too heavy for that engine and too tall. The weight of the car is too high and when on an inclined plane such as this that results in wayyyy more weight being placed on the rear compared to the front where the actual power is. The Maruti has a much lighter body, so even though it has a smaller engine and smaller tyres, it performs better in a situation like this.
It's not because of Tyre, me too I'm driven 7 years now, I never install off-road Tyre, and I always face more worser than this road but I've never stuck or face this till now. Ecosport is a beast....without off-road Tyre too.
Mine is a ford Fusion., 10 year old mother of all current SUVs nowadays. Driving across the good and worst road since last 10 years in Himachal. There is no place left out in HP which is motorable and my Ford Fusion haven't been there. The driver here is actually throttling high initially. Not required. Simply put gradual push on accelerator to pick up and move on. High acceleration not required
its neither the problem of car nor the driver. it's very common in front wheel drive cars actually during uphills the centre of gravity shifts towards the rear and front tires don't get proper wieght and the front wheels move little upward and start losing traction and muddy patch and poor tires lead to absolute loss of traction. ecosport is bigger and heavier than punto and due to the stepni hunged outside move the centre of gravity more backwards that's the reason otherwise ecosport is a very capable compact suv and is also available in 4x4 in some other countries
The main reason for this break the motion of the car on incline and slippery road. I had taken wagon R from Delhi to Ladakh without problem. But should need extra care if your car is not SUV. All does need is superior driving skills you have not the car.
Those who are not acclimatised with the car they are driving,,, specially those who hire a vehicle a couple of days ago like this one...and start driving face this sort of stiff situation..you need to feel your car and know its capabilities and limitations to drive on this sort of road...
first of all i am himachali and i have driven both car i will tell you the reality that eco sport is not a good offroader breeza is also not a good offroader but breeza is better than eco sport in term of off roading because eco sport use low profile tyre in it and the tyre of breeza are wider and provide more grip i does not own any of these cars but my friends have these cars and i have done off roading with these cars even i have driven these on ice . and i can tell. you eco sport have very low power second gear. where breeza goes in 2nd gear eco sport need ist gear. eco sport has more weight than breeza so it is better car for highways it is stable at high speeds offers less body roll at highways but for off roading i like breeza more its my personal experience you will know when you will drive these. but in terms of mini offroader i choose breeza.
Bulllshit I own both cars. Brezza has 215 16", Ecosport has 205 16". Barely any difference. Brezza came with crappy tyres , Ecosport came with grippy Bridgestone tyres. 1.3 in Brezza has turbo lag whereas Ecosport has no lag. More weight = Lesser traction/ wheelspin..... Your logic is laughable

Karthik Naik it seems you haven't driven any of these if you did then you should be aware of offroading capabilities of these cars . and you should be aware of low power of eco sport in second gears on hills specially breeza might have turbo lag lower down but it is more swift than nexon and ecosport in real world . and i am not breeza fan i own creta.
My friend had a terrible experience with eco sports boost. ..it was a total loss for him as the model also discontinued and parts was not easily available. According to his experience, eco sports is worst for uphill...but good on normal roads.
Aisi situations me 4 wheel drive / all wheel drive cars bahot kaam aati hai. Aaram se nikal jati hai, koi struggle nhi. Front wheel drive me slop me bahot problem aati hai.. Drivers ka kasoor nahi hai... Full load me front wheel drive ki koi bhi car ko problem face karna pad sakta hai.
So much for the build quality, but unable to cross this muddy patch with zero traction control, even travera & maruti car zip past easily! Ford are you watching?
whenever u r stuck like this front wheel in incline position then if road allows try climbing in reverse mode means turn front into rear wheel drive....pull mode into push mode
I too feel sometimes that the pressure of tires on the ground are preety low it loses traction easily ( only from stationary position not while driving)
Grey alto (@11.22) and white alto (@12.15) just crossed past the ecosport.... while the ecosport driver is wishing for off road tyres.... lol For people in the hills and those alto drivers these roads are daily commute.

I am an ecosport owner. I drive other brand cars since 10 years on similar road, but not faced this type of issues on mud road's..but ecosport does. I live in a remote village of western ghat in KA. My ecosport struggles a lot. I will post a comparison video of ecosport and swift soon on the similar terrain road.

Everyone here acting like they're seasoned off-roading high altitude terrain experts lol. Normal people like the guys who tried the EcoSport do not encounter terrain and slopes like this. Plus, the Ford EcoSport has balance issues and couple that with it being a FWD, its centre of gravity tends to slip back at inlcines. This effect is much more pronounced on bigger cars than the smaller ones like Alto that went by. Speaking of Alto and the other hatchbacks that easily made the climb, they were all cab drivers. They've probably been driving this terrain for decades if not more. They can even drive the road blind. So don't compare them with guys from places like Pune and Kerala who have little to no experience with roads like this. It's not just the EcoSport, but the Pinto and the Suzuki driver also got stuck at different points. So please stop acting like y'all are international rally car racing champions. Y'all are just a bunch of guys sitting on couches assuming you'll do better than them in that situation because you don't have to.
There were multiple ways to handle this situation. And the guys in the video tried not even ONE thing. Just revving it even when the tyre wasn't getting any traction.
Snow chains could work well too perhaps they have them.......people should carry snow chains and tow ropes when travelling in muddy or snowy terrain..... And the driver of the Ecosport isn't good at driving.....

Is that so? It does make sense to put max load on powered wheel, giving it the mosst amount of friction also. I'll try it sometime 👍

I have driven 1500cc Diesel EcoSports and I believe here its Diesel EcoSports only coz it's from Zoomcar. I have also driven Alto 800 and 1000 cc both many a times.
If a 800cc Alto can cross then definitely Ford EcoSports can cross through this like a piece of cake.
But I won't blame driver as well. It's very clear they are not used to such kinda terrains.
You can clearly see many cars were Taxi cars and they new very well from where to maneuver.
And the other factor was tyre, I doubt those tyres had any grip left afterall its a Zoomcar!
It can happen with anyone, even with the people who shot this video.

It looks like that is the 1L 3cylinder ecosport that comes only Fwd. The 2L 4cylinder engine comes with a auto 4wd system (basically awd).

Its more about the concept of Centre of Gravity. All front wheel cars have difficulty in up hills, just build the momentum and clear the road, accelerating so much won't help. Steering the car plays important role in passing the offroad terrains. Watch videos of experienced people cross different terrains, they have good steering skills, keeping the steering straight will make it worse and deepen the pit you made with burning your tyre.
Sorry to see these guys spoiling the tyres by accelerating. But it's a learning process✌
It's all about drivers skill and experience. Let's not blame the car. Had this been an automatic transmission varient the problem would never have occurred and the car would have sailed smoothly. This is my experience.

first thing - it's a FWD (front wheel drive) which is not ideal when going in hilly areas specially muddy hill areas..
Second thing - those were stock tires which were already flat without groves
Third thing - it's a very heavy car making the situation even worse
Fourth thing (contributing factor) - his diving skills (which weren't too good)
Front wheel drive should have better traction because engine and gearbox are mounted on front wheels only. I have seen people loading sand bags in Maruti vans to get better traction on rear wheels. This is never required in Maruti 800 FWD.

@@kanishk.0204 actually no.in rwd there is now weight at rear wheels. Hence they lose traction. But in fwd cars there is engine at front so it will have more traction in such situations.
That's why muscle cars or drift cars break traction easily. Because in most cars weight is in the front.

None of the left wheels are spinning, looks like open diff maybe even FWD only. Ford actually has very nice clutch torque vectoring system on their previous generation Explorers, so yes question is is this vehicle equipped with it and if it has any awd system it doesn't seems to be activated

Apart from other problem...one problem is people tend to panic in such situation and performance anxiety kicks in when there are other peoples also seeing you struggling.
I think the problem with Ecosport here were the tyres and maybe this is a case for Ecosport needing an AWD to be a more all round vehicle
I agree, when I was researching about compact SUV and spoke to one of the sales guy, they got frustrated when i asked if there is a plan to launch AWD version like available in Brazil. They said its an urban SUV and we should not expect that to be a AWD. :-)

Wow! I'm just speechless due to the absolute lack of knowledge of these guys, quite surprised that they could "think" and come up with the idea to get out of the car and reduce the weight. Just wish they'd done a bit more of that "thinking" later on in the video too. Firstly have to rant at the guys standing outside. They could have done so much to help but they just stood there like mannequins. They could have helped in providing direction to the driver as to where to steer the car, they could have put some stones or gravel in the extremely slushy areas, they could have lowered the tyre pressure, or just helped push the car. Then secondly the drivers, just gotta hand it to them for being complete stupid ignorant mofos. Why? Not because they didn't perform well to say the least, but because they didn't learn shit. Every smart human usually has a similar approach in a problematic situation where they try something and if it fails they try something else, but not these guys. These guys just stick to trying again and again but with the same method. I get that people might not have experience or techniques for these terrains but these types of situations help them overcome that, but not for these idiots. They could have atleast asked one of the passing cars for some help or tips. They don't get that tyre speed isn't exactly vehicle speed. Freaking doing burnouts when they got stuck somewhere. If you didn't get through originally when you had some momentum then why the hell do you think you will be able to climb when you have 0 momentum and 0 traction because of your spinning tyres. All he had to do was not accelerate the damn thing like he was racing and keep a steady speed and reverse to the bottom where there wasn't much incline and start again, but that's too much work I guess. And as it goes for the people blaming the car's potential, it's not much potential but it's enough for this situation. Also, an Alto will outperform an EcoSport in a situation like this according to me. Why? Because an EcoSport isn't really an SUV or anything close to one or even a crossover. It has a 1.5L engine but it's body is too heavy for that engine and too tall. The weight of the car is too high and when on an inclined plane such as this that results in wayyyy more weight being placed on the rear compared to the front where the actual power is. The Maruti has a much lighter body, so even though it has a smaller engine and smaller tyres, it performs better in a situation like this.

It's not because of Tyre, me too I'm driven 7 years now, I never install off-road Tyre, and I always face more worser than this road but I've never stuck or face this till now. Ecosport is a beast....without off-road Tyre too.
Mine is a ford Fusion., 10 year old mother of all current SUVs nowadays. Driving across the good and worst road since last 10 years in Himachal.
There is no place left out in HP which is motorable and my Ford Fusion haven't been there.
The driver here is actually throttling high initially. Not required. Simply put gradual push on accelerator to pick up and move on. High acceleration not required

its neither the problem of car nor the driver. it's very common in front wheel drive cars actually during uphills the centre of gravity shifts towards the rear and front tires don't get proper wieght and the front wheels move little upward and start losing traction and muddy patch and poor tires lead to absolute loss of traction. ecosport is bigger and heavier than punto and due to the stepni hunged outside move the centre of gravity more backwards that's the reason otherwise ecosport is a very capable compact suv and is also available in 4x4 in some other countries

The main reason for this break the motion of the car on incline and slippery road. I had taken wagon R from Delhi to Ladakh without problem. But should need extra care if your car is not SUV. All does need is superior driving skills you have not the car.

First of all, The Eco sport is FWD. What the guy should have done was reverse and tackled the slope at a higher speed.
first of all i am himachali and i have driven both car i will tell you the reality that eco sport is not a good offroader breeza is also not a good offroader but breeza is better than eco sport in term of off roading because eco sport use low profile tyre in it and the tyre of breeza are wider and provide more grip i does not own any of these cars but my friends have these cars and i have done off roading with these cars even i have driven these on ice . and i can tell. you eco sport have very low power second gear. where breeza goes in 2nd gear eco sport need ist gear. eco sport has more weight than breeza so it is better car for highways it is stable at high speeds offers less body roll at highways but for off roading i like breeza more its my personal experience you will know when you will drive these. but in terms of mini offroader i choose breeza.
Bulllshit I own both cars. Brezza has 215 16", Ecosport has 205 16". Barely any difference. Brezza came with crappy tyres , Ecosport came with grippy Bridgestone tyres. 1.3 in Brezza has turbo lag whereas Ecosport has no lag. More weight = Lesser traction/ wheelspin..... Your logic is laughable

Karthik Naik it seems you haven't driven any of these if you did then you should be aware of offroading capabilities of these cars . and you should be aware of low power of eco sport in second gears on hills specially breeza might have turbo lag lower down but it is more swift than nexon and ecosport in real world . and i am not breeza fan i own creta.

My friend had a terrible experience with eco sports boost. ..it was a total loss for him as the model also discontinued and parts was not easily available. According to his experience, eco sports is worst for uphill...but good on normal roads.

Aisi situations me 4 wheel drive / all wheel drive cars bahot kaam aati hai. Aaram se nikal jati hai, koi struggle nhi. Front wheel drive me slop me bahot problem aati hai.. Drivers ka kasoor nahi hai... Full load me front wheel drive ki koi bhi car ko problem face karna pad sakta hai.

bhai i am himachali and 25 years old i am driving in these kind of road since i was 18.. ecosport is the perfect mini suv for offroad... driver was an idiot firstly he applies break in the middle of the slit secondly he tries to change the gear in the middle.. he should be back and come with the constant speed on the 2nd gear and the car will falwlessly climb this patch...

I am an ecosport owner. I drive other brand cars since 10 years on similar road, but not faced this type of issues on mud road's..but ecosport does. I live in a remote village of western ghat in KA. My ecosport struggles a lot. I will post a comparison video of ecosport and swift soon on the similar terrain road.

Normal people like the guys who tried the EcoSport do not encounter terrain and slopes like this.
Plus, the Ford EcoSport has balance issues and couple that with it being a FWD, its centre of gravity tends to slip back at inlcines. This effect is much more pronounced on bigger cars than the smaller ones like Alto that went by.
Speaking of Alto and the other hatchbacks that easily made the climb, they were all cab drivers. They've probably been driving this terrain for decades if not more. They can even drive the road blind.
So don't compare them with guys from places like Pune and Kerala who have little to no experience with roads like this.
It's not just the EcoSport, but the Pinto and the Suzuki driver also got stuck at different points.
So please stop acting like y'all are international rally car racing champions. Y'all are just a bunch of guys sitting on couches assuming you'll do better than them in that situation because you don't have to.
There were multiple ways to handle this situation.
And the guys in the video tried not even ONE thing. Just revving it even when the tyre wasn't getting any traction.
