    Damn near hit the nail on the head when I said I used Sil-glyde break grease last video. I am a mechanic and love the stuff. You can also use that brembo break grease to put on rubber bushing parts. It will make car suspension points squeal less and it protects the rubber from moisture and heat. You can put it on anything rubber really. Also the cables for your outboard motor to make them last longer and turn smoother. I am going to get a Kestrel now and use my Psicifun as my backup reel. Nice find.

      Brembo makes grease too? Cool! : ). I had a 1997 Maxima and a 1999 Mitsubishi 3000GT back in the day, both with stickshift, and had real brembo brakes in both of them. Most people in this video probably don't even know what brembo brakes are : )

    Here in Southern California we use Cal's Drag and Reel Grease for gears and for carbon fiber drags discs (light coat on all washers metal and carbon fiber). Cal is a decades old world famous company that blueprint/modifies large Penn and other reels for performance beyond stock and maker of fantastic drag and reel gear grease. Cal's grease holds up with incredibly smooth drags for fish from a few ounces to hundreds of pounds. They have original tan and low temp purple. I use purple for smaller reel drags. Used with factory "carbon" drags or combined with Smooth Drag replacement Carbontex washers (available for most models of major companies reels) you get a super smooth drag from initial start to full button down...at a very reasonable price. I haven't tried the grease here but I assume it is top notch as well.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have Cal's brown grease. I am not going to comment on your other points but I GUARANTEE that Cal's grease will NOT slow down a surging carbon disk. The properties of Cal's grease, even just on first look, are not appropriate for slowing down surging drag.

I bought 3 Legalis (2 1000 & 1 1000 and 3 Presso rods (1 7', 2 7'6") because of your reviews as well as your Legalis bail bearing upgrade. For many of us Cal's grease is excellent for Carbon drags....Smooth and strong. We use purple for smaller freshwater reels especially spinners. I do not recommend original tan for smaller reel drags. We fish ultra light for trout to bluefin tuna over 200 lbs and our drags have never let us down. As I mentioned I am sure your grease is top notch. Thanks for all you do

      @@kendebeer6080 And i was careful not to talk about product i have never seen... However the Tan grease is soft and slippery and will not help with surging of carbon disks. Gary, i would love to help you but I looked on Hedgehog and i don't see that felt there any more. I bought 50 pieces of felt there for 50 dollars, 20 for vanford, 20 of old stradic CI3+, and 10 for old Legalis.. so if u find them they are dirt cheap. I recommend sending them an email and tell them u want felt for old Stradic CI4+. It is a size used in many other previous gen reels. One good thing about that shop is that they reply to all email next day. I like that.
      I have used some of these felts already in other reel experiments and i don't care for a few dollars but i want to be able to experiment when i get some new reel..
      I have been thinking about finding quality fishing felt somewhere, but i haven't been able to find it. If i do, i will definitely get some, because even if u have a Vanford, after a year and a half the felt gets overcompressed and thin like paper and fresh felt just feels nicer.
