It's the eyes. AI cannot seem to get eyes right, and for some reason that really unsettles me. It ends up with the eyes pointing in different directions; or different colour pupils; or no pupils at all; or multiple pupils in one eye; or just this really vacant stare that suggests the person is absent. Creeps me out.
I used one of these websites yesterday. I needed a a professional headshot for my curriculum vitae. I needed 14-15 photos of myself but I didn’t even have that many. So I called my girlfriend to do it for me hoping she had more pictures. Not really. We finally scrapped together 15 pictures over the last 5 years. It’s even harder for a man because we have to choose photos with or without facial hair. With or without glasses. I didn’t realize how frequently my look changes. I told her for that price and I get one good pic out of it I won. If not, we might have a good laugh. We got both! I got about 2-4 usable pictures. The rest were like looking at doppelgängers of me from different realities. They looked like me, but they weren’t me. Some of them came out looking like celebrities I resemble like i got a good Robin Williams, Billy Zahn, Mathew McConaughey, George McFly, and even one where I looked like NPH. All actors I have been told I resemble in the past. Although I didn’t get a good Quentin Tarantino or Ed O’Neil. Who I also sometimes resemble. My nickname in high school was Al Bundy. I did get a few that made me look like the man in glasses from Heroes. Like you said, if I keep the photos small, no one will notice. A few of them were spot on and I’m using those. The best one only issue was it made one of my eyes hazel instead of blue, but that sometimes happens with blue eyed people considering the blue color in reality is an optical illusion caused by refracted light. Overall, I’m happy with what I got. Saved myself hundreds of dollars and about half a day I would’ve burned up on a professional, and still no guarantee I would’ve gotten good pictures. No one is gonna look at that pic in an interview and be like “what the hell catfish!” . I’ve watched a few vids of peoples reactions of this technology. I’ve noticed women are far more sensitive at spotting differences. To be honest, your pictures looked more like you than mine did of me. Most of your shots I wouldn’t have been able to tell it wasn’t you. If you think about it, women spend more time altering their natural looks with makeup anyway. So they actually have more room for error. But the more someone knows you, the more likely they will notice the picture is a fake.
My boss would love this. I could finally get an ID photo that doesn't make me look like a criminal.
This is pretty cool tech! My selfies never look this good. Maybe AI can make me look handsome too haha.
Why get your picture taken when AI can make you a supermodel! My selfies are about to go from zero to hero.
