So smart and so simple! I've been looing around for special tape, special paint, special anything to fix the creep, and transparent coating did the trick! Thanks man!
Awesome design, Mackie. Really impressive how you're able to keep your naturel and flair even when having the restriction of having to incorporate another artist's work. I know a lot of creative people who completely freeze up in such a situation. Even in my own area of expertise (electronic circuit design), which I hardly consider to be creative expression, I don't like extending a circuit which was done differently than I would have from scratch.
Awesome as always🤟 hay did you use any additives to the black createx paint like 30/40 for plastic coverings or straight out of the bottle ? Keep rockin friend 🤟🎸
I’ve got a helmet job coming up and will use that transparent base for the layering. Always had issues with this sort of thing in tight corners, I appreciate the insight!
Nice tidy job again Mackie and once again I have learnt a new lesson re stopping paint creep and I have been spraying since 1975 😱 yes I'm that old really so you really can teach an old dog new tricks 😉
@@MackieBass Yes, back in the day, helmets were made from fibreglass. Sticking stickers on them, and god forbid, painting your helmet was a no-no, as solvents in glue/paint would dissolve the gelcoat. Modern helmets are made from plastic materials, so you can basically do whatever you like nowadays.
Hi Mackie, just court on to your vids. They ought to show these in school's as master classes. I love the way you take time to explain why your doing the process s.can you spray on any Helmut?. Cheer's Neil
Mackie, nothing to do with painting helmets, but what petrol resistant clearcoat do you use on petrol tanks? I've seen loads of reviews about so-called petrol resistant clearcoat failing and ruining the paint finishes.. Also an I get a good one in a rattle can? Any advice welcomed. Cheers mate.
Well...when you see the finished product you won't see any paint creep on the virago. The reason behind it is that I used solvent paint, which is much harder, and it would react with waterbased product. All.i needed to do I gently run scotch pad over the cured black paint and the paint creep disappeared like magic. Nothing left. It's much quicker this way, and I don't risk paint reaction without building up additional paint coats. It's all about speed and cost effectiveness. It works every time. :)
That is really a super great masking tip, seriously, I've been around paint & metal shaping for a couple decades and never came across that before....how in the heck did you come up with that one, almost too good to let out.

I know what you're saying, but often it is easier to work this way, as the idea is already there...all I need to do is roll with it :)
You have indeed done a man's job Sir !
Thank you kindly sir

Thanks Patrick, it works every time, and I am very confident to pass this on. Again - no one paid me to say that, but their products a re brilliant.
Very nice. A subtle "H" on the front. Good work. Mackie.
Always love watching you produce works of art. That is a CHiPs helmet I reckon. Skäl David
Thasnk David, It's a coold helmet and not one I would wear ;) Cheers!
Hey Bassbruv !! Truly crisp edges very nice piece of art you de man Mackie..peas and loaf brother ☮❤
Thanks Springster, gotta love the crisp meatloaf huh ?
Top job Mackie, stunning.
Thanks John. Good stuff
Excellent job as usual Mackie, I guess paints today don’t react with the helmet leading to it being compromised as they did back in the day.
It's not th epaint, it's teh helmets. They use different materials these days than back 20 years ago.

I use 2k. Clear and hardener. Not a fan of those in cans...had bad experience with these... But 2k works like a dream, and pretty much bulletproof!
Great tips,I do helmets too, enjoyed the video
Very nice job bro!
Thank you.
Nice metallic silver pinstripe around the black flames might have looked killer, great job anyway :)
I think it would, yes, but the bike is lacking that. I wanted it different, but still similar in the same way :)
Love the metal merch
Thanks guys! Much appreciated!
Why didn't you do this on the Virago? That's got black paint bleed all over the place

@@MackieBass Cool. Never knew about that :)
Nice job Mackie, what type of paint do you use for the base coat?
This was just acrylic paint, I often use stylarenz primers too. Depedning on the job.

I'm old fashioned like that...If I can help someone - I will. That simple.

Cheers bro!
I have no idea how youtube is letting you use that profile pic, but lets not tell them about it
Agreed :)
Dude. Don't use Crepe tape. Always use Vinyl tape. Not trying to tell a granny to suck eggs. I don't like that blue crap!
Vinyl tape don't like going around sharp corners to well..
