Ok I know nothing about Tron but now I do thanks to you. I have never given a thanks like this on TH-cam. But your ENTHUSIASM, your commitment to KINDNESS, and the sheer amount of work, planning and research that goes into all your videos, but especially this one. You are not just any old TH-camr. You're really making a difference. And I got so emotional watching your excitement for something you've waited for since your childhood. As a huge Tron fan, I love this video, especially the focus on the original movie. It’s great that Tron is seeing a resurgence. Was sad when PeopleMover (and its Tron sequence) went away, but ElecTRONica was awesome; I still have some Flynn’s Arcade tokens!

Tron Legacy is one of my favorite movies. I don't understand why it wasn't more well received. To me it's the perfect blend of humor, fantasy, action and romance.
Chris, the other movie you watched as a kid is called The Secret of NIMH and it's a classic! One of Don Bluth's best movies. You should give it another chance.
In the 2nd secret of Nimh one of the characters was voiced by Andrew Ducote aka Spieling pan from Disneyland Anaheim
I miss the World Of Tron that they had on Disneyland’s Peoplemover, over 30 years ago. For a projection of light cycles onto the walls, for some inexplicable reason, it so worked. You couldn’t tell that there were wallls around you until you had reached the exit on the other side and were going outdoors.
💜💜💜👏👏👏👏👏👏👏LITERALLY I SAY IT ALL THE TIME THE TRON PARTY WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PARTY EVER AT DCA!!! Oh my gosh I was so sad when it wasn’t there anymore I hoped they would bring it back when they launch the ride at Disney world It made the most fun out of generally wasted space back in that corner of the park. We loved it so much 🙌🙌🙌

Makes me all the more excited for my 10 day WDW trip in early May. I too, loved the original Tron. Was 21 when it hit theaters and was blown away by the visuals. I think I saw Legacy 5 times in IMAX. Loved that too, and the score is awesome.

I remember being a little tiny kid and seeing bits of the trailer of the Original TRON when our local TV stations would play Sunday night movies. LOL! Ahhh the old days of television.

A trip to Orlando is in order, mostly to ride Tron. It’s so fun to see how happy and excited you were to ride it! I was into Wrath of Khan when Tron came out (wish they had THAT ride) but super excited to try it! ❤️

The mobility seats at the back are called the chariot, and its actually a cool perspective as you feel like you are being pulled by lightcycles instead of horses.

Chris, I had a very similar reaction to you when I rode the ride in Shanghai. Grew up loving the aesthetic of TRON and then Legacy with the Daft Punk score created such an amazing world. In Shanghai, when in the queue the projection screen turned into a window, I instantly felt like a kid, like I had stepped into TRON. It was dark by the time I made my way to Tomorrowland in Shanghai and that also probably added to the experience.

Saturday July 10th, 1982, front row seat by myself (I was 13). LOVED the movie. Could never get anyone to enjoy it with me until the digital dvd renewed the sound and music!

ElecTRONica was one of my all time favorite things at DCA. I still have video of my kids dancing at the End Of Line Club, and I spent quite a bit playing the vintage games at Flynn's. I couldn't agree more, it NEEDS to be brought back somehow.

Oh my gosh, when my kids were little we used to stay at DCA till dark just for the Electronica party. We all LOVED it!! The arcade was awesome too. We still have one of the Flynn's coins. I wish Disney would bring it ALL back!!!

I remember as a kid, my mother who worked for Jaymar toys at the time brought home a promotional poster from Tron. I couldn't wait to see it for myself and when I did, I enjoyed it myself.
I bought the original action figures when they first came out and was trying to get as much as possible.
Many years later, my friend who was a huge Disney collector left me his collection when he passed away. He had purchased an original black and white print used during the filming of the movie. He got some neon paper, placed it behind the print and framed it, it looked great. I bought all the Tron Legacy toys and vehicles, but this print is one of my prized possessions from the original film. It's packed away in my basement right now and you gave me the inspiration to find it.
Thank you so much for all of the detailed information you have provided to us, there were many things I learned from this video. I can't wait to ride myself in a few months.

Loved this video !! I knew Tron was a popular movie, but I never saw it. It was in 1985 when we first came to Disneyland for the first time with our son's ages 10 and 2 at the time. The people mover was there then and my son and I rode it. There was a portion that we went through that gave you the feeling of Tron. My son age 10 loved it. What you shared about the movie helped to know what Tron was all about. The ride is very cool. You had a blast for sure.
I remember playing the *Tron* video game at StarCade (and wasted a ton of quarters playing it, finally finished years later) and always wished that Disneyland would have a ride based on it. So I guess a Tron Head too. Now my only wish is that Disneyland would get *Tron Light Cycle Run* too, but I realize that I wishful thinking (one can only hope). BTW Tron is also in the first Kingdom Hearts game, love it, also I too am child that computer era and feel in love Tron as well. #TronIsAwesome

Around 1985, my dad brought home a real Tron arcade game! My brothers and I were the most popular kids in the neighborhood. Best of all, we didn't have to use our quarters! I loved it.

It’s so cute to hear how you loved it as a kid. I was a surly teenager and failed to appreciate it. Every dude I knew loved the game.
Two wonderful things happened in 1982 that have loyal followers. Tron and Epcot Center. Chris, I was emotional when seeing with my own eyes through a rain soaked monorail in Nov. 2001 Spaceship Earth! at night. I didn't actually set foot in the park until a full year later when it was 20 yrs. old. Got dropped off a lot at the movies a lot as a kid. Called parents from pay phone when movie was finished. Movie listings & TV Guide were a THING! Thanks for inviting US into the GRID! BTW I have Tron somewhere on VHS. LOL!

Was able to ride Tron Shanghai, it was nice. I think their lockers are better as they're normal and won't have the issues that WILL happen to these badge controlled ones. I too was an original Tron fan, but it was because I already was a computer person before it came out. Never got to go to ElecTRONica but it looked cool. I paid for my daughter to go though.
Best Tron intro ever! Loved the back story! By the way “The Secret of Nimh” movie was a violent mess. If you read the original book it was supposedly based on, namely “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh,” you would find the story to be positive, heartwarming, and memorable. I know because I read to my third grade class. Then we watched the movie. And we were shocked at what they did to our beloved story. I retired from teaching 10 years ago, and I still remember reading that book to the children.
