J1mmy, as an RS3 player and a quest-enthusiast I feel dutybound to point out that RS3 has a canon quest order. It's called 'Timeline'. So By Release in RS3 could literally be a canon order playthrough. I won't ask you for it. I'll just tempt you.
I've been playing RS for at least 15 years now and I just couldn't go to Old School when they offered it because I couldn't bear to start from scratch on Tutorial Island. Now I'm an adult and I can splurge on a membership every once and awhile it's just nice to complete quests in areas I never got around to and be a little nostalgic for a little bit. I also love all the little details and world building you can come across. I finally got around to completing the Fremennik Isles quest and went to buy some rope from Ned in Draynor. I ended up getting him to confess that he had been trading balls of wool in exchange for yak hair rope because his hands were too stiff to weave it by hand anymore. He ended up giving me extra rope to keep quiet about it lol this is uch an unnecessary little detail that I can't help but love it.
That is exactly why I havent touched OSRS, I have spent so much time in my account, id rather struggle with new skills and mechanics than start over, but still OSRS whispers to me in the back of my head lmao

After quitting shortly after divination release going to osrs is fantastic. Almost a breath of freshness in the game since I was offline for years on end lol

@@beyondthelol Inventory management has never been why I ever enjoyed RuneScape over the years. It has always been either a neutral aspect or a pain in the ass carrying annoying things like the tinderbox. Especially when you want to do something you didn't plan beforehand but you can't because you don't have one stupid item anywhere nearby. No, out of many different appeals of RuneScape, this has never been one of them.

Honestly, lore wise, story telling wise, and mechanic wise, I enjoy it. That rework on smithing they did and on some other skills rewards me for being proactive with my skills, instead of being dead zombie brained the entire time. Like, aside from the fact that yeah, the in game store is kinda shitty, mechanically, the game keeps my attention more than OSRS does. Just how I view it at least.
I find ironman on RS3 extremelly more fun than OSRS. It's still "hard" to the extend of grinding tons with no bonus exp given or lamps, no keys etc, but with more content and other ways to train.
As a player returning from 2004, I had most of those same wtf moments while questing. I still don't get the goebies or the multiple planets, or why people call me the world saver when I didn't do anything.
@@devyboo2 RS3 has 230 quests. OSRS had 128 quests at release. RS3 has also removed a few of the older quests or made them into mini-quests. There is decent overlap but he would be past it in a couple of weeks. It would also be interesting to see how they are different; a lot of the old quests that are still in the game have received significant changes.

Watching Sick Nerd and how much he’s enjoying it really makes me wish J1mmy would start up an Ironman and follow the questline properly. It hurt me when he said the voice acting was bad because he talked to a random NPC, when the voice acted quests are some of the best pieces of content in the game
The QOL aspect of rs3 makes going back to osrs difficult for me. As someone who grew up on rs2 and continued into rs3, there’s a lot of things that do make osrs just feel way grindier than I remember. Things like the toolbelt, resting, lodestones, bank rework with costume/diango retrieval and access to more banks make navigating the world much more convenient. The fact that they released equippable tools in osrs shows this. Just wish they’d add toolbelt and remove home teleports 30 minute timer
i quit rs a loong time ago, but i started playing osrs i think in 2018 or so and i had fun reliving the nostalgic feel of the game. I knew rs3 added things to make playing it easier and i actually enjoyed them as well. But when looking at the discussions of osrs players ath the time...they just seem love wasting their time in the game. I remember seeing a post on reddit or facebook about someone having the ideea that dogs in varrock would become pets if fed bones, and people were talking that it should be a fair percent chance, and if you feed it better bones you have increased chance. The fair percentage chance they were talking about? 1500:1 chance if you feed it dragon bones. I felt like i walked in on a masochist thread.
@@Donerbrt oh for sure, I think the main drag of OSRS is the inventory management. I don’t mind grindy training methods, I just hate the way they handle tools taking up an inventory slot. So that one time you forget what you need, like a knife or tinderbox, you have to run all the way back to the bank. Being able to light fires, or fletch, cut gems etc. anywhere is so nice.
I think he can do by release for RS3, only if he starts off where he pretty much finishes in OSRS, to save him heartache from video editing and all that.

i tried out rs3 really gave it a proper go now i cant really see myself going back to osrs ive been having the most fun on rs3 i ever have on runescape and ive been playing since RSC
10:19 Raw rabbit and other raw meat stuff is expensive because of POF (player owned farm), where you breed animals of different species. Place a couple in a breeding pen and they'll reproduce, but make sure there is appropriate food in trough and animals aren't sick. Checking them at every grow stage gives XP and some produce depending on species and breed variant.
I decided to come back to the game last week specifically to do all the quests for the lore. While I enjoyed a lot of the voice acted quests I 1000% agree that the Druidic Ritual and the second Violet is Blue quest really need to go to take a long walk off a short pier in Morytania.
The interface is intimidating at first but you learn to love it, especially when you can customize it so much depending on what you're doing in the game. You can also change your game view which should really be made more obvious because it is the most helpful thing when it comes to having a clean interface.
a little late to the party, but you can also find other people's interface setups online to adopt theirs! I really like being able to group or ungroup things, have menus I didn't have on OSRS, or pick to turn off those I don't use!
Loved the video J1m. I got into RS3 about 8 months ago, love seeing my favorite content creators try it out too. The quests in this game are absolutely gorgeous. By Release on RS3 is a stretch because there are 23875980231765 quests, but I'd definitely recommend exploring some of the story lines for your own enjoyment. My favorites are definitely the Sliske line and the morytania line. Looking forward to more content :)

my entire problem with rs3 was that originally the game i loved turned into something unrecognizable, and it migrated my old account. Now that osrs is out and i bit the bullet and started over, hell i think i'll try rs3
THANK YOU for making a video highlighting all of this. As someone who LOVES ORSR and also RS3 together its really nice to see someone actually giving RS3 a try instead of just endlessly criticizing it even thought they haven't played in years.
I originally played osrs for years, I got my first 99 on rs3 (smithing) using protean bars and double xp weekends and I have no shame, was a great feeling
I played rs3 a few years for close to a year and really enjoyed it. I've since fallen back into osrs and have no plans to play rs3 again, but both games are still great.

I grew up with osrs and although I never played it hardcore, it's an amazing game, but the last few months I've only played RS3 and I love it, the in-game real money purchases is disgusting as I'm sure everybody who plays the game would agree with but I do really think the game has a lot of good and it seems most people hate it because of OSRS's existence and what happened years ago with EoC and all that stuff and in general are just extremely biased and ignores all the good things but will call it trash at the first sight of negative which is usually the microtransactions which does suck tbh.
As someone who played a bunch of classic and osrs before a decade+ long hiatus, I decided to give RS3 a shot starting a few weeks ago. I like it quite a bit more than OSRS. They've made too many improvements to want to go back haha
RS3 ironman is IMO the best runescape experience by far. You get all the QoL changes that I wanted so badly in OSRS, and also never have to touch Pay-To-Win microtransactions since your account is locked out of that. And if a major complaint is "easy-scape" because of how easy it is to get rich, well guess what, no GE and trading. In the past month, I got an account with far more progress than my old main that I haven't touched since 2010. It was still grindy, still had to ezplore, and far more rewarding AND respectful of my time than OSRS. OSRS was a great game when I was a kid, but like many MMOs from the past, it's very dated for newcomers (at least in terms of grind and active engagement in gameplay)
Strangely I remember the RS3 intro to be more memorable, something with the player having an origin as a local folk hero on some island town, which then becomes plagued by a necromancer, and then some Cthulhu crab people.
I wouldn't ask for by release on RS3 but it would be interesting to watch you do content and quests that are not available in OSRS in similar style of video. Even this video gave me a smile and I can't wait for more :D

I remember starting in OSRS I just did the holiday events early on when I heard they were unique to osrs, decided to sell the holiday items, wound up with around 1M. That carried me most of the way to where I am now with the questpoint cape, it was awesome. bought teletabs and jewelry to get around faster, easyscape.
It was nice seeing you play RS3 onstream, I feel like more people who have not played in a long time (or ever) should at least give the game a chance to see if it catches their interest at all

Definitely agree with the last point you make, approaching the game as it is almost an entirely different game is the way to go with RS3. I started slowly playing it after trailblazer league ended and have actually had a lot of *gasp* fun. The one thing I think they should do to RS3 to capitalize off the second glance from OSRS players is reviving PVP. Some people PVP, but its not very popular. IMO, they should bring "OSRS legacy pking worlds" where the world is legacy only combat(these worlds already exist), but change weapon stats on this new world type for when in PVP to something closer to OSRS pking. Weapons on these worlds would be more similar to osrs in damage output/stats, and they could even go as far as making an npc who you trade for "legacy pvp" gear(ex: you trade dragon claw + offhand dragon claw, you get dragon claws). I have a feeling if they revitalized pvp, alot of players would pvp in RS3 since gear is much cheaper(dragon claws sitting at 300k, with swap rates thats about 50k osrs, if this would happen they'd surely rise in price, but would probably sit around 1-2m still). Newer higher level gear(such as drygores) could be turned off for that world, since you would need the "legacy pvp" gear to fight. Whips, dfs, spirit shields, furies, etc. are all sitting at a very low price point, some even at their high alch value, which would boost their value and would be seen as a more attractive/cheeper alternative to pvp or learn pvp compared to osrs where it costs 5x+ more to fight just for swap rates(then g.e. prices also are higher on osrs). New armor sets t70 and under could be used on these worlds, as most of them don't currently see too much usage. Maybe they could even rewrite the combat formula for these worlds(I think they did it in EOC betas, I cant see why they couldn't for these worlds as well) to the osrs combat calculator to allow pure pking. TLDR: Make OSRS pking in RS3.

I'm personally in love with RS3 ironman. I got to the point where I could start doing end-game-ish pvm on my OSRS and hated splashing half my hits with good gear.
By Release for RS3 is a BRILLIANT idea. RS3's Lore is Top Notch.. from the normal Gods we all know about (Zaros, Sara, Zammy, etc..) to the Elder Gods and their artifacts (Stone of Jaz = which created the wildy we all know and fear, Staff of armadyl = which killed Guthix :( , etc..). Especially with the upcoming Elder God Wars! you're gonna love it.. Just create an Ironman and forget about Treasure Hunter and the Cosmetics and you'll open your eyes to one of the best if not the best MMOs out there. Take my word for it!
It warms my heart to see OSRS players play RS3 and just realize, "It might not be as bad as we thought." Anything to foster some more unity between sister games. We RS3 players know our game is far from perfect, but the same can be said of OSRS. Also, you don't have to worry about doing RS3 By Release, we got MrKathaar doing chronolocked. Similar but doing quests in chronological order. Just happy you had a good time.
So I don’t know if you noticed, but you can change the interface to legacy and it’ll be set up like it was in RS2. You can do it and keep EoC if you want or not.
Runescape 3 is actually fantastic and fixes a lot of the slow and boring grinds of OSRS. Also adds a TON of massive content. Ironman is a must for me as well. It's great.

10:19 Raw rabbit and other raw meat stuff is expensive because of POF (player owned farm), where you breed animals of different species. Place a couple in a breeding pen and they'll reproduce, but make sure there is appropriate food in trough and animals aren't sick. Checking them at every grow stage gives XP and some produce depending on species and breed variant.
I decided to come back to the game last week specifically to do all the quests for the lore. While I enjoyed a lot of the voice acted quests I 1000% agree that the Druidic Ritual and the second Violet is Blue quest really need to go to take a long walk off a short pier in Morytania.

The interface is intimidating at first but you learn to love it, especially when you can customize it so much depending on what you're doing in the game.
You can also change your game view which should really be made more obvious because it is the most helpful thing when it comes to having a clean interface.
a little late to the party, but you can also find other people's interface setups online to adopt theirs! I really like being able to group or ungroup things, have menus I didn't have on OSRS, or pick to turn off those I don't use!

Loved the video J1m. I got into RS3 about 8 months ago, love seeing my favorite content creators try it out too. The quests in this game are absolutely gorgeous. By Release on RS3 is a stretch because there are 23875980231765 quests, but I'd definitely recommend exploring some of the story lines for your own enjoyment. My favorites are definitely the Sliske line and the morytania line. Looking forward to more content :)

@@kingvestra5556 Nostalgia is a big part of it honestly. What really got me though was watching PK videos. I appreciate how simple OSRS combat system is while still having a high skill ceiling.
I grew up with osrs and although I never played it hardcore, it's an amazing game, but the last few months I've only played RS3 and I love it, the in-game real money purchases is disgusting as I'm sure everybody who plays the game would agree with but I do really think the game has a lot of good and it seems most people hate it because of OSRS's existence and what happened years ago with EoC and all that stuff and in general are just extremely biased and ignores all the good things but will call it trash at the first sight of negative which is usually the microtransactions which does suck tbh.

As someone who played a bunch of classic and osrs before a decade+ long hiatus, I decided to give RS3 a shot starting a few weeks ago. I like it quite a bit more than OSRS. They've made too many improvements to want to go back haha
These kinds of videos are even funnier to rs3 veterans. This man speed ran finding some of the worst cringe in rs3 and I couldn't be laughing harder

RS3 ironman is IMO the best runescape experience by far. You get all the QoL changes that I wanted so badly in OSRS, and also never have to touch Pay-To-Win microtransactions since your account is locked out of that. And if a major complaint is "easy-scape" because of how easy it is to get rich, well guess what, no GE and trading. In the past month, I got an account with far more progress than my old main that I haven't touched since 2010. It was still grindy, still had to ezplore, and far more rewarding AND respectful of my time than OSRS. OSRS was a great game when I was a kid, but like many MMOs from the past, it's very dated for newcomers (at least in terms of grind and active engagement in gameplay)
Strangely I remember the RS3 intro to be more memorable, something with the player having an origin as a local folk hero on some island town, which then becomes plagued by a necromancer, and then some Cthulhu crab people.
It was one of the several attempts of Jagex to do something cool in the tutorial.

You can also set keybinds, to type armor switching, for activating prayers/curses. You can set it up to spam a key and constantly eat. Etc.

I remember starting in OSRS I just did the holiday events early on when I heard they were unique to osrs, decided to sell the holiday items, wound up with around 1M. That carried me most of the way to where I am now with the questpoint cape, it was awesome. bought teletabs and jewelry to get around faster, easyscape.

Definitely agree with the last point you make, approaching the game as it is almost an entirely different game is the way to go with RS3. I started slowly playing it after trailblazer league ended and have actually had a lot of *gasp* fun. The one thing I think they should do to RS3 to capitalize off the second glance from OSRS players is reviving PVP. Some people PVP, but its not very popular. IMO, they should bring "OSRS legacy pking worlds" where the world is legacy only combat(these worlds already exist), but change weapon stats on this new world type for when in PVP to something closer to OSRS pking. Weapons on these worlds would be more similar to osrs in damage output/stats, and they could even go as far as making an npc who you trade for "legacy pvp" gear(ex: you trade dragon claw + offhand dragon claw, you get dragon claws). I have a feeling if they revitalized pvp, alot of players would pvp in RS3 since gear is much cheaper(dragon claws sitting at 300k, with swap rates thats about 50k osrs, if this would happen they'd surely rise in price, but would probably sit around 1-2m still). Newer higher level gear(such as drygores) could be turned off for that world, since you would need the "legacy pvp" gear to fight. Whips, dfs, spirit shields, furies, etc. are all sitting at a very low price point, some even at their high alch value, which would boost their value and would be seen as a more attractive/cheeper alternative to pvp or learn pvp compared to osrs where it costs 5x+ more to fight just for swap rates(then g.e. prices also are higher on osrs). New armor sets t70 and under could be used on these worlds, as most of them don't currently see too much usage. Maybe they could even rewrite the combat formula for these worlds(I think they did it in EOC betas, I cant see why they couldn't for these worlds as well) to the osrs combat calculator to allow pure pking.
TLDR: Make OSRS pking in RS3.

By Release for RS3 is a BRILLIANT idea. RS3's Lore is Top Notch.. from the normal Gods we all know about (Zaros, Sara, Zammy, etc..) to the Elder Gods and their artifacts (Stone of Jaz = which created the wildy we all know and fear, Staff of armadyl = which killed Guthix :( , etc..). Especially with the upcoming Elder God Wars! you're gonna love it.. Just create an Ironman and forget about Treasure Hunter and the Cosmetics and you'll open your eyes to one of the best if not the best MMOs out there. Take my word for it!
It warms my heart to see OSRS players play RS3 and just realize, "It might not be as bad as we thought." Anything to foster some more unity between sister games. We RS3 players know our game is far from perfect, but the same can be said of OSRS. Also, you don't have to worry about doing RS3 By Release, we got MrKathaar doing chronolocked. Similar but doing quests in chronological order. Just happy you had a good time.

Runescape 3 is actually fantastic and fixes a lot of the slow and boring grinds of OSRS. Also adds a TON of massive content. Ironman is a must for me as well. It's great.
