  • Sikhism - is the fifth-largest religion in the world, founded in the Punjab region with 30 million believers these days. Sikhism was established by Guru Nanak and Sikhs believe in the oneness of all beings and the equality of everyone. The Sikh faith is a monotheistic religion, meaning Sikhs worship one God.
Sikhs are easily recognized by their distinctive turbans - that is the headwear I have on my head. As part of the requirement and the respect to the religion, I had to get dressed accordingly to visit the holiest place - The Golden Temple in Amritsar. This headwear represents equality, honor, self-respect, courage, spirituality, and piety. So as part of the requirement, everyone had to cover their head in some way including women and kids.

The Guru Granth Sahib opens with the basic concept of the One Universal, supreme Energy called by so many different names across humanity,.
Ik oankar - One absolute being (God)
Satnam - Eternal truth it's name
    Karta Purkh - Creator
    Nirbau - without fear
    Nirvair - without hate/ enmity
    Akal Murat - Deathless/timeless image
Ajuni - Beyound birth and death
    Saibang - self existant
Gurprasad - known by the Guru's Grace.
This is repeated numerous times and at the start of every section as a constant reminder.
In the words of the tenth Sikh Guru - Guru Gobind Singh "recognise the human race as ONE"

Hello Davud, In this video on 3:39 you touched white hair thing. This is called Chaur Sahib. Chaur Sahib is an implement normally found next to the Manji Sahib where the Sri Guru Granth Sahib is placed during the day within the Gurdwara's Darbar Sahib (Main Hall). The Chaur is used to fan the Granth as a sign of reverence and respect for the scriptures.

you look great in turban dear brother!! and the cleaning thing you are talking about is not cleaning floor but it is called Chaur Sahib. Chaur Sahib is an implement, a ceremonial whisk, found next to the Palki or Manji Sahib on which Sri Guru Granth Sahib is placed. It is used to fan Guru Granth Sahib, as they used to do for kings of the olden days. It is a sign of respect and reverence towards the Eleventh Guru and towards the collective works of all Sikh Gurus and many holy saints. It highlights the importance of scripture and attests to the fact that it is the mightiest authority in Sikhism.
